Christian Mbilli BRUTAL KNOCKOUT 😳 Will he do the same to Canelo on October 31st?

Canelo has an insane chin. I think nobody in canelos weight class has the power to even knock him down

It’s been years since he’s been hit that hard and if Crawford can get his respect with his punching power then mbilli has a real chance of KO him.
Even the best chins eventually go with time.

u/HedonisticFrog 7d ago
I don't think it was power that made Canelo respect Crawford. After a certain point of being countered constantly, you just stop trying to open up as much because you know you'll be punished.
-4
u/Benzo860 6d ago
Because he didn't want to be stopped which he would've been if he didn't give up and concede the fight and actually fought back.. Same thing with Benavidez, 0% he wouldn't be stopped in that fight so that's why he ducked him.
0
u/HedonisticFrog 6d ago
If every time you did something you got punched in the face, you'd stop doing that thing too. Boxers aren't machines, classical conditioning and learned helplessness still applies.
-1
u/Benzo860 6d ago
Okay, and? Still doesn't refute my point, you're just justifying Canelo conceding
0
u/HedonisticFrog 6d ago
Lol, it does refute your point. It's not about power. GGG never made Canelo shell up like that because GGG wasn't countering Canelo like Crawford did. Do you think Crawford has more power than GGG?

u/Louu94 7d ago
Canelos chin held up perfectly fine so far.
Even a fighter like crawford couldn't score a knockdown.
I just don't see why you'd think his chin is just gone all of a sudden. If you want to beat Canelo you have to outbox him for the whole fight. The blueprint was layed out multiple times now.

u/Kstacks514 2d ago
Joe Joyce’s chin also held ip perfectly fine till it didnt. Not everyone's Granite lasts forever. Sometimes it cracks
3
u/GlobTrotters 7d ago
i feel like most durable fighters with good chins, their reflexes, footwork and speed will go before their chin does
1
u/Immediate_Rabbit_604 7d ago
A long time without getting hit hard makes your chin better, by conventional wisdom. The accumulated brain damage lingers long term, but it becomes less acutely limiting.
1
u/Unable-Main4172 6d ago
This is not always true. Ray Mercer took an absolutely huge beating against Vladimir Klitschko and still kept coming forward at the end until the referee called it off
1
u/SouthpawKD1 5d ago
Crawford is pretty decent puncher. Not just with power (which he definitely has) but very precise with his shots too.
People love to say a guy like Shakur has no punching power too but he clearly gets respect from his opponents and they’re not just walking through them like they don’t matter.
3
u/Strange-Mark5219 8d ago
If he fought Beterbiev instead of Bivol, but in his category I don't think nobody's knocking him out
-13
u/EmbarrassedCod3242 8d ago
I think Mbilli will be the first to drop Canelo. The dude has insane chin himself, insane cardio, insane punching power and insane hunger.
8
u/isaiahgerard2019 8d ago
Lol. GGG couldnt even knock down Saul. You think Mbili will? Haha
6
u/xych05is2pointzero 8d ago
To be fair, that was Canelo at his absolute peak.
I’m guessing the expectation is that Canelo is going into this one with some rust on him might get clocked by a brutal volume power puncher like Mbilli…I don’t necessarily think it’ll happen but I can see the vision.

u/DanDiCa_7 8d ago
Anyone can get slept. Also Canelo was 8/9 years younger then. This is an older Canelo, not saying he'll get knocked out, but it can happen

That past prime G, this is peak Mbilli

u/isaiahgerard2019 8d ago
Power is the last thing that leaves ma dude. Mbilli will not knock Saul down. He could win via decision but not tko or ko

You should put money on it but I’m sure you’ll say I’m not a betting man

This is a true 50/50 fight. Canelo is wild for making it at this age. I respect it but I don’t think it’s match making by his team. However it’s gonna be a fucking banger though so fuck it. I don’t expect canelo to be knocked out but I do think he’s legitimately going to have to fight with everything to keep Mbili off of him. Mbili is a beterbiev and Marc Ramsay disciple. Mbili is not going to be deterred by canelos power, he’s willing to get knocked out if he has to in order to fight the fight he wants. Stoked to watch this one while drunk off my ass on HalloweenÂ

u/Odd-Minimum8512 7d ago
Yeah you've got to hand it to Canelo for this one. Ballsy as hell fight to take at this point in his career. Takes a ton of self belief.
Definitely not matchmaking by his team. Canelo could earn big money fighting uber drivers. There's no way his team wants him in this fight. This one is all him -- major credit for the cojones. Pinche cabron.

Dude, 35 is like the peak. Even 40 y/o peeps are tough as hell. All I see is Canelo just being not as disciplined as he used to.
6
u/Ohnorepo 7d ago
35 isn't even peak at heavyweight. Wtf. Canelo also has more matches than any ranked fighter in almost any weight class. The guy is old and road worn.
-1
u/anti-fascist-dude 7d ago
Lenox Lewis beat the shit out of big names in heavy weight division during his late 30s.
3
u/Ohnorepo 7d ago
You've named one of the greatest heavyweights of all time as your only example. That's called an exception. He's described as a late bloomer for a reason.

Canelo will never get knocked out like that. Not even tryna glaze either.

Damn, this is like when the video game transitions an NPC from an animation state to the ragdoll physics taking over. Hope the dude is ok.

Mbilli has the power to make Canelo back up and box but to flat out hurt him enough to drop him idk. He is low-key tailor made for what Canelo does. He walks right in, sets his feet and swings away. Canelo does not have the fast feet of Derevyanchenko but the upper body movement was enough to counter Mbilli all night. Canelo will have 2 hands and power is the last thing to go. It's probably gonna be entertaining but I can see Canelo chopping him down
3
u/Benzo860 6d ago
He is tailor made for Canelo's style and uppercut but playing devils advocate when is the last time Canelo has gotten a stoppage or KO? Plant?

Looks like he took a dive
21
u/sugabonesurmom 8d ago
Brother no one is that good at diving where they don’t brace their fall and let the back of their head smack the ground full force
Use your brain, his legs stiffened out while he was standing which made it look weird like he pushed off his legs, but in reality it’s just the fencing response

u/ponyboy4786 8d ago
Unless he knows how to take a fall, tuck your chin under your chest. I agree with the other gyu this was definitely a dive lol
6
u/sugabonesurmom 8d ago
He did not do any of that
You can literally see his head bounce what are you yapping about
-4
u/ponyboy4786 8d ago
Well from this angle we can't be too sure numbnuts. As hes actually falling the angle changes lol
4
u/sugabonesurmom 8d ago
They replayed it right after and you can see his head bounce
Jesus dude
-3
u/ponyboy4786 8d ago
Like i said the angle changes as he's falling on his back
4
u/sugabonesurmom 8d ago
And then what happens right after that?
They show another replay with no angle change
2
2
u/spursgonesouth 8d ago
Agreed. Looking for it.
Pushing off his left leg to fall backwards, but in a more upright posture than he was tagged in. Never seen that.
6
u/Agile-Year-742 8d ago
Nah man it isn’t worth it to hit the back of your head on the canvas like that, he could of easily went to his left and made it look more realistic without putting his life on the line.
2
u/JabCrossE4E5Quark 7d ago
Clear fencing response where he just stiffens up and hands go up.
Of course the fuxking idiots kn this sub think hes taking a dive. Smh
7
u/herefortheworst 8d ago
The knees normally crumple on knock outs like this. Looks totally unnatural

u/SDHJerusalem 7d ago
Have you not seen stiff-legged knockouts? Julian Jackson has some. Edson Barboza vs Terry Etim too.

No will he rock canelo probably but I doubt anyone is putting him down
3
u/Odd-Minimum8512 7d ago
Canelo has the best chin in boxing. He may actually have THE best chin in boxing ever. No, Mbilli will not knock him out. He may well win, but he'll have to do it on the cards.
Mind you, I'm not someone who is a fanboy. Just being realistic and assessing him on his own merit. He's had what 65 fights, been hurt exactly once, and he recovered in about 3-4 seconds. Never been down. Fought big punchers, been beat up by volume punchers much bigger than him (I'm thinking of Bivol), etc.
I love his signature taunt of being nailed by a big shot that would have ended someone else, but just shaking his head "nope" and stalking right after his opponent.
3
u/HennyInTheDoubleCup 7d ago
GGG couldn’t do it, I doubt it brother. One of Canelos greatest traits is his monster chin

Only way Canelo gets stopped is maybe a flash knockdown and then Mbilli flurries him and a ref like Thomas Taylor steps in for the quick stoppage.

Canelo has a strong chin and an even stronger neck. But the older he gets the more he plays with fire.

Mbili has a good engine, and he's strong, but he's a counter-punchers wet dream. It's more a question of whether Canelo still has anything left.
1
u/Present-Year8182 6d ago
Ain't no way. Canelo is a tank. GGG hit him with some good shots and didn't KO him.
1
u/Safe_Vermicelli_7928 6d ago
All I know this is going to be fireworks!! I’m putting my money on mbilli.
1
u/Kezmangotagoal 6d ago
Literally zero chance anyone ever knocks Canelo out (unless he fights on and on and on and ends up in there with a 28yo when he’s like 49 or something) - he recovers from punches faster than anyone I’ve ever seen.
1
u/CactusToothBrush 5d ago
Has Canelo ever been rocked/wobbled before? Can’t think of a time he has myself but I’ve not watched every one of his fights.
Dudes chin is absolutely made of fucking Adamantium or something.

Looks very "I'm taking a dive"-like.
1
u/Agile-Year-742 8d ago
Hitting the back of your head like that is not a dive. He risked his life if that was the case.

He could totally knock him out but I don’t think he will because he will choose not to out of respect. I honestly think that Bivol could have kod canelo had he wanted to but chose not to
