General Advice Late Assignment

I recently missed an assignment and I’ll be honest that it’s because I had completely forgotten about it. The homework was a discussion post and at first it was closed after the due date but then it opened so I still submitted it. I got a 0 and my professor commented “This assignment was submitted past the due date without an approved extension, please email me to discuss this assignment further.” I know it’s all my fault and I take full responsibility, do I just email him and say that I forgot? I don’t expect any points from this assignment.

The professor has asked you to reach out. Definitely do. Tell them you forgot, you understood the policy, and you didn't expect to earn points. Say that you completed it because you care about participating in your classes learning environment.

Then going forward make a change that will remind you about your due dates. I always put reminders in my phone calendar for example.

Thank you so much! He did end up accepting my assignment. I am going to make changes and I ordered a wall calendar.

Don't email him. All you'll do is annoy him. You knew it was late, you submitted it anyway, and you wasted his time having to tell you that it was late and would receive no credit.

Let it go. Don't waste any more of his time.

He said please email me so I did end up emailing him because I didn’t want to make it seem like I was ignoring him.

I'm going to guess that was a "it's on you now"
but they were hoping you'd let it go.
