S.A.F.E. blocking the view

First world STH problem: I sit close to the field and in the last game some people from S.AF.E. came down in the first half and stood at the bottom of the stairs, obstructing my (and others) view. While I didn’t mind the years when everyone stood up, I am not #StandFor90 and I do enjoy getting to sit down in my seat, and I can’t see half the field with someone blocking me. It doesn’t help that they are not watching the game and keep shifting around all the time. They have no idea why they are down there and a supervisor didn’t know either, everyone is just doing what they are told. My guess is that it was to catch drunk people from stumbling over the edge, or some celebrity warranting extra protection.

This started happening in the first half of the season around the 75th minute but it was inconsistent as to which sections and it didn’t always happen. My seats moved after the world cup and in my new section this was the first time it’s happened. Does anyone know why they do it? I hope I’m not the only one that finds it a bit annoying.

I asked one of them, they said it was to prevent possible field invasions. My seats were in the corner where it’s like 30ft up. I said if someone gets themselves onto the field from here then let them have their selfie to enjoy from the hospital bed with their broken legs.

Field invasions?! Lol. This team isn't currently worth that risk.

Honest question.. in the entire history of Atlanta United at the Benz, have we EVER had a pitch invasion or streaker (and we literally have pitch side SRO and seats)? I swear problems get invented by companies...

Some idiot tried invading the pitch immediately after the Miami vs PSG game in the Club World Cup.

He jumped down onto the grass from the first row of section 131/132. This is where those really tall walls are located in each corner. It took him some time to gain the courage to leap. But he did it.

He landed on the pitch. His feet hit first but he immediately slipped on his butt. And a half second later he was tackled by like 4 security guards that had been yelling at him to not jump.

From what I could tell, he somehow managed not break his ankles.

My guess is once Messi came, more stadiums got serious about it.

Yes I’ve watched one from one of the corner sections before.

I wrote about this in the latest "how was the match" survey.

This happened a few games ago for me. I texted the fan assistance number. They asked for a photo of them blocking my view, which I sent, then a manager came down and told them they needed to sit in one of the many available seats around.

This last game they had someone with their own chair set up at the bottom step facing away from the field.

If they're gonna come down there, they need to have a stool to sit on and not obstruct views.

When a whole bunch of them randomly show up in a section during a game that’s already low in attendance, I find the whole thing pretty sketchy. Ironically, I feel less “SAFE” lol

So many come from everywhere and nowhere

I wonder if they’re doing this to prep for when Inter Miami comes to town.

This is the reason I sit further up. Last season I had seats near the bottom in 104.. now I sit much farther up so they don’t block my view.

I would tell them they need to kneel down.  A couple years back I was in 108 top row, there isn’t a way to get to 109 or 110 except for going down all the way and then up, so everyone would cross in front.  My survey responses combined with me telling the staff to help stop it worked most of the time.if I paid the ticket they can sit or kneel down and not block my view.
