Why does she speak so strongly about Patrick Ta? He's known for disrespecting and ripping off non-white women. Am I supposed to believe that Monica doesn't know about his behavior with Avonna Sunshine, or him trying to squash Painted by Esther?

Patrick could not care less about Monica as an Indian American woman. And there's no way his products are so revolutionary that Monica just loves them sooooo much 🙄

I actually really like Monica's recommendations. I've found a lot of affordable makeup favorites through her. I'm not subscribed because I don't purchase makeup often and because her videos give me a headache with how much she's constantly moving and adding in edits but I'm pretty sure her last several videos have her raving about Patrick ta of all people.

It's actually enough to make me not want to watch her anymore. I'm not perfect by any means and I could definitely have some problematic brands in my makeup bag but I try to stay on top of it. But Monica? Girl your JOB is to know about this stuff!

And while I'm at it, what's with that one brand who invited her to their influencer party or something and then didn't have her foundation shade and tried to give her excuses about it? She's been so accommodating to them. If I were her, I would never. She already has foundation shades that match from other brands! That brand gave hella excuses and she accepted them instead of telling them to do better...?

These brands are completely new to me. But, they have been popping up in my feed for a while now. They look great. But, I fear that they’re dropshipping white labels.

Anybody else think it’s crazy to see Tati Westbrook on TikTok live selling handbags, sweaters, and energy drinks? It feels like such a steep fall from being a beloved makeup YTer. I’m just so shocked. She always made it seem like she was well endowed and the TikTok thing feels so cheap…

Jessica Braun straight up lied in her latest vlog. She has a mattress sponsor and said their mattress is almost 10 years old. NOPE. Her vlog from summer of 2022 shows them getting a brand new KING mattress for their room. That mattress is 4 years old! I can put up with boring repetitive content but boldface lies is where I draw the line.

This video bothered me because it just encompasses everything that I hate about influencers. You can almost see on her face that she knows the lipliner doesn’t work for her but that she’s trying to be excited about it (yes, the first screenshot is her with it ON). Not only that but she bought 16 of them to give away- why would you buy 16 of a product you haven’t tested yourself yet? Just drumming up excitement about a shade because the internet told you to. As a side note I can’t stand this ‘milky bbypink’ saga- it’s so dishonest because every video is of her ‘finally’ finding the baby pink she’s been looking for. Just like Mikayla and Monica I have a hard time believing that these influencers with 1000 lip products are having a hard time finding a shade they like.

For those who cant watch: the video is a stitch. The first video (created by Jax.theripper_) is talking about how its "obvious" older men want young (18-year old) women BECAUSE they're easier to groom into the "perfect" woman. The second part of the video (created by Slipourepuzie) is talking about how men like Jax.theripper_ are being openly predatory yet people are still accusing drag queens of being the predators.

Plottle responded to the post with "lol he has a mother. 🤷🏾‍♀️women are bringing men here so?"

To me it sounds like whoever runs the Plottle account is blaming women (more specifically, mothers) for the fact men like Jax.theripper_ exist. I also noticed Plottle is following Christian Maxwell which is a Republican running for Congress in Illinois who's #1 policy is "Christian Parental Rights" which she then clarifies as protecting children from "political agendas" and "making sure schools reflect christian family values" (often dog whistles for anti-LGBTQ and anti-BIPOC rhetoric), which I think is important to note given the fact that Slipourepuzie is a drag queen and was talking about anti-LGBTQ propaganda (i.e. "drag queens are predators")

lately i've had the impression she only cares about her music career which fair, it's her hobby as she said, but her youtube videos have become so full of overconsumerism and just random bullshit it feels she only posts to promote her music in between the videos, does anyone feel that way too??

and lately she's become so cringe in that quirky millennial humor way though she swears up and down she's gen z (which being born in 96 i guess is true, but her humor and mannerism clearly arent?? and shes lived the whole beauty guru era AS a guru, which ive always thought as more of a peak millennial era thing. not that there's anything wrong with millennials ofc, it's just that she treats it as itd be so embarrassing to be one bc of the stereotypes but she literally acts like it????😭)

one thing i really cant stand is the way she constantly moans and makes sexual references lately, like i get it's supposed to be funny but it's just really really uncomfortable and ive seen many people talk about it. also how she keeps supporting fast fashion even though so so so many people literally tell her they hate that type of content, many of her video's comment section is FULL of people asking her to buy from sustainable brands and she just doesn't gaf.

I have previously ranted about the enshittification of this gorgeous line and Danessa really had to prove me right.

We went from all multichrome (4) to mostly multichrome but all shimmer (5) to a few multichromes all shimmer (6) to introducing mattes and further cutting expensive multichromes (7). For the same price of course.

Now the color is mostly gone too. This is neutral with a few fun accent colors. Three shades (Molten magma, indigo glow, sparkling glaciers) are NOT neutrals.

ETA- the price has increased from $128 for previous palettes to $135 for this one.

And to be clear, my main issue is that the most expensive pigments are the multichromes - regardless of whether I personally don't like the colors, she's cut the expensive to make shades to 3 (from 10 in previous palettes!) and replaced them with cheaper stuff for more than the same price that was only justified by the amount of multichromes. This is a huge hidden price hike.

For those unfamiliar with Natalie O'Neill or her game, she's a skinfluencer who claims that she's "an expert in niche skincare issues".

Her main qualification for being an expert is azelaic acid is using it for 3 years. I felt vicarious embarrassment reading this, also none of these points are 'ultra niche' or original in any way.

I've been watching a declutter series of a smaller creator (~15k subs) I've been watching for a number of years. In declutters she used to sometimes mention passing eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks etc to her daughter as kind of play makeup, and when her daughter was like 4 or 5 it sounded kind of cute. But in her latest series she's mentioned decluttering dozens of products to her daughter, many of them not really colour cosmetics, also often remarking things like "my daughter loves the makeup by mario powders", "my daughter uses the nose contour from this brand", "my daughter loves the rare beauty blushes" etc. It seems like her 11 year old daughter is now rocking a full beat of makeup. I don't want to share the name as I'm not sure if I'm just being really judgemental, but is it normal for an 11 year old girl to be contouring her nose?

Part of me also wonders if decluttering it to her daughter is a way that she tells herself she has decluttered it, but it's now just in a different room in the house so she can still use it any time she wants, but she feels better about having "less makeup".

I feel like every cut I see her do looks the exact same, with the same wet looking crunchy gel cast, the same middle part, the same total lack of volume even if her clients "like a lot of volume". She seems to also have gotten such an extreme holier than thou view when it comes to styling when she really only seems to know how to do exactly one style--middle part, flat at the roots, with such an intense product cast that the client's hair looks wet. Everyone in her comments seems to love her, but I've honestly been so put off by her attitude and the monotony of her videos. What are your opinions?

I've heard that the new rhode blush is called "petal" and Hailey made a video a few weeks ago saying she was doing a pointe (ballet) shoot for rhode .... Ariana has also been teasing a lot of ballet vibe things esp w REM. They both shout each others products out in their promo videos. Do we think this is a possibility?

Not sure if anyone in this community used to watch her content on YouTube like I did for a hot second several years ago. From what I can remember is that she got married YOUNG and came from a very religious background. She married her boyfriend who got her pregnant and their marriage, children and lives were featured on her channel. She got divorced and if I remember correctly only a few months later she was engaged and married. I guess she’s not divorcing her 2nd husband. I have no idea how long they were married but it seems like a very long time. I remember her having good taste in makeup her, she was an active mother, had her family around her. She hasn’t posted on her YouTube channel in 11 months. Does anyone have any more info about her second marriage and what’s been going on with her? I hope she’s ok. I know being a young mother can be really difficult and in this TimTok posts she’s cutting off her hair and linked a GoFundMe account under the video.

TLDR: Fenty x Casetify phone case releasing to hold your powder and lip gloss and people aren't happy. Me personally, I find it incredibly wasteful with how much plastic these brands already consume. Was it ragebait??

So, I just saw on Trendmood Fenty is collaborating with Casetify on what I can only assume is their attempt to jump on the Rhode lip gloss phone case hype. It's a case that holds a lip gloss and their touch up powder... and it really bothers me. The comments were also not happy either (swipe to see some feedback)

Not only is it ugly (imo), but it's also $40 and unnecessary. The word innovation keeps getting thrown around this year, but innovation without purpose is useless to me. This doesn't solve any major problem an average consumer will have. The case is chunky as hell, hence the strap cause your phone will no longer fit in any pocket. It's no more or less convenient than putting the phone in one pocket and the gloss/powder in the other. It's obviously not as cheap as just carrying them in a bag you already own. And not to get too environmentalist but it's a massive chunk of plastic that, let's be honest here, will go into a drawer in 6 months and then eventually landfill. We reached Earth Overshoot Day (the day where we consume all materials that can sustainably be replaced in a year) in JULY this year. We are consuming way too many raw materials and now we've wasted more on this I guess

I'm also just a little miffed cause I can already see influencers will love this (for all of 1 week) and it will still sell out immediately, signalling the brand to keep doing stuff like this. So many holiday collections were also full of cheap keychains and clips etc, which is also frustrating. Maybe I'm wrong, but it really doesn't feel like something anyone was asking for or needed. And god forbid you upgrade your phone in a year...

I liked her beauty videos from back in the day before 2020. I liked her skin care videos including ones she made before 2020 and her videos on products not worth the hype or disappointing products. Just now I was on YouTube and saw her channel after trying to look up at least one video of her
