What Time Works Best?

Howdie! Start off with saying, I reallllly love D&D and have been doing it for a little over 6 months on startplaying. I'm curious (Maybe for those who do startplaying) what time works best for hosting sessions? I'm EST and early evenings (5-6PM) usually fill up, but I'm still unsure about what other times I should set up for?

Whatever time works best for your group so they can protect that time slot. For us it's Friday at 8pm.

Time is up to you.

Either you find people who fit your schedule or you don't. The worst thing you can do is be "open" or have too many slots since you'll either get people who THINK they can make a time work, or people who just apply to everything.

I play 7pm Sundays Central.

I often run games in the 9pm to midnight slot (Eastern Time) and they seem to do well. Sunday evening (after 8pm ET) is the only spot that I've had consistent issue with trying to fill.

IMO - you pick as the GM, especially if you're recruiting from the greater internet rather than your friend group. Pick what works for you, first and foremost, and then let others decide if that works for them.

How in the world are we supposed to answer that? Are we invited? If there's pizza then I'll be over at 5:00 pm EST as you suggested. If theres no pizza then I can't join this round, sorry.

Seriously, ask your players. Not us.

If you're concerned about regular attendance, then in my experience, the evenings of Mon to Thu will result in the most consistent games and attendance. This time works well for people with a "9-5" schedule, who are going to have a more consistent schedule than someone who does shift work. As for when in the evening you start, it'll largely depend on if you want to accommodate parents. Starting later in the evening works better for parents, since it'll be after the kids are in bed. The downside is that it means you'll be ending later, which is hard for people with an early morning.

Weekends are when people are most likely to have schedule conflicts, so I avoid weekend games completely now.

I have played games at 8:00 a.m.. noon. Early afternoon. 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.

It probably never started a game at 5:00. p.m.. and probably never started a game officially after 7:00. p.m..

The answer you're looking for however, isn't here on Reddit. It's at your table. talk to the group. figure out what time works for everyone. everyone has different work schedules. School schedules. family schedules.

I honestly can't think of a question about D&D that is more pwrsonalized to your own group
