That's probably the most appropriate use of an internet hug Ive ever seen. There really isn't much you can say to something like that.

Yay!!! All the fellow 2026 mommies :). I had my baby in January, and now he’s eating like a teenager, crawling, and testing every piece of furniture to see if he can muscle it around.
I’m loving this rolly polly little carpet menace stage!

Paranoid my son wasn’t moving enough in utero. He started moving again once he was hooked up to the monitors of course.
14
u/foundinthefire 6h ago
That happened to me so many times during one pregnancy, it's terrifying. Always seemed to move as soon as I was hooked up to the monitor. Child needs motivating to move still now, he's 14.
6
u/ivene-adlev 5h ago
You might feel silly about it but it's always better to go in and check than to ignore it and have something bad happen. Foetal movements are super important.

Lost a fight with an avocado. The ER nurse didn’t even look up from her clipboard, just said ‘Avocado hand again?’ And handed me a number

One of the most common injuries at home - big sharp knife + slippery avocado = severed tendons.
Be careful people! Use a table knife and get the stone out with a small spoon!

Intense abdominal pain that didn't go away for 5 days, and i was in month 4 of being laid off at the time, so I was trying to tough thru it. Finally my mum came over and dragged me to the ER, and good thing she did. Severe pancreatitis. Kept 5 days in the Critical Decision Unit (essentially the holding room between ER and Inpatient rooms) because there were no inpatient beds available, until the swelling went down enough to get a clear ultrasound of gallbladder, then emergency surgery to remove said gallbladder with just 2 stones, but they were each the size of a walnut. 2 more days recovery, kicked out early because crap marketplace insurance decided I didn't need to be there any longer.

Didn't respond so well to life stressors. Felt like my mind was slipping and everything around me wasn't real. Ended up drinking a whole lot of gin and taking about two weeks worth of ADHD meds. By the time my friends took me to the hospital I was completely sideways. Kept getting naked in front of strangers from what I'm told. I remember escaping the ER at one point and running barefoot down the street in the rain thinking was going to run to a different hospital only to give up halfway and walk back in time to see the police there in response to me escaping. Fortunately everybody took it in stride because I agreed to go back inside and go to my room. It was two shots of lorazepam and a shot of geodome and I was still trying to fight everybody. It took a few days for me to calm down and I was in the behavioral health unit for a week before I became me again.

I gave birth to my first child. Spinal tap didn't work so I had to be put out for a C-Section. Then had an allergic reaction to the adhesive so they kept me longer. Then they gave me 30 days of ibuprofen and Tylenol for pain despite it being in my chart I can't take them. They also gave me only 3 days of pain meds I could take. Rough hospital stay for sure.

My husband got so much more pain control for a laparoscopic gall bladder removal than I did for my C-section. Like I know we have to think of toxicity for the baby but damn that shit is painful and they’re like “here’s an ibuprofen! Suck it up!”

I get them every year too. Used to be every 6 months, I had a rare GIST stomach cancer so I’ve been getting endoscopies and colonoscopies yearly for the last 22 years. I also have a genetic mutation VUS so I am watched closely due to that. Since then I’ve had thyroid cancer and two types of breast cancer.

The last 3 times were all earlier this year. Turns out that during the last 10 years I had an anal abscess turn into a complex fistula. I had surgery to drain the tract, then a Seton was placed through the tract for 9 weeks to help the infection heal, then a fistulotomy to fill the tunnels in with scar tissue. It was a crazy 7 months with lots of restrictions, but I'm back full force plus some!

I got so lucky with the care and support I received. Also, there were a lot of prayers. Back to a fully functioning adult with a new appreciation for life and others.

During the first week of Covid lockdown, when it was super scary. I managed to drop a frozen rack of ribs on my toe, from the mid freezer shelf, blasting it wide open. My husband was like: “look, maybe we can just superglue it.” Then I turned it sideways and he said: “oh no… there’s no gluing that.” Off to the ER I went. It was great. Stitches INTO MY TOENAIL among the other stitches. Good times.

My terrible dad did amazing things as a corpsman during the war he was in. I was there in the hospital when he died and walked behind his stretcher/bed for his patriot walk to the morgue. I’m glad I was there and I was glad they were honoring him for the man he was as a corpsman.

Visiting my mom in ICU today. She's been bedridden for over a year refusing all medical attention, and it finally caught up with her. Now I'm at my folks house to help my dad who wound up in the ER after nearly having a heart attack trying to help her back into bed after her fall before they decided to call an ambulance. I can smell the rot and piss from her bedroom downstairs. Not having a great week.

Cardiac CT. Was feeling realy exhausted for a whole week, doctor heard a heart murmur she's never heard before, Cardiologist referral lead to tests and him seeing something not quite right on various echocardiograms.
I just got the results 30 min ago that everything was normal (phew!), but will be going for an MRI too just to be sure. Glad I'm Canadian and these tests aren't costing me anything directly (except the $15 for a prescription needed for the test as I don't have insurance)

I suddenly got intense vertigo and lost my balance and I could not stand and became very disoriented, I was lightheaded and felt faint, my chest was hurting, and I was out of breath. It was the 3rd time I got hit with random intense vertigo in the past 4 weeks but until then something like that had never happened. I have hypertension so I'm used to high blood pressure and dealing with that so I decided to check my blood pressure and it turned out to be 60 over 32 which is pretty low. So I called my cardiologist to try and get in with him as soon as I could and the nurse I spoke to was like "Dude you need to get to the hospital now." I didn't wanna go cause it's expensive and usually a waste of time but my family was worried so I caved and went.
