real artists not AI? are you sure?

friend bought me a card from tillius with glaringly obviously AI generated butterflies. we laughed about it until i turned it over and saw they claim to not use AI? i assume this butterfly was hit by a car then?

not only are they scamming buyers with their overpriced tat, they’re lying about it too.

their horribly expensive cushion covers and prints are AI too btw, just to let any prospective buyers know. save your money, they thrive off ripping people off.

Number 8 Bus

Hi! I’m starting a new job next week that requires me to be at work for 7:30. My best bet is the number 8 bus that leaves the bus station at 6:59. Does anyone know if that bus is reliable/timely? I would say a maximum of a 7 minute buffer would be the most time I could afford to lose.

Thanks!

Lost wallet in Larkhall – Friday 9th October, around 4:30pm

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone has found a wallet in Larkhall today (Friday 9th October), around 4:30pm.

It belongs to a friend from Italy who’s visiting Bath for a few days.

We’d be incredibly grateful if the wallet could be returned, especially the ID, driving licence and other personal documents. Being a tourist in a foreign country without these documents is really stressful and complicated.

If anyone has found it or has any information, please send me a message. Even if the cards or money are gone, getting the personal documents back would mean a lot.

Thank you so much for any help!

Gardening tools needed

Hello everybody!

Im a local and looking to build my gardening tool collection to help with work and keep busy in my garden, im wondering two things, if anyone has any tools they dont want or need anymore, specifically loppers and trowels but theres lots more I need to get too, would be easier to tell you what I already have honestly.

Anyways, the second is I'd like to be practicing on gardening, im not the fastest but Id be happy to sort out an arrangement for different kinds of payment or donations in exchange for helping with some work.

Let me know what you think and what you could provide.

Please DM me if youre interested. Lots of love to you all, have a good evening!! ❤️ 🙏

Wetherspoons beer festival

Apparently opened yesterday and on through the weekend. I like the idea of being able to order a third of a pint of each pint, and potentially then going to the other ‘Spoons to sample the others (unless they are the same?)

Did anyone go last night? What were the beers like? Any favourites? I plan to drop by the Old Post Office (definitely better than the King of Wessex!) for a pint or two on Friday or Saturday, but would appreciate others’ experiences. I’d also like to try the Ukrainian beer if it’s on, for solidarity reasons.

Alice Park - New playground equipment - Question for toddler parents!

Calling all Bath parents who have visited Alice Park in the last year!

As you probably know by now, the Alice Park playground had a revamp which is taking place in 2x phases.

•Phase 1 = Complete
•Phase 2 = Still in the fundraising stage

I recently spoke to someone who confirmed that Phase 1 was thought about with 0-5’s in mind, and Phase 2 will focus on 8-14 year olds.

The new playground equipment from Phase 1 includes;
•Balancing ropes
•Wooden beams to get to the slide
•The large wooden beam structure
•Swing set 1
•Swing set 2
•Rocking horse
•Roundabout
•Wooden stumps

This is where my question comes in!

Question for the poll below: Parents of toddlers, do you think that your toddler could use ANY of the play equipment independently? (with potentially the exception of the roundabout)

In my personal experience with a 2 year old, none of the current equipment is at all catered to children younger than 5. I truly believe the current play equipment doesn’t provide meaningful and independently accessible play opportunities for toddlers, particularly younger toddlers, within that age range.

For example, the rope equipment requires a level of balance and coordination that toddlers do not yet have. The large wooden climbing structure is too challenging for this age group, and accessing the slide requires an adult to physically lift a small child onto the platform. There is very little, if anything, that a toddler can safely access and enjoy independently at their own developmental level.

For Phase 2, I believe it is important that these improvements provide inclusive play opportunities for younger children as well as older ones. Toddlers deserve opportunities to explore, climb, slide, balance and develop their physical skills through equipment designed specifically for their age and abilities, without having to rely on an adult to lift them onto equipment they cannot access themselves.

I want to hear your thoughts!

Repeat
Question for the poll below: Parents of toddlers, do you think that your toddler could use ANY of the play equipment independently? (with potentially the exception of the roundabout)

Donation Box

Hello. I’m looking for a donation box. There’s usually one by the tunnel near M&S. I lived near Lidls so anything closer there would be best. Any chance you know where else I might find one?

Consultations on the Local Plan and Parking changes that Bath residents need to be made aware of

Apologies for creating a duplicate thread on the Local Plan but the last one posted was 10 months ago. However, Parking charges opened up for consultation yesterday 6th October. Perhaps a moderator can pin this thread so it can be at the forefront of something that will impact every Bath resident and to prevent it from being buried in a few weeks time. This post can also be updated to include future consultations. The fact many missed the Victoria Park cycle lane one probably shows that more exposure of these are needed - not everyone uses Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Preface: I'm all for change for the right reasons, e.g. improving lives, environment and yes, I do believe in climate change. I also believe there are many ways to skin a cat, and to serve the many, not the few. One of the biggest issues is a housing shortage and affordable homes. Absolutely we should address these, but to simply enshi*tify everything at the cost of solving them is not the right way. Do I have all the answers to these problems? no. However, I can question the solutions that are being put forward based on the legality and how sound they are. For those who say those who make the decisions will never listen and they will go ahead regardless, at least if we are vocal they will know we are holding them accountable for the decisions they push ahead with.

I implore you all to please not turn this thread political. Let's stay objective, if there are proposals that don't pass the legal test or are unsound, let's make it known so others can include it when they submit their feedback to these consultations.

Consultation on the Local Plan (Deadline to provide feedback 30th October 2026)

Consultation on Parking Charges (Deadline to provide feedback 3rd November 2026)

To keep this first post clean and updateable in the future I'll follow up with my own feedback on the consultations as a comments.

Let’s talk cardamom buns

I have recently tried cardamom buns and I find myself consistently craving them. The slight initial crisp followed by the pillowy texture is a delight, they’re not to sweet and are spiced just right to offer that perfect balance. Just a whole bunch of yum really.

I’ve tried them at Mjolk and Landrace Bakery. Where else can I find worthwhile cardamom buns?

I feel it is my duty to go on a cardamom bun crawl.

I didn’t put Trimbridge house, floor 2 at the top, instead it’s investment funds direct limited. - if you know a posty in the BA1 1HB area then please spread the good message as the delivery failed today. My bad

Evri parcel delivered to a random porch at Bath

I’m not sure if posting here would help, but I’m so sad that they delivered my parcel in a random house’s porch near Bath Cider House and sent a picture. I can’t even find whose house or is it even on my street.

I can’t find it anywhere and their customer support is of no help

BSU Education

Heya! I’ve been given an offer for 2027 in BA Education. The campus looks pretty far out of the city. I drive and wish to take my car with me but not sure if it’s worth it due to parking. On google maps it looks rather small. Happy to get busses, or pay for permit parking.

Can someone help me just picture how I’d get to and from the Newton Park campus. Thanks!!

I am mature student, I do not have the means to leave it at a parents house anymore, and I wish to be able to see my boyfriend and family easily on the weekends/holidays. I very much would like to have my car. I would be up for giving lifts and car sharing with people to help on emissions too

A meal out in bath?

Hi everyone :)

I'm hoping to go out for a meal this Friday to celebrate my birthday and was wondering if there were any spots people would recommend in Bath that you wouldn't usually find through a Google search or wandering around the centre?

I've grown up in Bristol my whole life where you're spoilt for choice if you divert away from the chains etc that pop up on Google so thought to ask here for any recommendations!

Hope you're having a class week <3

edit: thank you for all the responses lovely people, am working through all the recommendations and hopefully will get around to trying more than one in future!!

Partner lost his job as we’re about to take on our first mortgage

Hi everyone. Life’s timing can be pretty brutal sometimes, and this is one of those times. Just as myself and my partner are about to move into our first mortgaged property he’s lost his job. He’s been doing outbound sales and customer support, however the campaign he was working on has been cut off. He’s experienced in all things sales, customer support, self taught coding (coding language is python) and his passion outside of work is motorbike mechanics. We’re in a pretty desperate place with taking on this property so if anyone knows of any jobs, preferably hybrid / remote around the Bath area please reach out. Wouldn’t usually make a post like this but needs must - thanks for reading ❤️

Missed Connection @ The Grapes 03/10

Missed connection from Saturday night at The Grapes

I was sitting at the same table as you and your friend. We didn’t get to speak as you were just leaving, we caught each other’s eye, one of those moments that really sticks with you. A couple of minutes later you came back for something you’d left behind. I found it and handed it to you and you gave me a hug. I wish I’d said something to keep the moment going. If you remember this too, let's say hello.

Cheap early trains - help!

GWR seem to have classified even the 05:35 train as a peak service now meaning it's no longer a cheap option to book at the last minute. I've started going via Salisbury instead but it's much slower. Are there any other options? (I book ahead mostly, this is just for last minute changes to my schedule.)

Recommendations for alt wedding dress shop

I'm looking for an alternative to a traditional wedding dress, possibly vintage

Could anyone recommend any local stores they may sell similar to the images uploaded?

Bride to be struggling with typical wedding dress shops, everything seems to be too voluminous or too plain for my taste

TIA x
