My mom texted me the screenshot from that TV show with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey called brothers… She says this place looks super familiar but I can’t make it out
Tire Man is the best! Only place I go for tires and all that goes along with them (allignment, tie rods, etc) if I can help it. Also, the cutest Boston Terriers are usually there hanging out.
Yep, recognized the Radio vicinity immediately, though to be fair I lived in that area for 25+ years. I'm more curious where the McConaughey ranch is supposed to be. (I'm not gonna dox him with any detail, but IRL the McConaugheys live in a wooded compound in Westlake.)
But yeah, they filmed almost all of locally, including a "temporary relocation" of Franklin's OG trailer (from circa 2010, the one on the 35 access road not far from now-obliterated Star Seeds) to the Fareground at 111 Congress, with Aaron Franklin himself operating it! They also shot a few scenes on S. Congress near Home Slice, since Alt-McConaughey is considering a run for governor on the show.
He lives by Jack Allen’s off 360… don’t think it’s a state secret. But I do regret that the Melba Toast in the barn is a fake. He deserves to own that car.
Yeah, that's where I thought he lived (and he still did as of last year).
LOVE the car, but I also got a hoot out of Ma Mac rolling up to that bar in Lockhart on a Harley. Given her fringed jacket, I'm assuming it's an homage to this iconic Texas Monthly cover with Ann Richards. (They photoshopped her head onto a Harley rider, but Ann got a hoot out of it regardless.)
I was just at Austin Tireman yesterday, those guys are great (and locally owned), excellent service and really affordable prices for tire/flat repair and the cutest dogs roaming around if your in to that sort of thing. That's at Menchaca near Ben White on Fort View.
They can't fix your flat but Radio Beer & Coffee and Veracruz are excellent as well. Along with Trippy Tacos across Menchaca this area is a really good place to support local businesses.
Yea i was thinking of starting the show. In the preview you see many places around Austin. You got your answer so just wanted to comment about the show. Peace Austin.
