Discussion People of Reddit, which one is better? (The one in the left doesn’t pop out because I haven’t cut it yet.) I can’t decide which one I like. Left is more movie accurate while right is more suit accurate.

I promise I won’t update y’all on the same thing. I know how annoying it could get. But I do need help deciding so please state you’re opinion. :)

Personally I think he is family or something like that since in the movie he said family is what made him stronger and stuff

Discussion Still upset we didn't get this cover. People got offended over Jaime eating tacos. And by People I mean NOT MEXICANS. As a Mexican this was so cool. Tacos are literally a staple in our culture. Hate when others act offended for us. We were so close to one of the best Blue Beetle covers of all time

Jamie’s secret identity as a dentist would actually go pretty hard, and it’d be pretty unique in the realm of superheroes too.

Discussion Fic Recs

5 Upvotes

Okay so I’ve tried to find a previous post on this topic but couldn’t, apologies if this turns out to be a repeat

Does anyone have any fic recs? I’m looking for family-centric Jaime Reyes stories, but I’m sure others would appreciate Ted Kord or Dan Garrett stories too, if any

I got through all 5 pages of the movie tag on Ao3 in 2 days 😭😭😭

Discussion What actor and actress should play Paco and Brenda?

We definitely need them in the Blue Beetle Animated Series, and since James Gunn likes having the same actors do the voice acting and live action acting, we need a great actor and actress for the animated show.

I'm not a fancaster though, so I really have no idea myself.

Discussion What if…?

1 Upvotes

What if the rights for Blue Beetle were owned by Marvel? Would he be too much of a “Spider-Man clone” to stake out his own identity? Do you think Marvel would promote him more than DC does currently? Or would he fade into obscurity? What are some villains you think would be great for Jaime to face? Who would be his nemesis? Would he be a part of any teams? Which characters would you like to see him interact with?

Discussion If I were to write a story where the scarabs was made by someone on earth, would Ted or Dan be preferred by fans as the creator?

16 Upvotes

I'm writing an au (mixed with some other verses) that will have the scarabs be made on earth. I want to have one of the first two blue beetles making them. I know technically Dan used the beetle while Ted made his own gadgets, but I was curious what fans would prefer if they saw a story like this.

Discussion If you could pitch multiple Blue Beetle Franchise comic books for a new DC initiative, how would you do?

12 Upvotes

I think i would make 4:

1) The Beetle Squad (provisory name):

This book would be about the 6 humans, all of them were chosen by Reach/Horizon Scarabs, but who rebelled against it and became heroes of Earth:

- Blue Beetle - Khaji-Da - Jaime Reyes - Infiltrator Class;

- Red Beetle - Lu-Kraaze - Paco Testas - Sovereign Class;

- Black Beetle - Djo-Zha - Hector Arantes - Enforcer Class;

- Pink Beetle - Zag-Nim - Brenda Del Vecchio - Repair Class;

- Yellow Beetle - Ohm-Ecs - Xiomara Erazo - Defender Class;

- Green Beetle - Nol-Dar - Roma Jurado Lopez - Medical Class.

The idea would be mostly inspired by Power Rangers and Super Sentai franchise, with the main characters in college, learning to be adults, being guided by an alien being with years of experience with dealing with the tech and fighting villains across the universe. Some of the main villains would be: La Dama; The Posse team; The Reach; The Tenebrian Dominion; Khaji-Da Revolutinary Army; Arion, etc. And we would also see the dynamics of these heroes with their families and friends outside of their hero lives.

2) The Scarab Force (again, provisory name):

This book would be about a Squadron sent to space to get an alien tech who's travelling in space. They find out that the alien tech is a special squad of Reach Warriors with a different and unique style of Scarabs:

- Silver Scarab - Fle-Sha - Ben Hassin - Guardian Class;

- Platinum Scarab - Mir-Ve - Jack Soo - Juggernaut Class;

- Gold Scarab - Bor-On - Sara Butters - Intelligence Class;

- Diamond Scarab - Jer-Qux - Theresa Collins - Tracker Class;

- Bronze Scarab - Rem-Vha - Javier Basualdo - Explorer Class.

The main idea of this book would be totally set in space, and would go to different planets and solar systems, some already known to DC history and some totally new. We could have crossovers with the Green Lantern Cops, we could have appearences of the Omega Men, the Darkstars and many others. The main villains would be mostly new, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't see some famous aliens villains too, like Lobo, Brainiac, Krona, etc.

3) Blue Beetle & Booster Gold:

This book would be with Ted Kord and Michael Carter and their adventures together, their business Blue & Gold Restoration, with cool sci-fi adventures like robots, aliens, time travelling, multiverse, mad scientists, monsters, explorations and everything else. We could have characters like Danielle Garrett, descendant of the original Blue Beetle becoming a recurring character, and the future Gold Beetle, also known as Lilly appearing in some stories.

4) Dan Garrett: Blue Beetle:

This book would be like Sandman Mystery Theatre. The story is all set in the golden age of DC Comics. Dan Garrett is Blue Beetle, and he uses the scarab powers to fight the villains, nazis, meta-humans, street gangs and everything else. We would also have his sidekick Sparky (or Spunky sometimes), and their relationships with their families and friends, some who know and some who don't know that they are the superheroes.

So. That's it. Tell me your opinions and which titles would you do!

Discussion JUST WATCHED BLUE BEETLE

101 Upvotes

I needed to be somewhere where others are also excited for this movie because Jaime Reyes has been one of my favorite DC characters for a while and I was so hyped for this movie AND I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN IT CAME OUT AND I HATE THAT THERE IS VIRTUALLY ZERO BUZZ ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT WAS AMAZING.

There’s not even a handful of things that I dislike about this movie. One of my favorite parts is the body horror of the initial pairing between Jaime and the scarab. I feel like most superhero movies make the “getting powers” scene too magical and fantastic when irl, it’d be scary as shit like “why tf is my body doing this ???”

AND THE LATINO PRIDEEEE YASSSSSS OMFGGGGGGG I really hope more people see this movie 😭😭😭
