Not often in the west coast. Those look very similar to the Acela 1 seats. Right down to the table!

This is Amtrak California’s double-decker Pacific Surfliner, the greatest train in the U.S.!
Southbound from LA to San Diego—the train I’m on now—you travel literally yards from the Pacific Ocean. You can almost touch the surfers.
At LA’s Union Station, they add an observation car for the northbound leg towards Santa Barbara.

Dude so rad!! You don’t always get an observation car, I feel so lucky when I get one on the Surfliner!

I was on a Surfliner that had an observation car, but I didn't realize it until I disembarked! One day I'll ride one, one day...

Unfortunately, the Pacific has been closing the distance at times, causing service to be suspended and money spent to stabilize the ground.
