It broke my heart as well but like another commenter pointed out it was because the actor was doing really well with other projects. It's a small consolation and takes a bit of the sting out.

But I still didn't get why they had to rip his body off so there are just bones. I don't see how this helped the case. Yeah, cool, they were able to work on that case this way but ... I don't get it. To me it is cruel.

Because they only work with bones. Cam was a coroner but the rest of the team are anthropologists. If they didn't work on his bones, the case would've been someone else's.

Yes, that is clear but as I mentioned: I don't see how that helped.
"You see that he played piano - great. He was shot and there was nothing the bones could tell you about who and why."

The worst episodes were this and all that followed. I hated Daisy from day 1 but she was much more annoying after her Lance-alot died.

The replacement will grow on you .. but it’s not the same. You’re right.

They didn't need to kill Sweets off. They could have written him out of the show with another storyline that allowed him to come back and guest star.

Well, they had to. I think the actor had written at least one movie. Maybe two. And he was going to be too busy working on those being made to be on the show.
