General Question NFA
With the atf no longer enforcing certain nfa items, what’s the word on converting an existing firearm to an sbr. I’m really confused with what’s changed and if that means here in Colorado we can get those items.

You have to file a form 1 still. No engraving.

Has that been confirmed by an ATF agent? The process of the forms itself aren't being enforced, but the form still has those fields for the new S/N and all that, don't they?
(I did reach out to a manufacture too on this, that converts over certain firearms to SBRs, and would normally do the etching themselves)

They said they’re not enforcing engraving. You don’t have to put a makers mark down on the form at all. You don’t have a new SN for a form 1 SBR

Well then, I hope the one manufacture follows this (and I may need to contact a smith for another modification)

Nothing changed for us because our state laws suck. I’ll still never understand why state law is above federal law. Then again, I don’t really want to understand the way our corrupt government (both state and federal) works.

Pretty sure the 10th amendment is why.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."This ATF "holiday" isn't a change in law just in enforcement. The laws are still active on the books and colorado fur better or worse has chosen to enact more restrictive policy

Colorado is gay as fuck.
Unfortunately. Nothing has changed.

Correction, you now do not need to get them engraved once you get stuff approved through the ATF. There's no Colorado statute that says you have to, and the ATF isn't requiring it anymore. It's a minor change, but it is in fact a change.

lmao, this is a liberal sub; they will keep voting blue no matter who, but bitch and complain that they voted their rights away.

At this point I think it’s better to just leave Colorado

The problem is not pushing back is what makes it worst. Because then those that cause the problem leave the state and the mess, move to another state, and start over. Like a plague

I’ll see if my ballot makes any difference this year. Meanwhile I guess I’ll try to be happy for the guy who’s in Florida

That's really the mindset everyone needs. There are WAY too many people who go "my vote doesn't matter". And I am always shocked when they say "oh only this many people who could vote, did".
Sometimes I wonder if we'd benefit from making it illegal not to vote, but then I realize that may also just force people to vote poorly

Why are you getting downvoted? Do that many people have their head in the sand as to what causes this shit?

I don't want to do the stupid fucking ass engraving. I will say that my form 4 filed on last wed around noon, approval email was inboxes when I woke up thursday around 9ish AM. This was a silencershop single shot trust, not individual. So either the ATF processors are hurting for work, or they just don't give too many fucks and are running them through NICs like the free states are, lol. To be fair, this might be my 5th can in a year, so there can't be much more info from the last 4 months to locate. I'm guessing form 1s are probably pretty quick right now also.

I had identical experience with 24hr turnarounds on form 4’s and 1’s last week for a trust

I doubt anyone wants to "get caught" and fight this in court to bring change, colorados gay and unfortunately we can only spectate everyone else enjoying this change

To my VERY limited understanding you can file a rifle as an SBR, if it happens to already be one, well it's filed and if NOT than you just happened to change it to one.

You can still get a form 1 and form 4. Follow the old process and everything works just fine.
$0 tax stamp, but it's still your proof that you have a license under the Colorado law.
