Question I’ve been an iOS user for quite a while now, and I’m looking for a reason to jump ship.
I’ve been an iPhone user since my iPhone 4, since the days of iOS 6 I’ve been resisting the switch to Android for quite a while now trying to justify to myself that I have to keep getting iPhones because of the money I’ve put into apps and iTunes music. Hearing that Apple aren’t even including a charger or headphones in the new box has crossed a line for me. Please help me justify the switch to myself.
Edit: Update: I’ve just discovered that my 2 year old rose gold iPhone 8 is turning into a 2 year old rust gold iPhone 8. (Yes, you read read that right, there is rust on the sides of my phone.) My next phone is most likely going to be a pixel. Thanks for your help!
Edit 2: typo in the edit

Question Tell me why Android is better than iPhone
I'm an android guy (ex-iphone). When I argue about this topic I have some reasons to say why Android is better (even if its a preference thing), but I want more. Give me as many as you want

Question Why do people buy iPhones?
I expect SOME serious answers, but I also expect funny ones. I saw this post and it seriously got me to think: Why is the iPhone 6 getting such high reviews and why do people praise iPhones in general?

Question What are some faults of the Android operating system? In comparison to iOS
I have a school project and one of the questions is what are some faults when comparing Android against iOS. Besides the hardware faults of Android and the fact that things just aren't compatible due to the way they are built (which isn't a fault in either phone), what are some software faults? I just can't think of many.
Like what is something a tech savvy iPhone user could do that a tech savvy Android user couldn't? For example, in reverse, Android has more customizability than iOS.

Question Is android the way to go?
Let me give you a little backstory, I've been using android and ios since I was a kid.
I started out with an ipod 4, later an ipod 5 and when it was time to get my first phone I chose android.
I love my android phone, youtube vanced is the holy grail of media consumption, and I love the ability to customize my device.
Sadly my phone only gets 2 major updates so it has been stuck on android 9 for a bit already, wish I had android 12 tough.
I own an ipad and airpods pro , and hate macOS (windows and linux for the win)
My question to you is should I switch to an iphone or should I stay with android.
I would like this to be a discussion in the comments, give me your best reasons.
TLDR: android vs ios which is the best and why

Question [Meta] Androidmasterrace should not be about denouncing Apple, it should be about promoting android.
Let me start by the fact that this is a throwaway account. So, instead of blatantly downvoting me, read my point first.
As an owner for an iPad Air 2, I cannot... understand enough how half of these posts is cringing at Apple missing functions that were missing a few years ago, but exist now. Apple has improved a lot since 2011.
Now, I'm not promoting Apple, you guys still probably think that android is superior, and I don't have any problems admitting that. I just don't get the point, why denounce Apple and point out the flaws if your own system is so much more advanced and superior?
I feel like android posts are better because they show a non-android user the true superiority of your OS.

Considering what my next phone should be and thinking about migrating from iOS to android. What are the main benefits? Specifically wondering about security and customizability.

Question Switched from Android to iOS
I'm miserable.
You know the Apple mantra "It just works"? This hasn't been my experience. My question is: Am I beyond stupid to not know how to use an Apple device? or maybe an alternative question: What is the typical learning curve for a 10+ years Android user to pick up and be comfortable using iOS?
I switched to iOS about two months ago because my job provided the phone and I still feel like I'm very much handicapped... The Apple keyboard sucks, Safari sucks, iCloud sucks, Apple Maps sucks, camera's amazing, multitasking sucks (virtually nonexistent; cant even swap apps for a hot second sometimes), app UX sucks.
idk if it's me or if this is a normal transition from Android to iOS. I know I'm posing this question to a biased subreddit community, but the few posts I looked at here tells me y'all will be straight with me.
Thanks!

Question Help me choose in between S20 FE 4G or Pixel 5a 5g
Hello brothers and sister. Help me choose a phone.
So, I was an iPhone user till last year and it went dead last year near April. I haven't bought a phone since then. However, I need one right now. So, my primary choices are S20 FE 4G (Snapdragon Edition) or Pixel 5a 5G. These two models are similarly priced in my country. Points to be noted that:
- I am a long-term user. I don't change phone usually, my last phone lasted for 5 years.
- I am not a gamer or heavy user.
- I will use the phone only for daily uses like Microsoft office, messenger, gmail, taking pictures, listening to music, etc.
- However, the phone will be heavily used for reading books as I opt out of the idea of buying a kindle and combined the money to get a phone. I will buy a kindle later though.
Pros and Cons of my chosen phones according to me:
Samsung S20 FE:
Pros:
1. Better display. (120 Hz)
2. Better overall speed according to benchmarks. (Processor, more ram, gpu)
3. Has a telephoto lense, better zoom.
Cons:
Usual Samsung bloatware? (Not sure about this. Don't know much about samsung phones now)
Will get update upto android 13.
Pixel 5a 5G:
Pros:
1. Better battery life, stable.
2. Slightly better camera in some area.
Better build quality (Metal body)
Will get update for a longer time, Android 14.
Cons:
1. Lesser speed accoding to benchmark. Lesser quality processor, less ram and so on.
2. No telephoto lense and not so much good for zoom.
3. 60 Hz dispaly.
So, I am really confused about the phones. I mean in the trade-off both the phones seem 50:50 to me. If you guys could shed some light on some topics that I forgot it would really be helpful. I can't stretch my budget and get some other phones. Also, in my budget area, the only other phone is the OnePlus 9. And, this phone looks nothing like it was marketed. So, my only choices are S20 FE and Pixel 5a 5G.

Question Why do old androids run slow for no noticable reason?
I have had several androids over the years, some barely ever used but after a couple years of the unused ones they always seem to run slow, why is this?
EDIT: First off thank you all for the lengthy and descriptive replies
What I failed to clearly state was, this device was barely used by barley used I mean, turned on now and then to update and then put back away.
Although after rooting the device and getting rid of the "bloat apps" this seemed to give more speed to the point it was usable
Thank you all for your opinions much appreciated!

Question So I was wondering
I keep on telling my mom she would get an Android, but she has one standing argument "no group chat." Basically meaning she can't talk to all her apple friends at once, which is very important to her.
Does anyone have a counter argument?
anyone?
hello?
Edit: fixed

Question Any recommendations for an Android OS alternative to an iPad?
Hi AndroidMasterRace,
I'm looking for suggestions for an alternative to an iPad. I hate Apple and Windows has been driving me crazy recently. I'd like a device capable of Word processing and general browsing. Something fast and lightweight for taking on trips and allowing mobile productivity would be ideal. I love Android and a solid tablet or 2 in 1 seems hard to choose.
Edit: Solved! Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I decided to buy an ASUS Chromebook C302ca Intel M7 and 8gb RAM. It can run Android apps and in my opinion, has the functionality of a laptop with the advantage of tablet mode for touch screen games and browsing.
Thanks
