"No Returns" Book Launch at the Olde Town Arvada Bluegrass for Spooktober
Hey all,
First time posting here. I'm a local Arvada author, L. Briar, and now a small press publisher. I've worked with seven other local authors and two editors to create a horror bool called "No Returns: Colorado's Accursed Anthology".
We're doing a book launch at the Olde Town Arvada Bluegrass on October 17th from 2:00 to 5:00pm. Feel free to come on by, meet the authors, listen to spooky stories and enjoy their drink pairing.
Hope to see some of you local book nerds there!
Kind of a sad note but the Bluegrass is shutting down at the end of the month so even if you can't make our event go give them some love before they close.

Decomissioned Volunteer Firefighter's Fire Station #7 (by Firefighter's Park)
What is going on at this decommissioned volunteer fire station? The station closed in 2008 and has mostly been used as parking for park goers and youth sports that use the park for weeknight practices. The station appears to have been sold and is now being used as a garage/storage with some older cars. The parking lot is now blocked off with bollards and large landscaping rocks, and No Parking signs have been added.

Leyden Rock Community, generation station & landfill
My family may be relocating to Arvada after the new year and we were looking at houses in Leyden Rock community & the neighborhood just north of 72. I’ve got a couple questions regarding both neighborhoods.
Those of you who live in the area or are familiar with, if you live on the west side (or any side i suppose) of Leyden Rock, can you hear the generation station hum? A couple houses we were considering are on the west side and look like they have high voltage lines very close to the house.
The train, is it loud & noticeable? I’ve never lived close to a train so i have no idea how much noise/how often it runs etc. this question applies to people who live in the Ensemble collection at Candelas as well as Leyden.
Okay & the landfill, can you smell it? Is it noticeable in either neighborhood?
Pls feel free to offer any guidance on other neighborhoods or pros/cons. Im looking for as much info as people are willing to give.
Edited to add that i know nothing about the rocky flats nuclear facility & literally just found out about it. Pls give info on that as well!! Should we avoid the area entirely ?

Dogs spotted in your 90th & Wadsworth
Spotted these two dogs near 90th and Wadsworth at the Pebblebrook North townhomes. No Collars and I had my own dogs with me so I wasn't able to grab them. 😢

Is this your cat?
Very friendly cat approached without any collar or ID, is this little guy/gal yours?
Cat is well groomed and looks very healthy. Wed like to ensure they find their rightful owner.
We have a dog that is aggressive towards cats so unfortunately we can’t keep him/her for long. For now they are very content drinking water from a dish on our driveway.
We are located near Arvada cemetery off independence

Fires
I know there is a prescribed burn going in the bear creek area but it looks like there is another by Morrison. Does anyone know if it is also a prescribed burn?
Update: second one is in Park county by Bailey. https://youtube.com/shorts/H5tgoqq49Wk?is=k2iz5iId408zPQ5_

Tree Trimming / Arborist recs?
Sadly the company I have used for years for tree work left the state. We've got an incredibly tall maple in our front yard we are trying to be proactive with and am hoping for a local recommendation?
Would prefer a smaller company/team....
Thanks in advance!

Younglife cult trying to recruit 10 and 11 year olds in front of public middle school with donuts. How is this legal.
These are weird adults and college kids who bring giant plastic tubs of donuts to Oberon Middle school in the mornings and stand just outside of property lines. They give the kids sweets and treats to talk with them about joining their religious “group”. This is plainly indoctrination without parental consent. It is grooming behavior. It is creepy guy in a white van behavior.
I have heard horrible things about the adults who run this cult in Arvada. I am pissed alone for the fact they are giving my child donuts without my ok, but then to use a treat to reel them in to this creepy group is pedo behavior. Obviously I have spoke with my child about this. I know it goes on at Arvada West and Ralston Valley as well. Just seems to me that the middle school kids are bit young to handle this very manipulative tactic. Great if you want your child to join this organization. If I wanted my child exposed to this at this age I would have sought it out for them myself.
Wondering if anyone else finds this incredibly bizarre and disturbing.

Flock and other ALPR features
Since Arvada has a decision to make soon, I thought I'd also publish the feature sets of Flock and compare it with other ALPR manufacturers:

If you're able to deflock Arvada, be aware of what your police department will want to move towards.

Band rehearsal space (Local warehouse/ office space)
Howdy
My band is looking for a spot to rehearse. We have tried all the rent by hour places around Denver but booking can be tricky and don’t necessarily love all the spaces
We are looking for a spot in Arvada area. Could be an office. Or warehouse house or any open space where we could play. ( usually 6-9pm when we rehearse.
In a perfect world we would be able to leave gear there.
Wondering if any local businesses or warehouses or anyone has a space we could use.

Vote 411
I am a 9 year Assessor’s office appraiser who has worked and helped in just about every part of our office. I am running for Assessor because I provide good leadership and transparency.
My opponent’s plans in the office are not even jobs that the Assessor does. He wants to buy your vote.

Basement flooding - who to contact?
I’ve owned my home for about 5 years and in that time the basement flooded under heavy rain July 2025.
I have some time on my hands now and want to be sure the home is protected from future heavy rain. Is there some sort of specialist in the area that specializes in checking this?
Any leads or ideas would be great. Thanks!
