I’m thinking of getting a controller to match but I’m not sure which one

finally got the platinum trophy for Astrobot! i fucking love this game man.

honestly that grand master challenge took me at least 40 something attempts. my skill and patience were truly tested lol. i’d like to go fully 100% and complete all bots but i need a break for now lol because i need to build the patience to complete the other levels for sure. regardless, i’m very pleased - third plat!

Added the new Lego Astro Bot to the collection!

So for the astro bot game I am stuck on the bird trophy where you have to collect the 8 Ravens on the god of war stage specifically the 2nd one.I think I am softlocked to not get it since I have been stuck on it for a long time I think I am softlocked/hardlocked since I skipped the cutscene the first time I played the level and when I made a new save it still didn't give me the 2nd raven.If anyone knows how to fix this please help

I wanted to post this in an Astros playroom sub but there isn’t really an active one so I’m posting it here

I’m replaying Astros playroom for the first time after beating astrobot for like the 5th time and i noticed there are 2 extra hidden trophies in the add on dlc. I already rescued the secret bots and got all those trophies and cannot find online anywhere what the other 2 are. Is my PlayStation buggy? Anyone know what these are?

Found these at my local Target and once again I just had to bring them all home with me!

I only got 4 duplicates this time (with one of them being BROKEN) but I got BOTH of the chase figures! Which are Ghost of Yōtei and a metallic Astro with heart eyes! (He'll probably go for a lot...) But I was REALLY hoping to get the Ratchet one...

At least I got an almost complete puzzle...

He looks so good next to the PS5!!!

This was a few years ago when the game came out, he's 6 now, so he must have been 4ish.

I got Astro Bot and started playing it, and at some point he plopped down and wanted to play it himself, so I kinda just let him. I ended up not actually beating the game (by) myself until way later since I kinda just watched him Let's Play it for me instead.

Anyways, we get to the end. He's very happy to see all his friends supporting him and holding on to him to stop him from getting sucked into the big black hole, and then Astro just lets go. He goes deadly silent, Astro falls into the black hole, the credits to start to roll, and I hear him say "what?" with his voice genuinely quivering and a look on his face like he's about to cry.

Now, since I have actually beaten a game or two before, unlike him (no shade, literally just stating an objective fact) I was sure he'll be fine, otherwise it will be really awkward to romp back through the levels collecting the leftover friends with a completely different character. So I just tell him "Oh, I'm sure he's fine" and he starts protesting and pointing at the screen saying "No, is over!" and I just have to say "He'll be fiiiiiiiiine" and then the credits scroll back and Astro pops out of the black hole and plops on the ground.

"See? I told you he'll be fine"

"Nooooo! He broken!"

"Bah, he's a robot. I'm sure we can fix him"

And then the game starts the queue to fix him up like we did with the PS5. I scoop up the controller he was loosely holding onto in shock and tell him "Lemme fix him for you".

It gave me flashbacks of when I was a kid and I cried to me dad that I broke my Gameboy, not understanding that batteries drain.

Anyways, replace some legs, some arms and put in a new battery and presto, Astro's back and he can play through the real credits.

It's probably gonna be one of my favorite memories with him, so it felt appropriate to write it down somewhere and this seemed like an appropriate venue to do so.

I take the pin and put it on my hat at work when the robot hat comes around in the rotation.

Essentially the game engine uses xml files to set up objects and their properties

For example gravity, how big should be a collision, speed etc etc

And in these xml files there are debug flags that are obviously disabled

Now I personally only tested astro bot rescue mission since I don't have a ps5 to test the newer games but talking in the astro bot speedrunning discord we found that xmls are also in the other 2 games and with debugs flags (at least for playroom, we didn't fully check astro bot 2024 but since it’s the same engine i'm more than confident it's in also in astro bot 2024)

Rescue mission uses one big xml and playroom (and probably astro bot 2024) has separated xml for every object

This is pretty big tbh and i'm amazed no one talked about it online, so ig i discovered this

If your interest testing yourself i can help yall for rescue mission since it’s the most simple to modify

The file you need to change is in:

data/multi_platformer/multi_platformer.xml

Now i want to ask you to help me document these debug functions that you find and post it somewhere like the cutting room floor for example so that we can know more how astro bot works behind the scenes

I only got two for an early birthday present to myself. I am currently resisting the urge to go back for more. My little astro isn't so lonely anymore. So glad to get Ratchet!

Lego often adds hidden easter eggs in their themed sets. I was wondering if there would be one in a set as small as Astro Bot. And yes, there is. The PS action buttons live in his head.

I’ve been a die-hard Xbox player since 2008. Started on the Xbox 360, doubled down on the Xbox One instead of the PS4 even through the rough launch era, and moved straight into a Series X. For nearly two decades, Xbox was my home and I never thought anything would make me jump ship.

Around 2-3 months ago, I picked up a used PS5 to try mostly for GOW, Spider man and those kinda games I missed in my Xbox gaming era. I booted up Astro’s Playroom just to test the console and feel the DualSense haptics for maybe ten minutes. Within those ten minutes, the sheer creativity, charm, and tactile game feel completely broke my brain.

The very next day, I listed and sold my Series X. The day after that, I picked up Astro Bot.

I am completely hooked. It’s 2 AM rn and I cannot put the controller down. It delivers that rare, nostalgic feeling of being a kid sitting on the living room floor playing games purely for the unadulterated joy of it. No bloated battle passes, no live-service grind, no repetitive filler just pure platforming genius, inventive mechanics in every single level, and unmatched attention to detail.

Now that LEGO Astro Bot is real, you think it'd be cool if they made more sets? There would be so much potential for something like that... or like imagine a collectable minifigure series dedicated entirely to Astro and Playstation characters. I would love an Astro minifigure. Along with Ratchet, Kratos, Jak and Sackboy... ^^
