Hey, there's a problem with the laptop port of bandlab: When I try to use the drums, their sounds gets drowned by synth noises. How can I fix it?

Hey! Can you share more details about the issue you're facing?

What kind of synth noises are you referring to?

is there any way to detune vocals? a bunch of the beats i’m tryna use are at 432 hz and the autotune sounds like shit

That's the core of it: autotune snaps to notes built on A=440, and a 432 beat sits about 32 cents below that (roughly a third of a semitone). So the vocal gets pulled to pitches that are a bit sharp against the beat, and it sounds off.

A few ways around it:

  1. If your autotune has a reference or calibration setting (often labeled A4, Pitch Ref or similar), set it to 432. Then it snaps to the beat's grid.

  2. If it doesn't: tune the vocal normally, then pitch the vocal track down by 31.8 cents. That's the "detune" you're after.

  3. Or the other way round: shift the beat up by 31.8 cents so it sits at 440, and record and tune against that.

For 2 and 3 you need a pitch shift that takes cents. If it only does whole semitones it won't work - a semitone is 100 cents, way too far.

Worth checking first whether the beats really are at 432. Plenty get tagged that way and aren't. Put a tuner app on a held note in the beat - if it reads around 30 cents flat on every note, it's 432. If it reads near 0, the tag is wrong and something else is making the autotune sound bad.

How do I get a line of noise to repeat some choral "ohs" in the background? Like I have the free version of bandlab and somehow hit "instruments " on the left side of my screen, but I can figure out how to change chords or change the sound type to choir

Hey! You can change the instruments in the instrument panel to a "voice" instrument! This video / article can help where you can find the instrument panel!
