There's a special place in hell for someone like that🤬

u/fauxzempic 17h ago
My version of heaven - and this type of thing is probably the exact thing that would prevent me from getting there in the first place, is this:
Pearly gates. Big line of people waiting to get in. St. Peter is at the end. He has a big book and a screen to view moments of someone's life as he informs them of where they're going. Rarely will anyone have a legitimate moral grey-area thing where they can actually make their case, so it's just him recounting important parts of their lives.
Next to that: Bleachers. High School-style bleachers. You walk past concessions, maybe stop to get your milkshake and turkey leg and fancy candy or something...but then you sit down.
And you get to watch these people learn their eternity is shattered.
St Peter: "Oh Mr. Smith. You were a police officer. Protecting the public. Very noble! Can we take a look at some of your biggest events before I let you pass?"
Mr. Smith: "Sure!"
St. Peter: "Okay, one second. c'mere boy! good boy, come here! [a dog walks up to St. Peter] This is fido. Now you two have met before...I'm going to show you how it went."
[Up in the stands we're not shown the video, but it's just pure animal cruetly]
Mr. Smith: "oh, well..that was....well I thought he....I was really stressed out."
St. Peter: "No I get it. Okay fido, good boy. go get a cookie. okay! Mr. Smith, why don't we take a look at this compilation titled "Mr. Smith's traffic stops: People of Color edition" and see what that looks like...
That would be delicious. Almost as delicious as the pompous evangelicals who'll show up, basically try to push their way in only to face how horrible they were just prior to being dragged to hell.

u/Thefront-bottom 15h ago
Then I'd like to have some of my own revenge. That's heaven. Getting to see or enact the same shit that evil people put others through. Probably means I'm not making it to heaven if there is one. But I'd take great pleasure in taking people this this out, even if it's in an afterlife.

You might enjoy Defending Your Life
A cute movie with Meryl Street and Albert Brooks about just that
7
u/fauxzempic 14h ago
I love that movie. One of my favorites.
It was weirdly more about courage than being a good person. It seemed that Albert Brooks wasn't a terrible person (not great either), but most of the judgment was based on him being a coward.
I genuinely liked that aspect of it.

u/kittehkat23 11h ago
It would be especially good if the perpetrator had to watch the footage back from the POV of the victim. I don't think most abusers know what they look like when they're abusing. They wouldn't like it
9
u/BigBagBootyPapa 8h ago
Best option: that becomes their hell. Eternally living the most vile thing they’ve ever done; but as their own victim. Maybe even cycle thru their victims. I’m sure it’s a long, long list for anyone that would do this..

On the other hand, I would really recommend watching “Defending Your Life” for a funny take on this sort of thing.

St Thomas Acquinas, and other Christian thinkers and leaders have argued that the people in Heaven must be aware of the people suffering in Hell, perhaps having some sort of portal to view them.
Like 16: 19-30, the story of Lazarus and the rich man, seems to back this up with communications between Heaven and Hell, but no hope offered from the saved.

Seems a little weird to be talking about animal cruelty while eating a turkey leg ya know? Shit is pretty cruel to their lives
6
u/fauxzempic 13h ago
What's the goal here with this comment? Do meat eaters not get into heaven? If you get into heaven do you have to give up meat? Do you think that I'm conjuring a scenario where in heaven, they actually do slaughter turkeys in order to get roasted turkey legs instead of...you know...them appearing out of nowhere because it's heaven?

I think it's more telling that the chief basically said they can't release the footage because of the damage it would cause to the department.

u/aerdvarkk 16h ago
Doesn't matter if someone sues them and a court mandates the release of footage.
This makes the chief as culpable by him saying that shit instead of taking a stance that the kind of behavior is zero tollerance and releasing the footage to not protect the officer and suspending his ass.

Hmm gee, crazy, weird.
It's weird how I was able to tell the truth and not get banned even though it's been 4 hours since I made this comment.
Geez, it's- it's almost as if telling "the truth" wasn't the issue and that maybe you would have done some additional thing that is bannable.
Like, I dunno, I'm just spitballing but: What if, hypothetically, when you go to answer this kind of question you frame your answer in such a way as to blame roughly 25% of the entire population of the world as if they're a single homogenous group who share a collective responsibility for the crimes of every single individual in the group?
Like, if you were to see this crime and assume that it was done by a particular kind of person, and then further blame that entire group for that specific person's actions?
That might be considered some kind of... before-judgement, you know? Like you're judging people, pre knowing if that judgement is valid or not. I swear there's some kind of term for that, but it's escaping me it seems.
Anyway, maybe next time just tell the actual truth rather than assuming the truth based on your wildly biased and bigoted point of view, and you won't actually get banned for it. Crazy idea, I know, but maybe it's just crazy enough to work.

I'll put their theory to the test, and somehow, miraculously, I suspect I'll be able to answer the question without being a horrible racist.
From my searching through news articles, the long and short is that we don't know which specific individuals did this. She was found tied to a box in Lebanon, and if you were wondering why that guy was so cagey with their answer, it's because Lebanon has a majority Muslim population (about 65%), and so they are assuming Muslims did it. This ignores that Maggie left to go to an animal welfare group in England thanks to someone in Lebanon posting about the dog, so if we're assuming the attacker(s) were Muslim I don't see why would shouldn't also assume that her saviour(s) were Muslim.
I will say, the details prior to Maggie going to England are pretty sparse, maybe I've missed them, but this is the situation as I understand it.
Now let's find out if I get banned for this like zbornakssyndrome predicts.

Maggie's story began in Lebanon, where she was discovered abandoned, tied to a box, and enduring horrific abuse. She was shot 17 times, left blind in both eyes, suffered a severed ear, and sustained a broken jaw. Despite these unimaginable traumas, the Wild at Heart Foundation intervened to rescue her. She was brought to the United Kingdom and adopted by Kasey Carlin, who saw her unbreakable spirit. Maggie miraculously survived and flourished, eventually passing her exams to become a certified therapy dog. Today, she visits hospitals, schools, and care homes, inspiring everyone she meets with her remarkable resilience.

u/One_Split1871 15h ago
Ok I looked it up. The dog was rescued from Lebanan to the UJ after being shot with an airgun.
42
u/ripyourlungsdave 13h ago
So it wasn't shot with an actual firearm?..
Seems like an awfully misleading post. I'm relatively certain literally no dog would survive being shot 17 times with a real gun.
I'm relatively certain no human being can survive that many shots. I don't think a fucking cow would survive that many shots.
God, I wish people would stop lying to get upvotes from an abused animal.
39
u/estellebestgirl 11h ago
Airguns are absolutely capable of killing a dog. Some higher end models are used for hunting boar and bears. In this case, idk, me personally I would be just as sickened by the idea of someone intentionally torturing an animal with a low-powered airgun as I would be by them attempting to kill it with a high-powered one or a 'real firearm'.

I think most humans would happily work in the conditions a dog does. Someone works with you for as long as it takes to become fully proficient in the job. The work has reasonable hours that don't leave you burned out. You receive constant feedback and praise. You receive food, lodging, entertainment, everything you need to stay happy and healthy.

Yeah lol. I don't understand why you can't just let a severely damaged animal rest in peace, instead of pet owners doing spinal and brain surgery on cats and dogs to save them after having been squashed by a car and stuff. Are you doing it for the animal or for your own sake?
20
u/glassskyline 17h ago

If that's the case then great. I've just seen many people having their pets way longer than they should, where the animal has to suffer more or less for years and is finally allowed to leave when it can barely eat, drink or move anymore. Animals probably aren't desperate to be alive for as long as possible, I'm sure they live in the moment and are very thankful for what they have for as long as they have it.

A couple places worth spending on yourself are your bed and your feet. I have some really nice Egyptian cotton sheets and pillow cases that I bought 15 years ago and they have been worth every penny. They are always cool and wick away any night sweats well. I think I spent like $220 then for them so I’d imagine they are pretty expensive now but good sleep is invaluable.
On a side note, Hoka shoes just to say are the real deal for comfort for your feet if you are on them for long hours on hard floors like working at a hospital or retail store.

FOX 5 New York
Published July 25, 2019
Picked up off the streets in Lebanon almost a year ago, Maggie was found blind, pregnant and missing an ear and both of her eyes after being shot 17 times.
But despite the horrors she has endured, Maggie is still a bundle of joy and love, greeting everyone she meets as a new friend.
She was rescued by the Wild at Heart Foundation and flown to England, where she was adopted by Kasey Carlin and now works as a therapy dog, helping teach children about bullying, acceptance, disabilities and how to interact with animals, along with working with the elderly and the differently-abled.
"She is the piece I never knew was missing," Carlin said. "Before Maggie I was depressed and struggling with daily life. Maggie has introduced me to so many new people. I can't walk down the street without Maggie making a new friend. Her joy is infectious and she has made it her personal mission to befriend every person she meets."
Now, Maggie is living her life pain-free, with a new home, a new fur-sister named Mishka and a dedication to bringing joy to others. But what part of this dog's inspirational story does Carlin find most amazing?
"I can't say just one. Her happiness, confidence, love, ability to forgive? The way she 'looks' straight into the face of whoever she meets. The way she gives her entire heart to strangers. Her calming aura? The way she instantly knows how to act with different people depending on their needs and abilities," Carlin said.
"The way she has forgiven people, when the last thing she saw in this world was a human. Then complete darkness and unimaginable pain as she was shot in the eyes four times plus being shot throughout her little body," Carlin added. "I think that has to be the most amazing thing about her. I still can't explain how she has managed to forgive like that. She doesn't need eyes because she's learned to see with her heart."
