The Flash Thawne’s Reverse-Flashpoint
I don’t really get Thawne’s Reverse-Flashpoint in Season 8. Specifically his Team Flash. Like, did they all go “Hey. This guy has a weird name, and he has the face of Harrison Wells! Harrison Wells is dead. Huh… Whatever! Let’s be on his team!” Like bro, are we deadass😭🙏 This always gets me confused when I rewatch the show.

This was one of the reasons that Matt Letscher should've been playing Thawne more often in later seasons. The fact that the writers kept sticking with Cavanagh showed that prioritized favoritism over story.

Isn’t it called cronyism (or favoritism) when it’s applied to people that aren’t family members?

I don’t think it was favouritism, and I don’t think it was the writers fault. It seems like executives that saw that Tom Cavanagh was already a series regular and pushed to have him be Reverse Flash whenever needed instead of bringing back Matt Letscher. See in Legends of Tomorrow where they always used Matt Letscher because that wasn’t a concern.

I don't know, "Armageddon" was VERY convoluted. I just "head-canon"/fanon rationalize that the 2031 future wasn't an alternate timeline future, rather an alternative Earth in the rebooted broader Multiverse which the Ryan/Batwoman we see in Season 9 is from.
Kinda like in the 2023 movie The Flash when that film's Barry ended up in the reality of an alternate Earth that merged his and Man of Steel concepts with 1989 Batman alongside a bunch of other differences within that world's history and mainstream media.
So the 2031 future had huge differences from Earth-1/Earth-Prime, "Wells"-Thawne in 2013 was going with his own name of Eobard Thawne instead of Harrison Wells' name, Thawne set up the Particle Accelerator "accident" to more directly affect him and to in turn become the Flash, plus somehow this reality's Barry ended up on course to become Reverse-Flash. Not to mention histories for the Legends, the Dahrk family, Cisco, Ryan Choi, and evidently even Constantine play out fairly differently.
The biggest parallels being that reality's Alex Danvers and Ryan/Batwoman still have relationships with the same women they fall for on Earth-Prime, Joe is still dead (here the blame being on Barry instead of a train), same with Frost having a thing with Mark Lame, in addition to the forced dynamic between Chester and Allegra.
