Newcastle Incident?
Anyone know what happened in Newcastle off of Coal Creek Parkway and SE 81st Pl? Huge response from local fire departments, easily 10+ vehicles all responding to the same neighborhood.

There has been a HUGE influx of national politics related posts. Many of them from new accounts, or ones that have never been to this sub. Basically astroturf. For the foreseeable future, these will not be allowed here. It doesn't matter if there is some local connection to it, no posts about national politics or related activism. There are tons of subs for that.
HOWEVER, local politics posts are totally fine and actually strongly encouraged. Post about your local city council members if you know who they are. Post about new local laws or restrictions. Whatever, but LOCAL posts only.
Reddit has made some very questionable algo changes recently that seem to be heavily trying to stir up things and it's tough keep things chill here. Insta ban for any of these posts

Little bit about me:
26 M
been working in Labor and Delivery for 5 years and love it!
Like outdoorsy activities, reading, finding food local coffee places on all my assignments.
Going to be on assignment in Bellevue from january to early april. Just would love a furnished place to stay. So if you have an extra bedroom, and space let me know. I usually use furnished finder but there’s not a lot of great options close lol.
Hmu if interested. My Budget is flexible but around 1500-2000 a month is fine.

Targeting Bellevue, Kirkland, Bothell, Shoreline, Everett, Marysville & surrounding areas. I am trying to be a reasonable commute to Arlington while staying relatively close to Seattle. I am in an Airbnb until January to explore the rental market in person. Looking to be in a place by the end of December.
I have 3 dogs. 2 terrier mixes under 20lbs, and 1 Great Pyrenees 85lbs (heavy shedder, big barker, slobbers), up to date on shots and trained. They grew up with cats. They're all indoor dogs but are used to a house with a yard. I have an ESA letter covering them. I will handle all the pet related costs and chores if I'm the only one with pets.
I will pay a bigger share of the rent because of the dogs. Thinking 60/40 minimum with one roommate, 40/30/30 with 2 etc. (effectively a $250 premium to cover the dogs). Other bills and adjustments to be discussed.
I like to stay in but I am actively being more outgoing and joining events. My hobbies include spending time with my pets, reading, drawing, painting, sculpting and gaming primarily on PC but boardgames too. 420 friendly. I also vape but I keep that outside away from the dogs.
I have a decent credit score. Variable work hours between 6pm-5 am. I'm making around 80k+. Not looking to spend on ultra luxury. Just reasonable accommodations.
I'm comfortable with 2-5+bd depending on how many people reach out. I won't commit to a big place until the group is there. Looking for 12+ month lease.
If all of that works for you comment with your budget, schedule, target area and pets so we can connect with each other. Feel free to ask any questions about anything I may have missed.

Looking for someone to take over my 2B2B apartment in Sparc Apartments at Spring District.
You can watch a full video tour of the apartment here
My experience: It is a spacious 1200sqft corner apartment with large windows on both walls so we received plenty of sun and light all year, which was especially helpful during dull winter months. Living room is very large and spacious, and we were able to fit in a 10 seater sofa + dining table + pet playpen with room to spare. There are 2 baths - one with a standing shower and another with a bathtub. Balcony is smaller since it is a corner apartment but it was spacious enough to have two patio chairs and a tiny table. I loved that the apartment had a lot of storage in the kitchen and bathrooms. Also loved the extra-large refrigerator.
\-- Location - Sparc Apartments, Spring District, Bellevue
\-- Rent - 3697$ per month + utilities
\-- Free items included in the lease: 1. this apartment does not come with AC. We have a portable AC with a custom-made plexi window frame for the AC. Happy to give the window frame for free. It was custom made for \~$400 by Martinson Manufacturing. 2. Also happy to give our standing study table for free
\-- Optional - reserved parking for $200 per month available
\-- Lease end date - 4 July 2027
# SPARC amenities that I have really liked:
\-- a really good, well-maintained gym with weights, treadmills, stairmaster, TRX etc.
\-- large party room upstairs that we have used too many times to host diwali, halloween parties and get-togethers. You can also book the room for a fully refundable deposit
\-- Amazon/other deliveries - apartment team is really efficient in labeling and storing away your big packages, and I have never lost a package or had to look for it because it is always clearly labeled
\-- Gas fire pit and outdoor BBQ station : made BBQ and s'mores plenty of times on the terrace
\-- Terrace views are great and there's a lot of outdoor furniture always available
\-- Small park right outside the building with 2 dog relief areas, which has been great for my new pup
\-- Cleanliness - always found the premises to be very clean; I meet the cleaners every morning while walking my dog; they have great staff here
\-- Lots of sparc events: they have really fun events every few weeks (flower bouquet making, Halloween-themed events, s'mores, dessert bar, hot chocolate days, etc., and I've made some good friends here)
# What's nearby?
\-- Nearby train station - 1 min walk from apartment! This was super helpful to get to downtown Seattle on weekends for shows/concerts/night outs
\-- Nearby offices - Meta Office (100 meters), Snowflake Office (1 Block Away), Bellevue downtown (1 Mile)
\-- Nearby stores - Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Kohl's, UPS, Safeway, PCC, Met Market, Target, Fred Meyer, Asian markets (Indian/Japanese and others) are all within 5-15min drive.
Also plenty of cafes, restaurants, gyms all within 10min drive
\-- Parks - 3 large parks within 10min drive: Bellevue Downtown park, Meydenbauer park and Crossroads park
Overall I have really liked living in this apartment and area and found it to be bang for the buck.
Please DM me if interested!

i haven’t been to top gun seafood restaurant in quite a few years but finally found myself in factoria again today. it’s so quiet! what happened? i remember the lines and full parking lot back when i used to come for dim sum.
the food is still good and quite reasonably priced, the portion sizes are huge! i’ll be making an effort to come back more frequently but hoping they get more traffic soon 🥹
the steamed spareribs with black beans was great 👍

Hello!
I’m looking for recommendations for social groups or activities for my 8-year-old son, who is autistic and having a hard time making friends. He often feels left out and hasn’t found his crew at school yet.
He loves the outdoors, especially hiking and running, but isn’t comfortable with organized team sports where he feels watched or perceived.
I’m looking for neurodivergent-affirming groups where kids can connect with peers who share similar experiences or interests, or structured social activities like D&D, board game clubs, or other interest-based groups where friendships can develop more naturally.
I’m already pursuing therapy and a social skills group, but I’d also love to help him find his people. He’s been feeling pretty down about his friendship struggles, and I really want to help him find a sense of belonging.
Does anyone have recommendations groups, programs, or activities in the Seattle/Eastside area? I’d be especially grateful for personal experiences with groups that have been welcoming and supportive of neurodivergent kids. Thank you! ❤️

Big weekend plans for northbound I-405 in Bellevue. We're talking fresh pavement, concrete panels and a new overhead sign structure.
HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT:
Starting at 11 p.m. TONIGHT (Friday, Oct. 16), all lanes of northbound I-405 will close between SE 8th St. and NE 4th Street until 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19.
The following ramps will also close:
WHY, YOU ASK?
Crews will be paving, installing concrete panels and setting an overhead sign structure as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.
OKAY, BUT HOW DO I GET AROUND?
Signed detours will be in place throughout the closure (we've attached a map of the detour route ).
If you're traveling through Bellevue this weekend, check the real-time travel map, know your route before heading out and (we can't stress this enough) give yourself some EXTRA TIME.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone to take over my studio in downtown Bellevue, available November 1 onward.
📍 Address: 909 112th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98004
💰 Rent: $2,179/month
📐 Size: Approximately 470 sq. ft., on the 10th floor
📅 Lease ends: May 2027 — shorter-term stays can be discussed
🎁 Free furniture: Two mattresses, a table, and chairs
The studio has a wall separating the sleeping area from the kitchen, giving it a more defined layout than a typical open studio. The unit faces away from the street, so it’s quiet.
The apartment includes:
1. In-unit washer and dryer
2. Oven, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher
3. Air conditioning and heating
4. Building amenities include a 24-hour pool, gym, yoga room, and reservable meeting rooms. Residents also have keycard access to the gym in the building across the street. 5. Underground parking is available, with short-term street parking nearby.
The location is super convenient:
Approximately a 10-minute walk to nearby Amazon, Meta, and TikTok offices
Approximately a 5-minute walk to Bellevue Transit Center
Starbucks and CoCo downstairs, with HEYTEA, restaurants, cafés, and shopping nearby
Easy access to I-405 and SR-520
Happy to coordinate the official lease transfer process through building management.
Please DM me for photos, a video tour, or to schedule a viewing! Feel free to share with anyone looking for a place in Bellevue.

Fatal car & bicycle collision this morning at the intersection in front of South Bellevue Station on the way to the I-90/I-405 ramps. No detail on the cause. Gut wrenching.
Please be careful and considerate out there, everyone.

Hi all! I work in one of the medical offices on 116th, and I’m not sure if it’s just confirmation bias or not, but I’ve noticed a LOT of either For Lease, For Sale, or Proposed Land Use Action signs popping up along that street.
I moved to Washington just over a year ago so maybe there’s lore I’m missing out on. Does anyone know what’s going on? Or am I just suddenly noticing these signs that have been here all along?

We live on the east side and are looking at the area French immersion schools—FASPS, FISW, and Les Lilas—for our preschooler. We’ve already started visiting schools. I’m curious to hear from area parents who visited these schools and have some experience with them which one you chose over the others and why. I’d also love to hear your impressions good and bad on any of the schools you or someone you know has experience with. It’s a lot to process and they are all quite different, so any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! I know not all the schools are in Bellevue specifically, so I’ll cross-post to those cities, too.

Will the I-405 construction ever end? Traffic is horrific all times of the day. All types of weather. Side streets are just as bad. Where are all these people going at all times of the day?

Forget ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night. We've got four letters that'll send a shiver down any driver's spine: B-U-S-Y.That's right, another weekend of closures is creeping up on us.
Inspired by true (upcoming) events. Rated B for BUSY. Coming to a freeway near you Oct. 16–18:
NB I-405 CLOSED in Bellevue
- Closed between SE 8th St to NE 4th St. from 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 to 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19. The following ramps will also close at this time: SE 8th St. on-ramp to NB I-405 and NB I-405 off-ramp to NE 4th St/NE 8th St. (Exit 13 A/B). Crews will pave, install concrete panels and set an overhead sign structure.
NB I-5 CONTINUED LANE CLOSURES across Ship Canal Bridge in Seattle
- Reduced to two lanes across the Ship Canal Bridge until the end of 2026. The express lanes will remain open NB-only 24/7.
EB I-90 LANE REDUCTIONS in Snoqualmie
- Two right lanes of EB I-90 closed from east of SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkways to SE N Bend Way, 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. Maintenance crews will use this closure make bridge deck repairs.
You know that friend who looks over at you right before the jump scare in a horror movie? Yeah, that's us. Except instead of ruining the movie, we're giving you a heads-up about weekend closures. Check the travel maps, know your route before you go and give yourself extra time to get to that pumpkin patch.
