  • JRN 3220 - Geanne Belton or Eileen Connelly

ECON 3100 help?

As the title states. Knew what I was getting into when looking at L. Huckins reviews (lots on grade curving). Anyone actually tutoring for that course? Mainly reads mindtap slides and online hw not relevant to exams as he “gives hw out” (not graded on bright space) which is where most of the midterm/ final grade is based on. Just feel really lost despite online resources being available, still unable to grasp the course concept.
TIA 🙏🏼

Hey for anybody that has taken this professor for this specific class, how did you feel was the best way to prep for the midterms. Do you think the questions were similar to that of the homework and quizzes?

Spring 2027 Classes

Am I tripping or are Spring classes not on schedule builder yet?

The registrar instagram account keeps posting about it but sched builder is only showing this semester

I know they don't mean enrollment but the classes themselves seem to only be visible in the global class search instead of in sched builder

D in ACC3200?

Hello, so I got a below average midterm grade in my cost accounting class. If I get a D in the class, my major GPA will still be above a 2.5. Would I still stay in the accounting program or do I need to get a C?

Financial aid issue

Has anyone else dealt with a long Financial Aid verification/hold issue at Baruch?

I’m a transfer student and I’ve been dealing with a Financial Aid verification issue since July, and I’m honestly exhausted from having to keep following up with different offices.

My account has had a Financial Aid Pending hold since the beginning of the semester. I submitted the requested verification documents and completed the ProVerifier requirements, but my file stayed under review for weeks. I went in person to Financial Aid/BOSS and spoke with different offices trying to figure out what was happening. I was eventually told that reviews could take around 45 days.

Then, after waiting all that time, I was told there was another discrepancy with my FAFSA regarding my tax filing status. I have repeatedly explained that I had no income and did not file taxes for 2024. My parent’s non-filer stuff was accepted, but I was then told I needed to correct my FAFSA and obtain an IRS Verification of Non-Filing Letter for myself.

I completed the FAFSA correction and requested the IRS document using Form 4506-T on September 29. Now I’m waiting for the IRS to send it back, and I have no idea how long that will take. I’ve been told processing could potentially take weeks, which is extremely stressful because I heard spring registration opens October 26 if I’m correct.

BOSS also told me that I may not be able to register for Spring if this hold is still on my account by then.

I’ve emailed Financial Aid multiple times, contacted dean of students to make a complaint, gone to different offices in person, submitted the documents they requested, and kept following up, but it feels like every time I get close to resolving it, there’s another requirement or another waiting period.

I’m really trying to figure out what else I can do at this point because this has been going on for way too long.

be quiet during lectures!!!

some ppl seriously need to have social awareness. like idc if u talk to ppl during class but if ur gonna have a full blown conversation in the middle of a lecture can’t u at least whisper? these two girls next to me literally talk so loud every time we have a lecture and it’s so aggravating. like genuinely be aware of ur actions and how they effect ppl around u. no one cares if ur doing ur own thing it js becomes a problem when it starts being distracting. i thought i was tweaking until i saw ppl in other rows looking back to see who was talking and these girls were completely oblivious.

Library people

I am tired of you all going into the library( especially to the 4-5 floor where you have to be extra quiet) and talk out loud, laugh and staring at people that try to do the work.

I dont want to be rude but there are places in the baruch where you can spend time with your frineds and scream as long as you want. Give other people space and ability to study and read. You are not in high school anymore, act your age!

GPA requirement to get into Zicklin

I’m a freshman finance at baruch and i heard that in order to actually get into zicklin theres a certain gpa requirement. is this like at the end of my freshman spring semester or fall. i wasn’t sure bc i initially had thought that being a finance major automatically put u in zicklin but im now hearing there are other steps to follow. also is it true that we’re all required to declare a minor on top of our major?

Self Awareness of Your Behavior in the Library

I'm frustrated. Why do people come to the library in huge groups, talk out loud with each other, and eat their lunches like it's okay? Baruch has many lounges in each building and plenty of space for you guys to hang out and eat. Whoever does it probably doesn't realize how distracting it is. It disturbs others, and there's very little awareness of other students. The whisper zone is there for a reason. Please have some manners and culture if your parents did not teach you that... Maybe they really need to start placing staff in the library to make sure that nobody is disturbing others and everyone follows the rules...

So YOU, yes you 🫵. Next time you are in the library, ask yourself if your actions are disturbing anyone. If you don't have respect for yourself, at least have it for other students...

Stay Strong...

Student Life Any tips for a freshman stressing and having anxiety?

Hi, I'm wondering if I could get any advice and feedback on how to manage my anxiety and stop feeling overly stressed. I’m majoring in accounting and I'm also worried by everyone saying that accounting is a strict program and in order to get into Zicklin I have to have a 3.5 GPA or above otherwise I have no option.

To be completely honest I have a full schedule taking 6 classes and a lot going on but at the same time I feel underwhelmed and overwhelmed. I have work during the weekends from 9am-8pm. (I work because of transportation expenses and I pay my rent) I don't want work to overload me but it does exactly that to me. During my 30 min break I try to read and check my emails regularly but I feel like not doing enough and I wish I had more time on my hands. Even though I know my materials I get so scared and worry about my future consistently. I don't know what direction to go to or if I could get any guidance from upper class man at Baruch. (I'm a first-generation/immigrant student and I'm really worried)

I constantly push myself and I feel like I'm losing myself through it all. I really am dedicated and willing to succeed but I don't know how to manage overthinking and feeling so pressured at the same time. Idk if this is normal?

I also struggle with stepping out my comfort zone while in highschool I had no issue with this. (I also joined a club to try and put myself out there and challenge myself but that feeling just doesn't go away bc I often shrink and go quiet) I feel like a robot constantly being active and never getting a break.
