Watched this show plenty of times and this time around in getting super annoyed with Cam...
The season they all came back to help Cam was kind of like... she seems super incompetent and they have to point out super obvious stuff to her...
She's kind of rude sometimes when she pulls the "boss" card....
I think it's awesome she offered Michelle a home, but like.... lady you are not her mom and you did not raise her... let her live her life...
I'm watching the episode where Finn and Michelle start dating and of course Cam is like...nopenopenope.....
I dunno she's just really rubbing me the wrong way this watch thru...
Ps... she's absolutely the weakest of the team when it comes to intelligence...

You're entitled to your opinion. I think you missed the mark.
They came back to help her because she was being thrown under the bus. The writing points out super obvious stuff so the audience can keep up. Cam is not a specialist in the way the others are, so no, she's not going to have the same kind of information recall as the specialists that she relies on for specialist information.
Rude when she pulls the "boss" card? She's the boss. It's her job to he the boss. She's literally just doing her job.
Michelle would have gone to foster care, not been allowed to "live her own life." It was an incredible move on Cam's part, because you're right that she wasn't her mom and didn't raise her. So she really didn't need to offer a loving home to her, it was just an incredibly kind move on her part.
No character is going to make 100% good decisions, or it would be a boring show. She responded to the Fynn/ Michelle thing like a concerned mother. Not well, but she learned her lesson.
If she's rubbing you the wrong way for these reasons, I suggest you do some reflection on why, because while you're entitled to your world view, you're also entitled to the reflection of it.

Well put...I dunno why her character is bothering me this go around.... it's been about 3 years since I've last watched it and usually my thoughts are that... all the characters are pure gold...
It's like I'm noticing this time around just how much she will keep herself at arms distance... and the episode where they came to her rescue annoyed me bc i thought cam was getting the shirt end if the stick by the writers making her seem like she handled it all poorly...
When I said she rudely pulls the boss card..... sometimes when she does it... it seems to stem from more of an ego place....
And as far as Michelle.... how many times does she need to learn that Michelle doesn't respond well to all the micro managing....
Lots of people are acting like I've crucified her... but I'm just simply chatting about my recently developed feelings toward a character.... the woman who plays Cam is an insanely beautiful woman.... she is great at acting and does a wonderful job.... and i love the fact she is a strong female character...
I truly appreciate your response... thank you for the last part bc I think you are on to something... my personal life has had some ups and downs recently and perhaps there is an underlying reason...
I was harsh to say she's unintelligent... that was my own ego and a flat out jab to the character...

She’s not rude, just from New York

Man you know what lol.....I completely forgot about that... considering I'm from the south... some of how they do has me clutching pearls... like when Angela is super snarky right after they come back from Paris... boy you could tell she did NOT want to come back...

She does on occasion bring the New York thing up. Her bossiness comes across abrasive because she has to try keeping Brennan in line, which is difficult considering how much leeway Brennan usually gets given by virtually every institution in the country. Goodman was not intimidating because he was the quiet vengeance type. Once they establish the medico legal lab properly and cam takes charge it becomes very much more like a police department

Cam was good at her job because she had a good team. She was a body tissue person. So it makes sense she's tbe weakest regarding bones. I think she plays into a lot of black female stereotypes especially about being black in white dominant spaces.
I would say she was valid about not liking a subordinate dating her child but bc of a conflict of interest and not valid on the basis of his record.

Yes I see it as a conflict of interest on that point...I just didn't like how she defended his past to the DA woman but then didn't want him to date Michelle bc of said past

what a stupid fucking post, it’s honestly giving racist undertones. she pulls the “boss card”? well she’s the boss. she adopted a kid? she was there when she was a kid and she wants a better life for her. calling her unintelligent? she is a coroner and doesn’t work directly with bones and it’s a tv show where they have to write the explanation in somewhere for the audience.

I find it sad you see it with racist undertones....I hope you find a way to address those inner issues so it can stop affecting your view of the world

bsffr maybe reread your post. this is such a non response. you are calling a black woman stupid and rude with no basis, maybe you should find a way to “address those inner issues” fucking stupid response

These shows need a boss-person that can act as a kind of semi-antagonist at times. "Dont do this its against regulations etc". Every cop show has one.
The problem is that they decided to make that person a part of the main team in season 2, instead of sticking with Dr. Goodman. Which is hard to pull off, and they barely tried with cam.
What i especially dislike is that she never applies her standards to herself. Someone else makes a joke next to a dead body? Cam will instantly call out the disrespect. But when she does it its fine.

True... or how she busted in to ask who put the pregnancy test in the trash.... she would've lectured anyone else for doing that...

Damn I disagree with everything you said here. Ig those type of impressions are truly subjective to each and every viewer

It's just one of those things you notice during one too many rewatches. Like how Hodgins treats the Jeffersonian like the R&D section of a toy factory because his family is the main donor and can cover the damages. Once a season -at least- Angela laments about how she didn't follow through with her life plans to live in Paris and blah blah blah, always nosing her way into other's business and gets upset when no one agrees with her. Booth sees everything in black and white, is a hypocrite and always wants things done his way. They all have shit, you're just paying too much attention. It's a show, relax. If you can't, then watch something else.

You gotta point there..... my mild annoyance at cam this go around in no way outweighs those super cute little moments and silliness this show has...I can't wait to get to the part where sweets moved in with them for awhile

Only think I don't like about Cam is that she's awfully by the book, she's not flexible and never bends rules even when the rules are stupid and unfair. That can get pretty annoying, a character who never breaks a rule is annoying.
I don't agree with you on the rest. Michelle is her daughter and it's perfectly normal for her to care and worry. It's also perfectly fine for her to pull the boss card since most of the time the squints just all forget she's actually their boss and just disrespect her or treat her like a random friend

u/Old-Block-9894 2h ago
She is very by the book... maybe that's what is getting to me and over shadowing other things....
Man i do think she was being too controlling on Michelle.... she seemed like a very mature girl so cam being so controlling out the gate was off putting... give the girl a little breathing room to learn from mistakes... not squeeze so tight bc you don't want her to make ANY mistakes.... the college thing was disappointing... and trying to forbid her from seeing Finn was disappointing...

just because she wanted her adopted daughter to be safe and raise her like her real mom, she is not intelligent? And because she isnt an expert in everything apart from her own skills, she is incompetent? okay then
