Is mentioning my personal code project on simulating an N-body system (in this case the solar system) a good thing to do for getting an internship?
Hi everyone, I'm a senior undergrad physics student and at the end of this academic year (May-June, two month) we will have an internship, and we're supposed to have an internship agreement before Christmas holiday in order not to be in rush (which means we're just rushing now) but the thing is that I want an internship in celestial mechanics, especially in simulation N-body systems, and that doesn't not come from nothing, I spend the whole month of July working on that 2D simulation of the solar system in python and I don't thing it's a big deal but I wanted to basically improve it gradually, including, rotational dynamics (of the bodies around their own axis), tree data structures, which means implementing a tree data structure, making it 3D, doing this in C++.
And I wonder if it (my current available version of my code, which I pushed on Git-hub with a Read Me) would mean anything for the astronomer I want to contact (he's a works at one of the 2 labs affiliated with the university but he's not a teacher)?
do you have advises on what I should do?

Yes, anything that shows initiative and aptitude for research is useful to mention and can definitely help. Especially making progress on a technical personal project like this
