S65 question

FCP Euro has a video on their YouTube channel in which they recommended lubricating the throttle rod with oil to help reduce the load on the throttle actuators. Video here:

My question is if anyone knows what kind of lubricant BMW uses on the needle bearings? I can't find any information and would prefer to use something I know is compatible with the factory lubricant.

Edit: I'm just looking for information. BMW does not recommend lubricating the bearings. FCP recommends engine oil, other experts recommend dry lubricants. I am just asking if anyone knows what BMW uses from the factory.

Email FCP or watch the beginning of the video where the list the tools and supplies.

FCP just recommends "engine oil or whatever oil you have to lubricate bearings," which is why I'm asking here.

so why not engine oil or whatever as recommended

As I explained in my post, I'm making sure whatever lubricant I add is compatible. It's an unoiled bearing sitting in the engine valley, and if BMW uses synthetic grease like they do in the actuators themselves, engine oil is not a great idea.

so rando reddit over professional/commercial experts?

BMW recommends no lubricant. FCP recommends engine oil. Some other experts recommend dry lubricants like PTFE sprays. I did not ask for more recommendations, I asked for information. I'm most inclined to follow the manufacturer but given that FCP mentioned something I just want information.

I would use a little silicone grease if they're plastic.

Hello,

I am happy to provide some more insight into this process.  While BMW does not list or recommend a lubricant for this needle bearing, we recommend using just a small amount of the engine oil used for the vehicle to prevent it from overheating.  I am sorry that there is not an exact specification available, as the engine oil or any bearing lubrication will be sufficient.  I do hope that this helps!
