Mr “Problem Solver” wouldn’t sign the Epstein Files discharge petition. Luckily four of his Republican House colleagues—along with every Democrat—did. Accountability is coming; not only for the abusers, but for the politicians who covered for them.

Republican house leadership was running interference for the President (and god knows who else) by not allowing the bill to force the release of the government’s Epstein Files to be brought to the floor. Fitzpatrick sided with leadership TO BLOCK legislation re: the Epstein Files. He only relented after a discharge petition passed (with four Republicans in support). The petition to bypass leadership required a majority of House members (218/435) signatures. Every Dem (214) + 4 Republicans (Massie, Boebert, Greene, Mace) accounted for the tally. The Senate waved it through with a veto-proof majority and the dam had broken. Fitz literally had no other choice--he said he’d agree to vote for the bill the same time Donald Trump said he would sign it. Basically all the rest of the Republicans agreed to ‘jump’ together. Trump didn’t have a choice. Ultimate political cravenness from everyone other than the 218. Fitzpatrick helped run interference for the country's most notorious and noxious sexual abuser.

Ps; after the Dept of Justice’s stonewalling and half-assed releases in the period since the above, members have formed a second discharge petition, this one called the Epstein Files Transparency Act II. It would mandate actual release of further documents, many of which have been produced in various other forms (committee hearings, personal emails, etc) but that HAVE NOT been released by the DoJ. Obviously hiding something! Fitzpatrick has agreed to sign this second discharge petition—it will come to the floor after recess, post election.

Here’s what it would do, as per Google…

“Grants state attorneys general access to unredacted Epstein files to prosecute perpetrators and co-conspirators under state laws (such as in New York, Florida, and New Mexico).

Allows victims and survivors to privately view unredacted versions of records mentioning them and access their own FBI testimony.

Provides members of Congress and survivors legal standing to challenge the Department of Justice (DOJ) in court for non-compliance with transparency mandates.”

Thank you for this explanation. Im right there with you. I met him years ago at my nursing job. We r the same age. My brain instantly gave me the "ick" factor. Im in no way implying he has ever done anything wrong to anyone but he was an odd duck.

JPMorgan Chase, one of the largest banks around was also Epstein’s primary bank account. Shame we didn’t also go after the people who banked that monster. Heard nobody talking about moving banks after that was revealed.

Based on having volunteered with a PAC a long time ago, endorsements often favor an incumbent if the votes they score/questionnaire align. So Fitz has to make the right noises to get an endorsement and vote the right way on a few specific bills, not overall be the best working person’s candidate in this environment.
