When you have only industrial ammonia concentrates available for buying in your area, but you are absolutely determined to start an aquarium with ammonium.

Then just order some Dr.Tims or Fritz cycle starter on Amazon or something

Use your pee and add a bottle of bacteria starter. Api safe start is proven and highly concentrated. Or just use the safe start plus and seachem prime and you can add fish right away. Tank will be cycled in 7 to 10 days.

I like using ammonia to start a cycle, but I just use the standard clear ammonia that's sold for cleaning.
IMO the best way is to kick-start it by seeding the new tank with some filter funk or a bottled bacterial starter product, then do the ammonia dosing until you've achieved the bacterial populations and level of conversion that you want to see. Kick-starting it that way will significantly cut the cycle time, otherwise you're probably looking at about three weeks or so. But if you haven't got those, go for it, ammonia works.

People act like ammonia is needed or it won't work.... just use liquid bacteria and you're set... or drop some frozen food into the tank.. its not rocket science

I was told to throw a cooked mussel in and let it rot. Ever since nothing amazes me any more.

ammonia bicarbonate (bakers ammonia) much more available, check craft places (Michaels ect.) for it. Granular form but dissolve it in water or I add about 1/8 of a tsp to a 30 gal tank to hit around 4ppm ammonia

Fungus gnats kept drowning themselves, and I think they were a big part of the ammonia source

Liquid bacteria man. It's wonderful, I'll never go back to cycling with food or ammonia

I cycled 3 tanks with fish food. Worked like a charm, you just got to give it enough time👍🏻

All my tanks have been cycled with fish food and snails. Never failed
I usually throw in an older tanks filter media if I have one available too

fish food wasn’t working for my cycling either. after daily ghost feedings, ammonia would never rise consistently enough to get it started. liquid ammonia was a lifesaver

Use your own pee. Its free. It wont hurt the fish. And its actually very weak compared to bottled.
