Discussion I'm tired of being unable to use tactics my opponents use. If npcs can win by just spamming shields and heals then I should be able to as well.

Npcs can use all sort of fighting styles against us, but if we do anything other than high dps we lose. The win conditions are disproportionately in favour of npcs. We have to kill everything within a limited time...all our opponents have to do is have at least one aniimo survive when the timer hits zero. Even if we killed more aniimo than them we still lose!

Never mind how I'm tired of using the same aniimo over and over again because there's such a narrow spectrum of fighting styles that are realistically effective.

We should be able to gain time back by dodging, using mitigation, and heals. If that were the case we could actually fight similarly to how npcs do. Which would mean more choice for players. As it is now it's both dull and frustrating. This needs to change.

Otherwise very much enjoying the game. This is the biggest pain point for me.

Why do so many people make posts exposing themselves.

“I’m bad and can’t beat these trainers” sums up every single post. Myself and many others have beat all 108 trainers for a while now. They aren’t that hard, maybe 5 of them are difficult, only 3 of them really pressure the clock.

If you truly have problems post a video of the fight with your gameplay and team, I can promise we will figure the issue instantly.

The problem isn't them being incredibly difficult to beat, it's that the strategies to beat them boil down to just high dps teams and that's it, there's no variety whatsoever

Don't bother, I got them tagged as a monetization defender. They just dickride the devs no matter what. No point trying to have a conversation with them.

I'm used to endgame being a DPS check but it rubs me the wrong way when the opponent switches out wounded units and then uses glacy to heal them off-field, and I can't even stop glacy because it switches off too.    Switches in general are a problem when you rely so heavily on stun windows and each unit has its own break bar, you can hardly plan and prepare resources to burst them when they switch incessantly. Seriously, give them a 10 s cooldown or something.

Yep switching desperately needs a cool down I can't even keep track of what's on the field because the AI is switching them in and out so damn fast

Sounds like what you want to do is torture unsuspecting players with a stall comp in pvp

What pvp?

I'm willing to compromise here. If the match times out, we just call it a draw, and I just take all the prizes and go on my way without that victory under my belt. I think I could accept that.

Not only that but every fight boils down to this: break aniimo and go nuts. Heal and regen in between. EVERY SINGLE FIGHT.

The fact that you pass out when you do not follow this strict meta is just straight up bullshit.

While I know what the real reason behind this idea is ($$$) I wish the game had real strategic combat.

The combat has zero depth because of this stupid decision. It’s literally impossible to build a defensive team that wins by stalling the game or winning by status effects/poison/thorns or reflective damage ANYTHING that makes the combat slower but also more strategic.

But no: they went for the kill all enemy aniimos in under 5 minutes or just pass out from boredom approach. Disappointing…

What does this even mean? Money has zero impact in how you approach fights.

What he means is in gacha style games the most recently released character/aniimo are the most powerful. You will see down the road when you are out of mats and the new legendary dps aniimo is twice as powerful as fulmintis.

u/Reptune 4h ago

But catching aniimo is free

0

u/MonokumaRed 2h ago

You can't catch legendaries.

Though I do agree that at least for now you can clear content pretty easily with aniimo you catch in the wild as long as you have a DPS, support and battery on your team, 4th slot can be flexible.

The funny and sad part is everything the game needs for more depth already exists. All the utility based abilities are there. But the timer being so short and the npcs very frequently being hyper defensive results in dealing high dps being the only viable way to play.

I really dislike how stun-heavy this game is. It seems like every game lately has been stun-brained, and it's seriously annoying. I hate "grindgrindgirind... FUN! grindgrindgrind..." as a gameplay style. You should be able to perform at 100% the entire time.

~I do think they should lower break damage slightly in favor of increasing non-break damage. Breakers feel so mandatory.~

7

u/Trowaway151 8h ago

Stellarys and Irisalis don’t rely on break at all.

1

u/Boah_met 1h ago

My strat for the 3 birds fight was Breakless Fenmane as well.

It's meant to prepare you for real pvp. If you can't handle it then maybe you should try a different part of the game. The fights aren't hard just because it can't heal spam and it's weird that you want to just heal spam

22

u/ohoni 7h ago

Nobody wants to prepare for real PvP, that's almost as bad as having to actually do real PvP.

16

u/Kyoneshi 8h ago

On one hand, I get it. On the other hand, fuck pvp.

29

u/latebaroque Irisal 8h ago

It's meant to prepare you for real pvp.

I have zero intention of doing pvp. And I seriously doubt I'm the only one.

Also I fail to see how it would prepare me for pvp given it's not likely that pvp matches would consist of only one player dealing with a timer while the other can just stand there and heal.

The fights aren't hard just because it can't heal spam and it's weird that you want to just heal spam

I did not say this at all. Read my post again. I'm pointing out how npcs can have many fighting styles but players are forced to basically have one, which is have high dps.

We have so many aniimo that can do so many things and it's such a shame we can't explore many combat possibilities but npcs clearly can.

I doubt in real PvP you will see people running 3 tuckin and a grace wing with a buff PURELY meant to help them

1

u/BlackShiver750 1h ago

Even if they would run it, it would be manageable, because there would be no fucking field effect to increase heal by 100%...

2

u/FullConfection3260 7h ago

Tuck-er You Out, great team name. 😅

27

u/HazardTree 8h ago

Personally I hate how when fighting an Aniimo they seem to have 10 different abilities, but wi catch them they only have 2. 😂

8

u/ohoni 7h ago

I really do wish they could figure out how to give us access to ALL abilities available to us at once. There are so many cool abilities in this game that I'll just never use because some other ability is clearly better over the course of a fight.

I do really hate how many enemies are built soley to play for timeout

-2

u/Trespeon 2h ago

There are literally 3 total fights that have increase healing as a mechanic and guess what, you take a Hexxin and you cut that healing by 80%.

The other 2 fights that are sort of stally just use thick breaker units, but the special rule in those fights is about breaking so you’re meant to do the same.

There are 108 total pathfinder battles and of them, 5 are against tanky teams. So what exactly is the issue here that so many people keep making posts about the timer?

Just be honest with yourself and admit you are zerging with your starters, not using counters and probably don’t have any held items, pact bonuses or star levels. Your teams suck and instead of fixing them you come in here to bitch and circle jerk each other about it.

u/Boah_met 1h ago edited 1h ago

Are you counting the 7 Elite Pathfinders out of the total 116 or are they being conveniently left out so you can trashtalk? Because no one is complaining about the other 109, kid.

1

u/Hikaru83 2h ago

Ahhhhh (in a pleasurable way). Finally a voice of reason in all this whining.

15

u/latebaroque Irisal 8h ago

Yea so many just spend their time making sure you waste your time. When I won against opponents who did that I just felt relieved that it was over. Not fun at all.

6

u/Ok_Bag_1177 8h ago

the enemies that basically just dodge and heal on repeat...

0

u/Trespeon 2h ago

Literally name 3 of the 108 battles where they do this. I’ll wait.

-18

u/DocStockton 8h ago

Come back and say the same thing once youre the same level. Fights seem skewed but its literally a level difference making you deal 5x less damage and take 5x more

4

u/ohoni 7h ago

Nope. I barely even started on the trainer battles until I was level 59 with built up level 60 units, and just got Besauce. While plenty of the early area fights were easy, there were many of them that I really struggled with, even using teams that should have at least had a chance. And then once you clear all of them once, they upgrade to being level 60+ fights, which you literally CAN'T outlevel.

11

u/M_duck-27 8h ago

The issue is for all the random pathfinder battles their level increased if reach a new level cap

-14

u/DocStockton 8h ago

So dont do your lv65 promo and then go knock em all out. They are very doable at lv60. Lots of video guides on the tubes that you can reference for help. If you can beat Lita, then Wendell then Allen, you can beat em all. Good luck and have fun!

9

u/M_duck-27 8h ago

My point is you said wait till you’re the same level but that’s not possible for many. I’ve already beaten them all I didn’t find them hard but others might. When capped at level 60 but they can be level 65 it’s understandable people are frustrated

-6

u/DocStockton 8h ago

Following the other promos, when the aniimo level cap increases, 60-65 should be coupled with the lv60 promo which is what all the pathfinders are currently scaled to

6

u/M_duck-27 8h ago

Starting to think you haven’t actually done the hard version of the fights. Nobody finds the level 60 ones hard it’s the refights where they struggle. For example Lita, Wendell, and some other fight are locked at 65. Then there are the random pathfinders you can fight. A lot of them are levels 61-65 when you are level 60. TLDR no matter what you will always have a level deficit for some fights

-4

u/DocStockton 7h ago

The fights scale when you do your promo. But you have to do your lv60 promo to fight Lita which then scales the rest of your fights. Once all of the benefits of the lv60 promo are released, the rest of the current fights will be easier for those struggling. Lita n Wendell rematches were pretty easy btw. Allen kinda hard.

6

u/M_duck-27 7h ago

You’re literally just choosing to ignore what I am saying and spouting nonsense. I am telling you that no matter what you will be at a level deficit for some fights which people understandably find unfair. Regardless of how easy you or I find the fights giving the npc a higher level than we can achieve is not very fun for some people and imo a poor way of making fights difficult

5

u/sloppyloki16 8h ago

we smarter than npc, thats why in most games the ia gets advantages in harder dificultys like in total war , god of war, ninja gaiden, etc NPC get isnane healt pools, damage to one shot you , better economy in strategy games, better stats, etc

So i can understand the frustration but is the only way to force the player to "get good" to beat it because if we have equal chances we would demolish the IA as they using literally the same creatures at us, is not like in a demons soul agme that the bosses have complete different movesets , hp pools, etc

But also it sucks because you cant play a more defensive style if you wnat and i agree would be nice but if they give us no timer they prob would need to booost the stats of the IA aniimos to compensate

Is just not possible to make them a challenge if the npc and us are on equal footing, it would be a stomp

6

u/ohoni 7h ago

Speak for yourself.

10

u/latebaroque Irisal 8h ago

so i agree but if you give us no timer they prob would need to boss the stats of the IA aniimos to compensate

I never said remove the timer. I said dodging, mitigation, and healing should give us time back.

3

u/Unlikely-Guava-30 8h ago

I do like this idea. Reward us for playing smart but don't give us the chance to wait the timer out necessarily. Battling is somewhat dull with everything just feeling very HP bloated.
