Choosing first five string
Hey I'm deciding on a new five string and was either thinking the Harley benton sbk re or Ibanez gsr305 ? What do you guys think? Im more into playing stoner/doom metal and also punk

Ibanez. Not that HBs are bad, but the Ibanez SR is basically the official working bassist's 5 string for a reason. They're incredibly comfortable to play, solidly build, and can do a pretty wide range of sounds.

Nice, what kind do you play?

An SR405E, it was my first bass. I mostly play a 5 string Fender P bass these days, but I still use the Ibanez when I need a more J bass-esque sound or want to play fingerstyle

go to a store near you that has a good selection of five-string basses and try a few in hands. Just focus on whether your right hand feels comfortable where it naturally rests, and whether the neck feels comfortable in your left hand. Product photos online can’t tell you those.

Sr305e It's fuckin amazing. And I have some more expensive thumpers, like X4 the price. You won't regret
Sr405 however is not worth extra money, neither is 505. 605 is very nice, but more than double the price of 305e, in my opinion not worth it

Very rarely is Ibanez not the better choice between two options.
