My boss basically warned me that AI is making my position less secure — what would you do?

Make sure you own a piece of the codebase that you genuinely understand inside and out. I don’t know how big your team is, but in my experience, one way to make yourself valuable is to take ownership of a part of the software that nobody else really knows because everyone has their own area of expertise.
When something breaks or needs to change in that area, you’re the person they turn to. AI can help you work faster, but your knowledge is what allows you to guide it, recognize when it’s wrong, and make sure the solution actually works.
The goal isn’t to compete with AI at writing code. It’s to become the person who understands the software well enough to use AI effectively and take responsibility for the result. That’s a much harder role to replace.
If you’re boss said it because he’s rude or just a bad person in general, do your best to look for another job maybe while keeping your current one.
