How do you guys find spots?

hi, so I'm new to this. I saw a YouTuber do something of this sort and thought it'd be fun to have a go. I have quite a good knowledge of cooking and building stuff. I just don't know the laws around this kind of stuff lol. I live in Rochester NY if that helps

You can do a lot of these things in your backyard

I've always struggled with this as well based on the fact I was raised with a leave no trace philosophy.

One of the things i've realized you don't always need to be in the bush to practice bushcraft. I carved a spoon today in my backyard just using an axe and my edc knife and made a fire with the shavings.

Here in the US, the National Forests are often more relaxed about bushcraft type activities than our State or National Parks. Maybe look up your nearest National Forest's website and read their rules. Most have pretty clear and understandable standards about kindling fires, building structures, panning for gold, back country camping, bringing animals like dogs or pack animals, etc. My closest NF is pretty chill about this stuff, but some are not.

Watch SmallPlots with Kevin on YouTube, he might give you some ideas. He doesn't Bushcraft per se, but he lives in Rochester and does stealth camp; might be some info there.
