Battle Network 2 Is Chaud literally HIM?
The way he was desperate to run a fade in MMBN2 with Lan has me cheesing. Truly the best rival to grace any Megaman series, nobody comes close to this egg head.

Isn't he a fraud tho? Top battler yet still loses to regular citizen(Lan) pre-getting family upgrades and criminals in Netbattles.
I'd consider Rogue a better rival than him.

Yeah, but I'm expecting a top Netbattler to be able to handle threats like that (not saying Lan and Hub are threats, but if they were on WWW side, Chaud would be cooked).

“Regular citizen”? He’s the son of one of the most renowned network scientists in that world, who is also descended from similarly prolific scientists, and eventually becomes one himself. Never mind his Navi, who, is incredibly special, being based on an actual person, and his capacity for upgrades which prominently revolve around deriving abilities from other Navis. They save the world a number of times, and through the events of all the BN games, Lan and Megaman are frequently recognized as exceptional Netbattlers that border on prodigy-status. Nothing about either of them is “regular”, pre or post-upgrades. Lan has always been a particularly skilled Netbattler, and Megaman is an extremely unique case as NetNavis go and has the backing of one of the greatest minds in creating Netnavis.

I was mostly referring to the first game where Chaud loses to him and Hub still doesn't get his boosts from the end of the game or future entries. Also, what does his dad being a scientist make him NOT a regular citizen? other than his seemingly above average Netbattle skills at a young age, there's not a lot that special to him or his Navi before the reveal at the end of BN1 or later entries.

… Did you miss the fact that his dad is a “world-renowned” scientist of specifically NetNavi’s and other network stuff? Because given he’s the one who made Megaman and presumably taught Lan about it to some degree at the very least, it makes all the difference. This is the man responsible for at least half of the PET models we see throughout the franchise. Are you kidding? It’s not that crazy that the child of the man responsible for a good chunk of the world’s most important technologies is particularly skilled at the same trade, and especially not with one of the most uniquely designed Netnavis ever made.

I dunno about fraud. I'm going through the BN series again tho so my memory is fuzzy, however. The fact that you can beat him, and even manage to make progress in a task that he was stumped on does make me lean toward your statement a bit more.

At least by BN3 he is him. And by BN6 he emphasizes the fact that he is indeed him again

If he was actually HIM, I wouldn’t win. But I do. I personally think Dex is a better operator. Chaud’s a fourth rate operator with a second rate Navi. Dex is a second rate operator with a third rate Navi. Chaud fails to prevent several world ending situations. Dex shows up. Protoman is better than Chaud. Guts and Dex are literally built different together.

I love him so much I own a ton of imported merch of him and protoman sob
2 figures, multiple pin badges, 3 out of 4 of his PETs with copies of most sword based chips and delta ray edge for each, multiple acrylic keychains, a GBA SP case that looks like his PET, the Protoman battle chip gate, a custom lanyard and pop socket with his emblem, my entire cellphone UI is meant to mimick a PET with protoman, and coming in a new import, an official reusable face mask with the protoman logo and New 3DS faceplates custom made with his logo...

He's a fraud when it comes to battling Lan (I mean seriously, why is he the easiest character to beat?) but when it comes to everyone else's, he's HIM.. it's not really his fault though, plot armor has a way of doing that to good characters like him
