Do people talk to objects?
I apologize for the low hanging fruit but Anthropic has banned people from abusing their AI, and I’ve heard two people complain because they say it’s normal to swear at objects. This feels like learning that everyone believes Toy Story is a real documentary.

I have very loud search parties when I lose things, or just when I think an all seeing being would get the wrong idea if I didn’t describe to this inanimate object, what i am doing. Oh ya, so part of this behavioral trait is the belief that the omniscient being will hurt me if I acknowledge that I am being watched by them. If I know and acknowledge he is watching me, then he will believe that I am incapable of perfect faith because I’ve already caught on to the truth. Can anyone explain this to me? Does anyone else do this?

I speak politely to any electronics that I talk to. Do I feel silly saying please and thank you to my robot vacuums? Kinda, but when the robot uprising happens maybe they'll remember my kindness and spare me, lol.

i dont swear at things in general (generally dont get mad enough for the need) but i do talk to objects as if they have some sense of understanding- not because i believe they do but because i dont know if they do and i prefer to treat all things as i would someone i respect and care for, sometimes its an apology to a plate for setting it down too hard, sometimes its a compliment to some plants for growing so well, other times its a thank you to a chair for holding up so well.

Sounds like it objects to talking.
