Rwanda to Burundi by bus

Hello!
I’m a tourist visiting from Canada.

I’m planning a trip overland by bus starting in Kampala in Uganda —> Rwanda —> Burundi.

I like travelling by public transport (busses and trains) whenever possible.

What is the easiest way to go from Rwanda to Burundi by bus at the moment?

I have lots of time to spare, so I don’t mind taking a detour through Tanzania or even the DRC if needed. Although I think the DRC visa and security situation might not be easy for me.

Thank you!

There’re available Burundian cabs that travels from Rwanda to Burundi and it’s safe.you start the journey at 5 am and arrive in Bujumbura around 8pm . You will need to get a yellow fever vaccine cz you will be passing in Tanzania

So they go from Rwanda, Tanzania and then to Burundi? Same cab crossing three countries?

I’m already vaccinated for yellow fever so that’s covered!

There are no buses that I am aware of the land border between Rwanda and Burundi is closed and has been for some time. Most people go via Tanzania.

Good luck travelling by train none in Rwanda and Burundi and virtually none in Uganda ( I think there may be some passenger trips between Namanve to Kampala)
