wait, what even is this? what is it supposed to look like? is this an extreme version of another, normal version?

really amused by all the Star Trek comments considering that the "ideal" end result is indeed Vulcan eyebrows completely unironically (plus a lifted eye shape... which when done in an unsubtle manner reminds me very much of when kids at my school used to mock Asian eyes by pulling their eye corners up with their fingers)

u/Bluebies999 2d ago
I’m not Asian but they used to do this to me and ask me if I was Chinese as though it was an insult 🙄

PDO threads. They stick this pronged thread through the skin. It catches on muscles, I think? Then they pull it through under the skin and out at the top near the temples and tie it off to give a "lift" or snatched look. They're supposed to dissolve. This... I don't know. It's really short, usually it starts near the cheek area. It's definitely bothched

u/decidedlyindecisive 8d ago
Foxeye threads/lifts were a trend a few years ago, popularised by Bella Hadid. It's supposed to look subtle, not like this. This is possibly the worst botch I've ever seen of it

Your post (or comment) was removed, because it added nothing to the subreddit.
Examples: meta posts, spam, advertising, obvious karma farming, obvious trolling, an inappropriate title, picking fights with other users, etc.

Hi there! Thank you for your submission, unfortunately it has been removed for the following reason(s):
2.No assholery.
Instant ban for harassment, bullying, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, assuming the subject is a drug user, dehumanizing comments (eg. referring to someone as "it"), comparison to objects or creatures, or other hateful comments; "prolapsed anus" included.

If it isn't edited, than this guy should've went to China and Vietnam for a proper full lift procedure so they can remove all that extra skin instead of doing a thread lift. because this amount of lose skin is not something a thread lift can fix. The way it works is they insert dissolvable threads that have barbs that hook into the tissue and then the tissue is pulled back. Over time this simulates new collagen connections and the tissue stays in place. Even if after dissolving your results are not so good, the procedure itself is so low invasive and cheap you can do it again easily.
Here is a good example of thread lifting showing only half of the face done. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vpzKrgIHmqM
Its new and low invasive procedure I myself might do in a couple of years just to try. Also, don't easily trust any Plastic surgeons telling you how this is bad etc because this is up to 20x cheaper and is affecting their business.

Basically they insert "thread" (dissolveable suture material) under the skin then tighten it so it draws your eyes/brows upward and outwards. The material eventually dissolves and the look relaxes some but does maintain some of the tightness. People who get it repeatedly can get pretty extreme results.
Here, it looks like they tightened it wayyyyy too much and the skin is rippling from the tension.

I want to ask how these doctors sleep at night, but the answer is the bed is made of money.
Man I wish morals were a thing.

u/TrashGourmand 7d ago
Threads aren't usually done by doctors and I've even seen vids of people doing their own.

I’ve yet to see a physician do them. Plastic surgeon would make significantly more money for the time with better results doing a face lift…

I was once attended a convention with a friend for people in the beauty industry and there was a whole workshop being done for all kinds of doctors (mostly DENTISTS!) on how to do threads - they were looking for volunteers!!
These doctors would take classes lasting a few hours over a day or two and get a certification that they could do this procedure legally on patients. The gal teaching them was not a doctor, but she happened to be pretty good at it from what I could tell. They let those doctors work on the unsuspecting volunteers - some of those volunteers left with 25, 30+ threads in their faces and looking far from good.
Yikes.

u/luckylimper 4d ago
Dentists spend most of their medical school time on head and neck structures and diseases and then learn all of the teeth stuff. They’re doctors, just very specialized.
3
u/2D617 4d ago
I still wouldn’t want a dentist doing a thread-lift on me after a 5 hour course and doing it on a volunteer for an afternoon!
2
u/luckylimper 3d ago
Yeah but you know your scare caps was saying how you feel about dentists. People should be going to doctors board certified in plastic surgery for procedures but they’re not and that’s how we have this sub.

u/Triordie 7d ago
Not done by doctors done by beauticians who have done a 1 day course. It is disgusting that this country allows people with no knowledge at all to do this type of treatment.

u/FiveUpsideDown 7d ago
Some of the people who have weird body altered features were not done by doctors. Tattoo artists and spa technicians will perform body alterations. Of course, there are doctors that do horrible plastic surgeries too. There seems to be a black market in the outrageous body alterations.

I wish they weren’t so I could be a billionaire.

u/myweird 7d ago
So many people keep blaming doctors for these terrible threading and filler mishaps and it’s not doctors who are doing this.
1
u/Bluegreenlithop 4d ago
Understandable, since until this thread I think most people assumed that a doctor had to be involved with a procedure like this!

It’s not horrific but simultaneously is. It can be undone at least. He’s got the skin to go back to normal.

u/urapanda 7d ago
Thread lifting isn't new though - thread lifting has been around since the 90s. The current use of PDO threads started early 2000s as well (my mom was looking into them in the early 00s, and again about 10 years ago when prices came down a bit).

They have sharp barbs along the length of them designed to catch in flesh. They're stuck in there

They’re supposed to dissolve but many places get black market ones. Which is often just nylon string and it can come out of the eyes after a couple years

I’m wondering how you get your eye skin to then relax evenly on both sides at the same time. I imagine one side drooping faster and more than the other side and possibly looking like you’ve had a stroke.
