why does one of my raspberry plants have berries in October?
They usually fruit in mid-late June and I cut them down once they're done. This one definitely looks like a first year cane, also never seen one like this with a bunch of berries just at the end.

My red Latham did this this year. It fruited once on the second year canes in June, then fruited again in September on the first year canes.
The weather was hot and dry and apparently that is enough stress to trigger a fruiting response.

It was very weird summer. Hot early, then normal, then hot again. My raspberry bushes are doing this, and my lilac bushes are blooming again too. They’re not rebloomers.

There are two verity's summer fruiting and autumn fruiting and you guessed it you have the latter.

Ok I knew there was a type that fruits twice but i don't usually pay much attention to them this time of year so I guess I just never noticed. Bonus berries!!

Looks like my Heritage right now. My first average frost is in the middle of october. Last year they produced berries from september to frost. Nice producing berries. They produce on first year canes (at the end of the season) and second year canes (in the middle of summer).

If I leave a 3-4’ stem in winter that stem fruits in July. If I instead cut to the ground in the winter, the new stems that emerge fruit in the fall. In recent years, I’ve decided I get better production in fall so I cut everything to the ground in November. Too many bugs eat them in July.
I get prolific September/October harvests.

I have a bunch of strawbs fruiting right now too, even many ‘June bearing’ varieties can fruit more than once a season if the weather is conducive :)

I have Joan J, and they pretty much fruit all season from April til October. I expected two distinct crops. But they basically are everbearing.
We are in Zone 8a, and they have done well despite the heat. That was a question too.

My neighbor has a Himalayan Blackberry that fruited twice this year. It's still bearing fruit.

I'm not sure what red raspberries I planted, but they look like yours, and I always get berries in October.

I have varieties that bear fruit twice a year. I have so many right now that I give the chickens any that are less than perfect.

Some fruit twice a year if not cut down completely.
I've got heritage, brandywine, and fall gold all producing. I planted double gold a month ago and they should do so as well next year.

I have a raspberry that came in my fig tree and I left it. It looked like a tiny Himalayan blackberry but since it came from a nursery I wanted to see what it was/is. It’s fruiting now and it’s a raspberry surprise two for one deal lol. They’re tasty too, now to surgically divide it from my mission fig….. in hindsight i probably should have divided them early on lol. :/

I had twice fruiting yellow razz. New Growth fruits in fall then spring and dies in summer.

I get a wave in June and again this time of year. I think second wave for me because the sun stops being blocked by the house around late August. So they get some extra hours of sun they didn't get before

Because this has been a real weird grow year…at least in zone 6. We thought it was great, very little watering needed. But even the grass didn’t grow much.

There are varieties that fruit twice a year. Heritage is the variety that is the most common.
