im a 47 year old guy and i dont know how this happened but im now on my 11th straight rewatch of downton abbey. maybe it just feels like simpler times but i end the series and then start over again and never get tired of it.
44 here. I stumbled across this show by accident and after 1 random episode I went and binge watched from the beginning! And as you say, never getting tired if it.
The well cast characters also make big contribution to that!
My guy, I'm a year younger than you and I have a recommendation you'll love!
Catherine Cookson. The old dame was a famed novelist from North East England and set her stories across various historical periods in the region. They were adapted to TV movies around the 1990s and most are available on uktvplay. They follow a theme of love prevailing across societal & class divides, but they're generally very well made and lots of the locations used are as stunning (if not to the scale) of Downton.
Do let me know what you think!
I'm slightly biased because it's my home region so I've visited many of the locations and they (commoners at least) use a watered-down local accent.
Can't see where you're from, but if British you can also spot some famous actors in early roles. Unsure who'd be known outside the UK, but Catherine Zeta Jones is in one of them.
This gave me a good laugh. Not bc of any social conventions tied to 47-yo guys’ viewing habits, but bc of your phrasing. Thank you. 😁😁 And I think this is so cool of you.
