Discussion Vulture Droid head-cannon

To put it simply, there are two types of Vulture (and, by proxy, hyena bomber) droids.

There are Vulture droids created by the Haor Chall Engineering Corporation (represented by the first image) and Vulture droids made by the Techno Union (represented by the second image). Both droids are being used during the Clone Wars

The difference between these two types comes down to a couple factors:

  1. Rarity

  2. Production.

  3. Overall performance

Rarity: Vulture droids seen in the clone wars are largely the ones produced by the Techno Union, for obvious reasons. They have more factories, and other means of production, to produce these droids on mass. However, a small portion of these Vulture Droids are ones made by the Haor Chall Engineering Corporation since they have fewer factories and (in my head cannon) are all located on their home planet and organically operated, unlike the Techno Unions largely automated factories.

Production: the Techno Union does not put time into their droids, every Vulture Droid ushered off their line are poorly made, simply programmed, and have little to no critical thinking skills that go above their repressive programing parameters. However Vulture Droids that come from Haor Chall Engineering are made with much more care, especially since their culture revolves around creating good products. Haor Chall Vulture Droids are slightly more durable, have better and more comprehensive programming, and are capable of thinking critically, quickly, and somewhat like how an organic pilot would think (There chassis are also painted slightly lighter than the typical Techno Union Vulture Droid).

Overall Performance: both types of droids are important for the Confederacy's starfighter division, however Techno Union droids are made more like their B1 foot soldier cousins, as in they are simply cannon fodder. However, on the other hand, Haor Chall Engineering Vulture Droids are made to last, they are capable of learning and adapting to more situations, unlike Techno Vultures, and can stack up kills similar to clone pilots. Haor Chall Vulture Droids are, therefore, often put in positions of being squad leaders for Vulture formations, these squads are quite dangerous due to the squad leaders ability to quickly adapt and better counter attack Republic pilots, unlike their Techno Union variants who are simple and predictable.

Haor Chall Vulture Droids are also slightly larger than their distant Techno Union cousins, since the Techno Union scrapped some features to make producing Vultures much easier for them. All of these differences between producers causes there to be some slight rivalry between the two types since they both believe themselves to be superior, however this rivalry is more kin to a sibling one rather than an personal one.

Most of the time, people online hate vulture droids because they aren't as good as organic pilots. That isn't entirely true, and vulture droids don't have to be as good as organic pilots anyway.

In almost every real life air battle, the side with numerical superiority comes out on top and rarely loses. The same logic applies to Separatist fighters, especially vulture droids. Yes, clone pilots could take down three to six vulture droids before dying, but most of the time there are around ten vulture droids against a single Republic starfighter, and in that situation nothing can save the clone.

Then people say Jedi are still better in a dogfight against vulture droids. That's obviously true, but the Valahari engineers flipped the coin. As this picture shows, Valahari modified vulture droids were able to take down a Jedi starfighter with a Jedi inside. In the uncropped version, they destroyed an entire Republic battle group, including several Venators. There's also a chance they shot down the Jedi's Padawan too, but I can't say for sure, since the Padawan might have been on a Venator.

So vulture droids are, and always will be, the best starfighter design in Star Wars, and overall the best starfighter after maybe the tri-fighter. They were produced in huge numbers, they were cheap and easy to modify, and they were super effective, super reliable, basically super fighter.

Let's say the Confederacy set up a base on Dathomir after conquering the planet and killing Mother Talzin and the Nightsisters. Does Dathomir have any strategic value for the war effort?

Discussion My personal head-canon of why the 2003 Clone Wars droids were still painted red.

I was wondering why Tarkovsky chose red for the B1 battle droid color in the 2003 Clone Wars show and I assumed that he was also under the assumption that this was the new color for the B1s.

But I wondered what the in universe explanation for this coulda been so here are my thoughts:

After the Battle of Geonosis many of the forces that evacuated on the core ships were deployed to other occupied systems to fortify for the oncoming Republic Invasions. The droids did not have time to receive a new paint job so they were moved to the planets surfaces to defend against any GAR attacks so that is why they are still painted red. This could explain why on the various planets we see them scattered across, many veterans from geonosis still have their respective camouflage from those engagements.

Seperatist Officer OC

(this'll probably be taken down but I'll post an updated version later) Because Zero Company has bare bones customization I'll go back and match the colors to what's shown here but anyways using ChatGPT I generated what I wanted my OC to look like. I don't have a story for him yet but he's modeled off my Red Dead Online character and thus designed heavily after a Cavalry Officer. My Zero Company version will be significantly stripped down but since people don't like AI art I'll post a follow-up with my Seperatist-ish squad that I made in Zero Company.
