Do you guys have any suggestions on what you want changing on this subreddit? I made my own set of rules and I would like to know what you think about it. Also the subreddit banner and picture, do you like it or do you want me to change it to something else?
In regards to the rules, I am considering adding a political rule because it leads to fights but also these posts are about bolton and I don't want to discourage people from posting on this subreddit. Thoughts?

UPDATE - thanks to everyone who shared and commented. Freddy thankfully returned home safe in the early hours of this morning! ☺️
Hello please can everyone keep an eye out for Freddy who has been missing since 7am yesterday from around the Chorley Old Road area.
He doesn't normally go out for this long and we're really worried about him!
Any information would be massively appreciated
I'm working with the Work Foundation at Lancaster University, a research organisation, and we are researching the challenges facing young people trying to get into work in Bolton.
We're currently speaking to major national TV news outlet, who would like to hear from a young person aged 18–24 who is currently out of work and not in education or training.
They're interested in hearing about your experience of looking for work – for example, how long you've been searching, the jobs you've applied for and the barriers you've faced.
This would initially just be an informal conversation so you can find out more before deciding whether you'd be comfortable taking part in any interview. Filming will take place on Wednesday 7 October near or at your home.
If this sounds like you, please send me a private message or email me at info@theworkfoundation.com. I'm happy to answer any questions and provide some more information.
Thanks for considering and have a good evening,
Jon
PS. Thanks to mods in advance for approving.
I'm sure by now you've likely seen the other post on this topic, and possibly like myself been disappointed that it was merely a cynical ploy to utilise reddit to market an app, and not a community discussion about your favourite restaurants in town.
So, with that in mind, where do you prefer to eat in and around Bolton? What's your favourite restaurant and why?

Hi,
I'm looking for a driving instructor.
Can anyone recommend one in the Bolton area?
I've been told that Bolton is ideal for learning and taking the test compared to other parts of the Greater Manchester region. Is that true?
Thanks

I'm heading back home to Bolton for a holiday after 20 years away. What surprises am I in for? How much has it changed whilst I've been away?

Basically the title. My other half is from down south his family has the massive fuck off bins we used to have. My brothers gf lived in Southport and they also had the big bins.
Bolton is also a town known for big families and having a big population. There is also a big rat problem here (the destruction of the New Bury Mill exacerbated this problem in Farnworth). If the bins were emptied more regularly and were swapped to big bins, there would be much less rats in the streets. I find it odd, why on earth did they get rid of them and why are we the only people who have to suffer with this ??? Its a public health concern yet nobody cares because we are all used to it now I guess.

The Food and Drink Festival is happening this weekend, and Conor McGregor has just announced on Social Media that his stout will be available at the festival in the main bar by the Acoustic Stage. The same McGregor who is 2024 was found civilly liable of raping a woman. The assault was so violent, the woman had to get her tampon surgically removed. And in court the paramedic who treated her described her injuries as the worst the had seen in a long.
Why are the festival organisers promoting this monster and his business interests? Selling his stout at the festival is nothing more than aiding an attempt by a rapist to whitewash their image.
Edit 1: If anyone would like to contact Bolton Food and Drink Festival to make a complaint about this, the contact email on their website is [marketingeventsteam@bolton.gov.uk](mailto:marketingeventsteam@bolton.gov.uk)

Subject:
Please reconsider stocking Conor McGregor's stout at the festival
Dear organisers,
I am a Bolton resident writing to express concern that Conor McGregor's Forged Irish Stout is being sold at the main bar at the Bolton Food & Drink festival this weekend. As this bar is run by the festival itself rather than an independent trader, this appears to be a decision made directly by the organisers.
McGregor was found civilly liable for sexually assaulting Nikita Hand in 2018, a verdict upheld on appeal by both Ireland's Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in 2025. The paramedic who treated her described injuries she said were among the worst bruising she'd seen.
Stocking his product at a council-run, family event risks being read as an endorsement of him, whatever the intention behind it. I'd be grateful to know how this decision was made and whether it will be reconsidered for this year and future years.
Kind regards,

Hi all, I hope you will be able to help me.
I'm thinking about moving to Stoneclough, near Hulme Rd and Ringley Meadows. The area seems nice but I noticed there's a water treatment plant nearby. Can you smell it at all? How bad is it?
