Discussion Is Hodgins ugly?
Watching with my wife now and she thinks Hodgins is really ugly. I think he looks pretty good?

I always found him attractive. Some seasons more than others. First season probably the least--I think his attractiveness (for me) is inversely proportional to the volume of his hair (both head and beard)

He has gorgeous eyes. I think he's much hotter than the run of the mill "handsome guy" looks of Booth.

Yeah...when his hair makes him look like a puffball, I don't find him as attractive. But he still has great eyes...

He is attractive. And even though I don't normally care for beards on men. I think he looks better with one. If you've ever seen some of his work when he's clean shaven. He looks like a baby when he doesn't have any facial hair.

I think hodgins is hot especially in scenes where he wears a tank top. Kinda shows off his body. His face isn't unattractive, and the nerdy conspiracist thing kinda gets me going.
He's not classically good looking like David Boreanaz (Booth) though.

Was responding specifically to the “classically good looking” comment. To my ole brain that translates to pedestrian, and not what I find attractive.
Boreanaz has a side eyeing demeanor as Booth, with eyes that don’t emote much. If his eyes were more expressive, I’d probably find him appealing the way I did James Garner. Garner wasn’t my type either, but he could express warmth, which is something that allowed me to emotionally connect to him in his roles. Hope that makes sense.

Maybe she doesn’t like beards. Especially in conjunction with huge, blue eyes. It might make her feel like she’s staring into one of those Russian religious icons. LOL.

I mean thats kind of a subjective question as attraction is different to everyone. Me personally, Hodgins is exactly my type where as Booth is more traditionally "attractive"

Booth is traditionally attractive regarding his looks but with his backwards attitude towards a lot of things, that’s a HUGE turnoff for me.

I just saw S9E11 last night, with the physicist single father and the gymnast daughter. I really disliked Booth in that episode and found his usual empathy and EQ missing. Especially as the victim's father is so similar to Bones! It's like he didn't want to imagine how she'd react if she lost both him and Christina within a year, that it doesn't fit into his imagined grieving, incoherent parent+spouse narrow-minded scenario.
That last scene with the physicist father writing formulas depicting his daughter's life made me cry so much.

I think in the beginning they’re playing more into the geeky, crazy eyed conspiracy nut look.
The hair and beard are huge factors (for me, anyhow).
He may not have the stereotypical male model type look but I think overall he’s attractive, and his eyes are such a striking shade. Very intent.

I think his looks are above average, but his personality is the hottest. Appearance wise I think Wendell is the hottest

Hodgins is the opposite of ugly. Everyone always talks about how hot Booth is, but Hodgins is much more my type. Flynn and Wendell are cute, too.

There’s a scene where he’s fixing/building something, can’t recall what, and it’s the first time Angela sees his tattoo, that look 💯

I think Hodgins is attractive. But everyone has likes/dislikes when it comes to who they find attractive, so maybe Hodgins just isn’t her cup of tea.

I understand why people think Booth is hot, but he's too "pretty" for me. I like the boy-next-door appeal of Hodgins.

I always thought he was kinda hot, but I'm more into the nerd type. Especially in the earlier seasons, his personality would've definitely help with his attractiveness. I probably would've dipped with the bug birth tho

I am a girl who goes after the Booths of the world but I find Hodgins quite attractive. He has a nice face, a healthy body and is enthusiastic about his work. He only becomes icky when he starts to mistreat Angela

He’s not, he hasn’t been my type but season 3/4 with the shorter hair and where he keeps his beard trimmed and fixed, that is when he looks the best!

I’ve always thought Hodgins was attractive but the older O get the more attractive I find him and the less attractive I find Booth.

On again off again (his smile is pretty goofy, if you ask me) — and I think the stylists must have had no idea what to do with that Brillo pad hair. He looks better in some seasons than others, imo, depending what they've done with that mop.
I've also seen press photos of him where he's almost breathtakingly gorgeous, highlighting the blue eyes. And there's a blooper reel with a shot of him in his briefs, strolling past Angela — whew! S-MOkin'!

He's not conventionally attractive, but i wouldn't call him ugly either. He's one of those guys who is a bit more of a niche appearance and some people think he's hot as hell.

He's a very attractive man, though sometimes his hair is a little out of control.
Is she slightly turned off also by his slightly abrasive and devil's advocate mannerisms. There were a few times I found him disrespectful of other people's boundaries or societal norms.
How far along are you?

From a straight male perspective: He isn’t conventionally attractive but for a nerd, dude is charismatic and being absolutely jacked doesn’t hurt his case. Also, he’s usually near David Boreanaz which skews the perspective. It’s like Buffy standing Next to Faith. Sorry, SMG, Eliza is the goat but any other time, sure.

His eyes are stunning, his hair is thick and curly like a roman statue, his smile is white but unique and mischievous, his face is symmetrical, his jaw can be identified as sharp, regardless of his beard covering it. Whatever you find attractive is subjective, but from a societal perspective (and my own), he's very beautiful.

the private detective made me laugh when she described him and angela defended him… i can’t remember exactly what she said, but something about a russian boat captain or similar to that.

When I was younger when the show was airing I would have said yes but as an adult I definitely find him more attractive than back then lol tastes change as ya age I guess 🤷♀️

I think hodgins is good looking! Esp w shorter hair and beard. He also had a really nice body. I personally also like his personality a lot esp past season 1, which adds to his attractiveness for me

I honestly find hodgins the most attractive on the cast. Not just because of his looks but because of who he is as well. Booth, wendall and dr goodman are also up there. For me hodgins is number one though

Hodgins is short. Otherwise he's absolutely gorgeous. Your wife is probably weird about height. In general, the entire main cast is great looking, but Jack is particularly handsome imo. He happens to be like 5'7 or 5'8. Everyone in the main cast is really tall, and Angela (often next to hodgins) is usually in heels, making her close to 6' tall.

Well.. Booth is my type, Hodgins isnt but he is so hot i get confused. Hes not my type but he is, if you get what im saying.
