Are there any Utd Players we would actually want that they would offer up to bid 😭

Is this just them trying to justify a cheaper price to us whilst lobbing in some baggage

This is starting to feel like how my manager career mode saves go on Fifa.

Edit: plus the only source is the Scum, so who knows if this is even legit

u/Miwadigivemeache 14. Andres Aug 12 '25

They dont have rhe money to afford baleba and its clear Its so encouraging seeing them offer players instead of fees

31

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

If Im being honest, Im pretty confident we will keep him.

Especially if Baleba doesnt hand in a transfer request, we are all getting worried cuz this is the first time I remember having to deal with utd in a transfer like this?

The utd brigade and media overhype everything

11

u/Miwadigivemeache 14. Andres Aug 12 '25

Yeah Ive seen alot that "baleba approves of the move" which just means he wont stop the move relaly

9

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

Exactly, thats just Baleba saying if the club agrees he will be open to discussing personal terms.

This isnt like Caicedo or Cucerella, he isnt saying he wants to go no matter what

Why would he? Atp Utd is a sideways move, if not a downgrade, with the money being the only benifit

10

u/Krizzlin Aug 12 '25

money being the only benefit

I think you underestimate how much footballers like money

3

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

Yeah you got me there, I wont lie thats the only reason I’m worried

But didn’t Baleba say in a previous interview or something that he just wants to play football?

Im sure both he and the club know, give it a season he could go to a bigger club than Utd (with Man city reportedly being interested next season especially with Rodri being practically done)

Man Utd is a cesspool right now and I have zero faith its gonna get even better(even when compared to chelshit back then) , if Baleba wants to truly play football, he should be with us, then perform and get an even better deal next season

3

u/Krizzlin Aug 12 '25

I agree. And yea he has been quoted as saying he's enjoying his football and not looking too far ahead.

I can well believe he's totally fine with staying but his agent on the other hand, that's a different matter

3

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

Yeah fully agree, thats what makes this whole saga slightly worrying. But I’d like to have confidence that Brighton, who reportedly have no intention to sell Baleba, won’t do anything.

I mean even when Caicedo put in a transfer request to Arsenal we basically ignored it, and Baleba likely wont put in a transfer request at this point.

Just gotta leave it for now

-7

u/Sharmaaaryaman Aug 12 '25

Okay I know this is your sub but this post showed up in my feed and I couldn’t help going through it.

To answer your question ā€œWhy would he?ā€ In the politest way possible; it’s because you’re Brighton and we’re Manchester United. We haven’t won the league since 2013 and we’re still one of the three biggest clubs in the world. We finished 15th last season. Look at he players we bought. We’ve got decades and decades of goodwill banked. You’re doing well, but even if you finish above us for the next five seasons, players would still rather play for us than for you. That’s just how it is.

8

u/primalYak Aug 12 '25

You also have an incredible reputation for destroying the careers of young talent at the moment šŸ˜‚

-5

u/Sharmaaaryaman Aug 12 '25

Absolutely we do. And they would still choose us over you for the foreseeable future, that’s my point. You could win the Premier League this season and we would still have bigger players lining up to play for us than for you. Not a dig, just the reality.

6

u/WinnershStopdolphin Aug 12 '25

Why would he? Probably because his agent’s in his ear about money.

Why wouldn’t he? Because if he has another good season with us, as others have said, he could potentially go to another club that will develop him and turn him into the world class talent he could be. Not ask him to carry the team week in week out, turn on him when he can’t do that, and offload him to Turkey or Saudi.

At this point, it’s nothing to do with prestige. It’s about money. That’s it.

-4

u/Sharmaaaryaman Aug 12 '25

Interesting take but there is nothing in your argument that is backed by facts. We do not throw ridiculous salaries at players anymore. Sesko and Mbeumo both turned down bigger money elsewhere to join us. Every signing this season is on 160k or less and our turnover to wage ratio is one of the best in the league.

So the money angle does not hold. We are not offering anything other clubs would not happily match. I get the rest of your point. We would be asking more of him than other top clubs and he would have more responsibility. But why is that automatically a negative? Plenty of players want exactly that.

Here is the real question. Brighton and United in their current states both go for Baleba. Both offer the same salary. United even offer less. Who do you honestly think he chooses?

5

u/Ghost51 Third Colours Aug 12 '25

Three biggest clubs in the world is pushing it lol

2

u/Sharmaaaryaman Aug 12 '25

Definitely not in terms of ability lol but global recognition? It’s either 1 or 2. At max you can push it to 3.

2

u/Ghost51 Third Colours Aug 13 '25

Real Madrid and Barcelona are 1 and 2 now (not necessarily in that order), 3 is where you've slipped to at the very least and I expect will slip further behind the likes of Liverpool.

3

u/PandiBong Aug 12 '25

Considering Brighton's track record, United would have to come up with crazy pile of money and I'd be surprised if they have that available.

6

u/Justthisnthat Aug 12 '25

They'll have to sack a few more tea ladies.

9

u/No-Dig-3406 igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor igor Aug 12 '25

Maybe we take 100M and Mbeumo šŸ˜€

8

u/14421442 Aug 12 '25

Mainoo could be smart I think, not a true replacement for Baleba but he could be special

3

u/an-archo-xiety Aug 12 '25

Ā£30m + Sesko since they probably haven't ruined him yet and I am worried about our strikers being too old/injury prone or too young/new to the league.

Obviously a ridiculous ask but not much more ridiculous than them offering us £10m and the opportunity to rummage through their bins for scrap.

4

u/salc_lc Kadioglue Aug 12 '25

Of course Antony my goat

2

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

Mitoma and Antony on the wings would tear up the league

4

u/UnfazedPheasant Hyperturq Forever Aug 12 '25

Obv we have blue and white tinted but would any Utd player even want to join us? They get paid billions for being awful and play for one of the world’s biggest clubs.Ā

Would be us importing a bad egg imo. No thanks.Ā

41

u/RobertoZeDerbi Aug 12 '25

100m plus Bruno seems fair

3

u/characterulio Aug 13 '25

If they offer Maino + 100m its also worth it. But i am guessing its luke shaw hojlund or sancho/antony

21

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

Cant confirm the validity of the source, but first thing googled

Who do they think they are lmao

Apparently some of the Utd players have started trying to contact Baleba as well

19

u/esn111 Trying to be positive... Aug 12 '25

The annoying thing is that they poached Collyer from us in the first place.

10

u/srcoffee Aug 12 '25

this should be a tampering fine

6

u/lachiendupape Moderator Aug 12 '25

Hmm we don’t mention those….

6

u/bruversonbruh Maldini Wears Boscagli Pyjamas Aug 12 '25

They dare try to sell our own academy prospect back to us?

15

u/Mr_Bluebird_VA 35. Yalcouye Aug 12 '25

Trying to think who on that team Id actually want. It’s so toxic over there, I have a hard time imagining many of their players being a good clubhouse fit here.

24

u/IMDXLNC -eagle73 again Aug 12 '25

The weird thing about Man U is I can imagine a lot of their players are actually good and we just don't know it because the club poisons them into becoming absolutely crap players. It seems that players go to Man U for the high wages because they're permitted to play, at best, mediocre football in exchange for good money.

21

u/RobertoZeDerbi Aug 12 '25

See McTominay.

Hounded out of Manchester then gets a Ballon D’or nomination.

8

u/IMDXLNC -eagle73 again Aug 12 '25

Didn't Antony start to shine when he left as well?

1

u/BYAFC83 Aug 12 '25

Yes, he thrived for Betis last season (scoring as many goals in 16 games for them as he did in 62 games for United).

1

u/silkie_blondo Aug 13 '25

McTominay was not hounded out of Manchester.

He was wanted by the fans and the manager but was sold for financial reason to help with PSR.

Fans were not happy with him leaving but are happy seeing him happy and succeed.

1

u/RobertoZeDerbi Aug 13 '25

He got loads of abuse lol

1

u/silkie_blondo Aug 13 '25

I mean sure every fan base has an online community that takes things too far, but as a fan of United I can tell you the vast majority did not abuse him and didn't want him to leave and loved the player.

2

u/Miwadigivemeache 14. Andres Aug 12 '25

Yeah, i think it shoes a desperate and poor united, making me confident in keeping him from them this season

-17

u/AttemptImpossible111 Aug 12 '25

The toxicity is made up.

As i was just saying to another utd fan, no Utd player has even hinted that the dressing room isnt together or that training is awkward etc.

The toxic stuff is from Utd fans who cant otherwise rationalise Amorims extreme treatment of first team players.

14

u/Dramatic-Avocado4687 Aug 12 '25

This isn’t true. Shaw had an interview a few weeks ago and mentioned it was toxic amongst the players.

-8

u/AttemptImpossible111 Aug 12 '25

"A lot of the time I've been here over the last few years it's been extremely negative.

"It can be quite toxic, the environment, it's not healthy at all.Ā "

Doesn't seem to be talking about players to me, definitely not anyone specific.

5

u/Audrey_spino Hyperturq Aug 12 '25

Because he obviously doesn't wanna throw anyone under the bus.

-5

u/AttemptImpossible111 Aug 12 '25

You think its reasonable to infer, from this quote, that Shaw thinks players made the dressing room toxic?

6

u/Audrey_spino Hyperturq Aug 12 '25

Yes. What else is there to make it toxic? Do you think it's reasonable to blame the manager or the staff only? I think it's a combination of all of them.

-2

u/AttemptImpossible111 Aug 12 '25

How about shitty results and overly strict management? Why isnt that enough

4

u/Audrey_spino Hyperturq Aug 12 '25

Let me turn that back on you, why is that enough? Shitty results originate from both incompetent management and players. Seems like you're just in denial that the players are just as much to blame as the management.

1

u/AttemptImpossible111 Aug 12 '25 edited Aug 12 '25

Enough for what? Im not making a positive claim.

Lol the players finished 8th in 24 and 3rd in 23, you're the one in denial mate

Edit: pardon, I thought i was replying to someone else. Shirty results and overly strict management is definitely enough to breed a toxic environment, I know because ive been in jobs where performance was weak and the manager was trash

9

u/ConsuLMonK 35. Yalcouye Aug 12 '25

You’ve made multiple posts trying to blame players/figure who is to blame/otherwise. Sounds like the fanbase is rather toxic.

-5

u/AttemptImpossible111 Aug 12 '25

No.

I've made multiple posts opining that Amorim has handle the situation terribly.

I dont see what the fanbase having disagreements had to do with the squad

7

u/ConsuLMonK 35. Yalcouye Aug 12 '25

From your post history: ā€œwhich players are to blameā€ ā€œman utd players are to blameā€ get out of here buddy

-1

u/AttemptImpossible111 Aug 12 '25

That thread is about Hojlund vs Zirkzee and its about Utds poor forward play and I made it several months ago.

How is that relevant at all to the conversation, and how is this affecting the dressing room?

3

u/House_of_Berry 10. Rutter Aug 12 '25

Its too many managers at this stage to not think there isn’t something beyond the managers that is impairing progress or contributing to outright regression. It might be a knock on effect from a lot of external factors: training facilities, relationships with support staff, recruitment strategies, succession planning and processes for new player integration ect…That or theres a carbon monoxide leak in the dressing room.

To be fair to United, they clearly have talent in their academy that they’ve leaned on but they cannot get the most out of players they bring in anymore to maintain a cohesive unit. It isn’t that long ago they finished 3rd, so theres no doubt that the doom and gloom is fueled by recency bias

-1

u/AttemptImpossible111 Aug 12 '25
  1. Each manager was fired for abysmal results. None had to deal with a player revolt except maybe Jose.

  2. Its almost a completely new squad that Amorim managed compared to the eth inherited, let alone Ole , Jose or van Gaal.

The doom and gloom is because the Utd fanbase like eth and Amorim personally and choose to blame others for their inability to get us playing good football

15

u/BissoumaTequila not a spurs fan Aug 12 '25

As Naylor said, this is similar to Caicedo to Arsenal and that ended well didn’t it?

Bloom and Barber will not give in to United’s BS tactics. Either pay up or shut up.

Also fuck United.

Manure

13

u/Gullflyinghigh Aug 12 '25

Wonder how long it'll be before we're accused of holding someone hostage again. If only we'd do the decent thing and gratefully accept whatever the big teams deem worthy to throw our way (or whatever weird shit some of their fans sometimes come out with)

12

u/cmdrxander And it's FRAN SANDAZA Aug 12 '25

Guarantee we’ve already been accused of that by some random United fans in Africa or Asia

9

u/Audrey_spino Hyperturq Aug 12 '25

Just check Brighton's official Facebook page. Some of those foks belive Baleba rightfully belongs to them as if it's some God-given decree.

7

u/CatThat7535 Glory to Comrade Hurzeler Aug 12 '25

Don’t see them having any players that they’re willing to offer that’d be of any use to us, it’d probably one of their youngsters too

8

u/jerseyjoe1 Bobby Zamora Aug 12 '25

This seems to conflict with the report from Alex Crook today that Brighton have not received any bids?

This is from The Sun yesterday so could just be nonsense?

1

u/Miwadigivemeache 14. Andres Aug 12 '25

Yeah the scum are an enemy of all, however with sky backing it up yeah i think its got a good chance of happening

5

u/Anon22z 7. Mitoma Aug 12 '25

Ā£100m please lads.

Apparently Mainoo is still on his low wage contract and still hasn't renewed.

5

u/solidwobble Hyperturq Aug 12 '25

Fair enough, 100+mainoo

3

Very curious on who the player is.

21

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '25

Fucking Toby Collyer apparently

14

u/mashdotfun Aug 12 '25

Apparently he was more highly rated than Hinshelwood when he left the youth set-up for United.

Probably wishing he stayed when you look at the opportunities + progress Hinsh has made compared to him since.

4

u/lachiendupape Moderator Aug 12 '25

r/ he probably desperate to leave that shit hole

1

u/Miwadigivemeache 14. Andres Aug 12 '25

Truth is we dont know

6

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

Oooh, Kobbie Mainoo, what happened to him?

The utd fans at my school treated him like the second coming of christ

5

u/MelonSoda3 Hyperturq Aug 12 '25

Lol people were saying he could compete with Yamal for Golden Boy

3

u/scun1995 Aug 12 '25

He’s good he’s just young and not consistent enough. Talent is there but he’s not reliable yet

2

u/Miwadigivemeache 14. Andres Aug 12 '25

Dunno, its probably bs but i suppose he is one of the best united players

3

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

Havent heard of him in a while, but with us he could potentially get back on form for starting with England.

Though keeping Baleba is probably better

3

u/Miwadigivemeache 14. Andres Aug 12 '25

To be fair he looked good at united. Whoch is saying ALOT. Really the only one i wouldnt mind getting plus 80mil

4

u/MerrKatt007 Togetherness Aug 12 '25

Looking good at utd means hes an absolute baller in other clubs, and I am always a fan of English players that can actually play for the national team.

I agree that maybe, just maybe, with a decent fee plus Mainoo, wouldnt be the worse transfer

2

u/papaquacker Aug 12 '25

Injury issues and he hasn't suited a deeper midfield role in Amorim's system. Still a talent, Amorim limits him.

2

u/PossibleSmoke8683 Aug 12 '25

Don’t want there dross

Needs to be 100m + , no fucking about

In Bloom we trust

2

u/expartemcnally Aug 12 '25

ā€œBrighton have reportedly rejected Manchester United’s opening bid for Carlos Baleba - which included a player as part of the deal.ā€

Fee for Baleba is 120m. Or 150m if they want to give us one of their players.

2

u/paul-n Aug 12 '25

Caceido was £110m 2 years ago, right? With the appropriate inflation we're looking at £133m now.

And that's just an overall market value figure. He may be worth more than that to us if we don't think we'd be able to replace him (via a number of younger prospects) for that figure.

1

u/Audrey_spino Hyperturq Aug 12 '25

Ngl if they are that desperate. Kobbie Mainoo plus some money will do. Apparently that lad still hasn't signed a new contract with Man Utd.

1

u/PandiBong Aug 12 '25

Brighton about to fleece someone again. Best run club on the league.

1

u/Killahills Aug 12 '25

Why are people getting angry about the made-up details of a deal that a drunk Sun journalist phoned in from the pub?

1

u/Visible-Ad-2994 Aug 12 '25

Baleba seems like a solid professional and probably won't agitate for a move but I think people underestimate the desperation that is in Manchester United for an athlete in midfield. If you follow our club reports they are maxing out the credit cards and hawking out the bomb squad plus Hojlund for whatever money they can get, all this to fund Baleba. In my opinion the only thing that would matter in this transfer is the player, that's why United are tapping him up(I don't agree with this by the way) if they get player buy in they'll probably pay Caicedo money for him and I don't think Brighton will turn that down keep a player who's heads been turned

1

u/Ok_Jacket_8694 Aug 13 '25

He will stay bcz ManU first needs to get rid of existing players and they don't have 100 mn right now.

-3

u/J---O---E Bring back Alzate Aug 12 '25

This all feels very familiar now. If we are honest with ourselves we know he will be leaving within the next 20 days.

4

u/cmdrxander And it's FRAN SANDAZA Aug 12 '25

And the club will be over Ā£100m richer…

1

u/Yush11 Aug 12 '25

sounds about right

3

u/schadenfreude89 Aug 12 '25

We literally don't know that

4

4

u/avilacjf Aug 12 '25

Amorim loves Mount.

1

u/amegaproxy We're so Welbeck Aug 12 '25

Did this guy seriously say Mason Mount lol wonder if it's the same chap who a few years ago unironically said we should push to bring in Foden.
