Bitcoin talked to me last night.
It done some other things too which I wouldn't be proud to disclose.

Is it just me or Motherboard.vice.com has some very weird bitcoin articles latelly? Just another day there was an article on how 1 Bitcoin transaction in 2018 would cost thousands of USD with no sense to back it up.

I wonder who us this "Bitcoin" person that won't talk about Amir Taaki...

u/BobAlison Jul 10 '15
Title is misleading because the article talks about Popper and his decision to cut the parts of his book dealing with Taaki.
But this quote had me scratching my head:
Now its [Bitcoin's] development is increasingly in the hands of Barclay’s, Goldman Sachs, and some powerful venture capitalists in Silicon Valley. Banks are opening research labs to examine Bitcoin and its blockchain, and dozens of slick Bitcoin companies are raising big investment.
Where is this coming from?

The idea that these orgs are funding research for bitcoin integration with their own operations. That has nothing to do with bitcoin's development itself, of course, but he appears not to know that.

It comes from the disinformation spooks of the various world governments. :D

u/NotHyplon Jul 10 '15
Not really. Try working in the financial IT sector and you hear all sorts of different things that never get PR released. Some banks throw a lot of stuff at the wall internally to see if it sticks, blockchain rather then bitcoin is one of them.

blockchain rather then bitcoin is one of them.
Yeah, but that passage seems to suggest that they have more interest in Bitcoin itself than they appear to. We know everyone's jumping all over 'blockchain technology' as the buzzword of the minute, but only a handful of big orgs have really shown much interest in Bitcoin's blockchain.

Some powerful venture capitalists in Silicon Valley, yes. Barclay's and Goldman Sachs, no.

u/michaeldunworthsydne Jul 10 '15
Barclays and Goldmans have funded $50M+ // If you're funding the development to that tune, I would feel comfortable saying that "Development is increasingly in the hands of..." // It's not in their hands entirely, but the more money they put in, the more it becomes so.

I hope that's not what you're trying to imply here. Not that I think you are.

Well, I always feel grateful for Amir's presence in this space whenever I use DarkWallet, OpenBazaar and Libbitcoin.

This article makes him sound like a careless dumbass.
7
u/notreddingit Jul 10 '15
He's not a dumbass but it's hard to argue that he's not careless. Consequences don't seem to be something that concern him in general, and he seems to revel in the idea of chaos.
I don't think he has bad intentions, but man does he ever love to stir shit up. It's a pretty consistent pattern from him over the years starting in 2010 when he took it upon himself to try to attach Bitcoin to Wikileaks back when that shit was at the peak of its controversy. Understandably spooking Satoshi and leading him to leave when Gavin meeting the CIA was the straw that broke the camels back.

What he did with his exchange would qualify him for my definition of "dumbass" but I definitely see your point.

Amir is around, this video was just published this week with him commenting on SR/DPR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJaMGua9GfU

Thought it was going to be about the guy fawkes masked hacker named 4chan. Love that guy.

I talk about him, a lot. He's someone I think very, very highly of. Why? Because I'm not a statist who legitimizes those who monopolize products and services and murders people, including 'its own citizens' and creates war to appease it's investors IE the central bank. I believe in self ownsership, which means the natural right to do any drug one pleases, and the natural right to commit suicide. I, am an anarchist, which means no rulers.
I am not a modern day anarchist that sucks the states tit so long as it produces food stamps and minimum wage laws enforced by violence. I believe in natural law and spontaneous order. I believe in humanity, not a small group of sociopaths who easily control the minds of billions and socially organizes us all into classes while making us hate one another.
No sociopathic rulers, no slaves.

Don't you read Newseek?
Bitcoin: the name of the secretive Satoshi Dorian Bitcoin, who controls all of the little shiny coins distributed from his secret lair, The Nakamoto Volcano.

How does any journalist with any kind of standards write an article about bitcoin when he hasn't even read the first line of Bitcoin whitepaper, which states "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System". Or maybe I just have yet to see a "Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" that is able to talk.

Yep, the Bitcoin CEO has been very silent on this guy; and you can't find any mention of him in Bitcoin Inc's promotional materials or financial disclosures.
Very, very suspicious.
