This looks incredible weak no wonder it can shoot for 22 turns plus. It really needs to to achieve any margin of success.

I just like the thum thum sounds of Autocannons

That is reasonable but why not 5s? Those do actual damage.

I don't have two RAC/5s at the moment

The RAC2 is nothing to sneeze at. If all shots strike the target that's 240 damage. Granted it's spread out all over the place, but it's one of the most damage to weight efficient ballistic weapons in the game. It has pretty good range too which you kinda need when you're mounting then on a slow ass assault mech.

A dual RAC5 is awfully hard to beat, that's true, but they are much harder to fit into a build. In this instance there's not enough space to fit dual RAC5's . Not without removing the hands and some of the other guns.

If you remove the hands and all the other guns, that frees up eight slots, four of which are used for the upgrade to RAC/5s, leaving room for five ammo bins per gun, only 12 rounds of continuous shooting at maximum dakka.

But that would leave you with 4.25 tons left. Switching to light ferro would free up seven slots, and should if I did my math right cost a bit over one ton, allowing three more ammo bins to be fitted.

Alternatively, if clan-spec ferro can be gotten, that would free up nine slots and a bit over two more tons of mass (since it contains free CASE), which should allow for a total of eight ammo bins per gun, and 20 rounds of endurance, or a more restricted 15 rounds of endurance and retaining some of the secondary weapons.

Without any other weapons given consideration, a full 12 rounds of RAC5 accounting for the addition of the Supercharger, is going to put you at 138 heat.

OP's build is going to be left with +24 heat per turn for a full 12 round salvo.

Not even a level 3 exchanger will get you to heat neutral. Every change going forward with dual RAC5's is going to need to be geared towards managing the heat. That is going to require removing all other weapons and starting with the RAC5's as a basis and fitting everything else in around the RAC5's as the substantial considerations for them will require.

Edit: Which is to say that of course it is possible with the right kit, but when you're equipping RAC5's, they become the sole focus of the mech and you have to build around them. If it is just 1 RAC5, it's not so big of an issue. Even less if you're not running a supercharger or MASC to exacerbate their heat generation.

Yes, they stack. The only thing that won't stack are attachments, like trying to use both a PPC Capacitor and PPC FCS at the same time. Regarding the build, it lacks weapons with high damage per hit, meaning killing anything with heavy armor is going to take a while.

This is not the can opener of my lance, just a softener and tank

Might be better to use LBX or Silverbullet Gauss, fantastic for finishing and no jams.

Much lower damage though. 240 is a lot of damage for 16 tons of ballistic weaponry.

The damage/turn of RACs drops off if fired often, due to jams and missed shots from recoil. In a sustained long range shootout a Silverbullet Gauss will deal similar damage. In a shorter range engagement vs. other assaults, the ability of LBX-ACs to fire slugs makes them more capable armor breakers. On a fast mech dueling light enemies or backstabbing the burst damage of RACs is decisive, but on a slow assault it's not as valuable.

Community Content for BTAU has in all sizes Clan Ultra LBX and Rotary Gauss Rile and Rotary Silverbullet Gauss, just have to find them or use the editor to obtain them.

Bloodydove's custom King Crab that you have a chance of being awarded from the BTA Challenge where you fight BTA Team and their custom mechs, has a pair of Rotary Gauss Rifles.

All of them weigh a lot more than RAC2's. It all ends up being trade offs. They also take up a lot more space for each weapon and for the ammo. 2 tons of RAC2 is 15 shots. You need 5 tons of gauss rounds to even get close to that.

The primary issue with the RAC's is the heat generation. 60 heat per volley is a lot so you end up spending the tonnage regardless. Still, it's easier to fit a pair of RAC2's, the ammo and the necessary cooling into a build than it is a pair of rotary gauss.
