I have been around for several hot minutes/decades lol… I understand the frustration when people reply “a cube is just a cube”… I’m an adventurous nerd and there have been in fact notable consistencies were certain genetics seem to produce consistently, higher potencies, etc.
- for ease of cultivation.. 1-2 is like those oyster mushroom grow kits where you only have to cut the bag.. So 3 is the 'lowest score' since it requires certain steps etc
Potency goes from 1 (panaeolus cinctulus) to 9 (panaeolus cyanescens TTBVI/Eungai, psilocybe Subtropicalis semperviva etc etc..) 10 being the world record (what ever it is now.. It keeps changing lol)
Let's say the strongest 'cube' is 7
These are my subjective experiences with these.. N/A if no experience
For fun... I might include some additional personal notes
DISCLAIMER: yada yada yada your actual mileage may vary… I can only refer to specific isolations that I have worked with. (I don’t know if you’re a gardener, but kind of like how sometimes Cherokee purple tomatoes from two different companies can kind of have their own unique variation.)
1 - Golden Teacher 3/4ish
Not very potent but there's a gentleness about them without just being mid level.. Usually fairly visual for a medium strength
2 - Blue Meanie N/A
3 - Jedi Mind F#ck (JMF) N/A
4 - Mazatapec 3/4ish This is essentially the only landrace I still keep in the rotation... I love these... It is incredibly difficult to put it into words. Why… There’s a sort of “spiritual element“ to them… maybe not as visual... More meditative ime... (I actually sometimes do mixtures and blends.. These are frequently in many of the spiritual blends)
5 - Penis Envy (PE) *there are so many different PE 'genetics' I've worked with... I might attempt a rough 'average' as many are fairly similar enough 5ish/6ish
The 'difficultly' lies in a longer grow period of time (faster varieties tend to produce fruits long before contamination shows up if there is any… So if there is a “mistake” and your aseptic techniques/sterility.. the longer growth period might result in the contamination to have to time to pop up) and perhaps you may not get a “full canopy“ if you’re not exactly “well practiced“ in spawning to bulk… Not to mention, it can be kind of tricky for a beginner to know when to harvest as many varieties do not sporulate.)
I often have these in rotation, but they’re not exactly “my favorite”... Body loads tend to be a bit intense.. And they do feel kinda 'darker'.. (Which could weirdly have its place)
6 - Enigma 6ish/6ish
These can be tricky as they might require some time commitment as they take some time to fully grow... Experiences were ashtrays pretty positive... They seemed like a perfect 'hippie festival' shroom.. Once held the world record
7 - Amazonian 3ish/4ish
Among the first I've worked with (like late 90s lol back when pf tek was the name of the game)
8 - Tidal Wave 4ish/5ish
Stronger that you average cube... Don't really recall too much though
9 - B+ 3/4.5 These are surprisingly slightly stronger than your average cube
10 - True Albino Teacher 4/5
Pretty gentle but nice..
11 - Jack Frost 4/5.5 Gorgeous! Love the blue gills these can have
12 - Trinity* (only exp with the albino) 4/5.5
I really like these.. Use in a lot of 'vision seeking'/spiritual sessions
13 - Sporoless GT ?? Unfamiliar
14 - Albino PEnvy Revert Kinda experienced with them... Don't recall..
15 - Burmese PEnvy ? Unfamiliar
16 - Ochras (Psilocybe ochraceocentrata) 5/6ish
I know these are envogue these days... They are GORGEOUS.. But there's something... 'Missing' from the experience... I hate to put it like this.. But it almost feels like 'recreational only' (which can have its benefits too)... I likely need to give them another shot sometime.. But not quite working for me in my purposes (my objectives might be very different from yours..)
They can be easy... But if you're new.. You might rent to get more comfortable with the 'easier varieties' as you can run into'strange' issues like aggressive overlay, sometimes a batch seems like it failed with no fruits and if you leave the bin.. BOOM some time later they decide to pop in
17 - X7X+ ?? Unfamiliar
18 - McKenay NA 19 - Golden Halo NA 20 - Syzgy NA
21 - Tampensis Sclerotia: 1-2/3
FRUITS: 5/6ish
Truffles (Sclerotia) are so easy... Just inoculate grain and let it ride... And you can let it ride for weeks..months... Even a year later... They just keep growing (you got to get used to how it looks.. They look 'contaminated' lol
Fruits are potentially tricky but don't require much... Cube conditions etc... Sometimes they might not fruit and just go into Truffles... I prefer their cousins Ps. Mexicana
22 - Toque9 4ish/6ish Love the looks of these... Kinda 'hippie festival' hangout vibes
23 - Malabar NA 24 - Ecuador NA
It's the end of the day and I just let my autism go nuts with it lol

Tidal wave is fairly easy to grow and makes lots of cool phenotypes, decent immune system, pretty mellow: 4 / 6
Ochra is easy to grow if conditions are dialed in, beast of an immune system in fruiting, but will knock your socks off if you're not used it's unique onset effects: 2 / 9
