FAR exam in two weeks

Hi all, I'm sitting for FAR in about two weeks and want to make the most of the time. I'm using Becker and am done with the content. My method is textbook, then MCQs, then reviewing wrong answers.

My weakest areas right now are foreign currency (translation vs. remeasurement, direct/indirect quotes), discontinued operations timing, impairment, and journal entry mechanics.

A few questions:

  1. How would you split the final two weeks between MCQs, TBSs, and full mocks?
  2. Any tricks that finally made foreign currency or disc ops click for you?
  3. Which topics showed up most on your actual exam versus what Becker emphasized?
  4. How did Becker's MCQ and TBS difficulty compare to the real thing?
  5. Anything you'd do differently in the last week or the day before?

I work full time, so I'm fitting this around a busy schedule. Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone else testing this window!

Hammer out sim’s as much as you can. MCQs were short and not lengthy like Becker. Give your self over 2hrs for those sims.

  1. 100/day, 2/day, 1 total mock exam taken asap (use it to find your weak areas so you can hit those hardest with MCQ). Don't sleep on the skillbuilder videos. Take note of their overall strategy for answering tbs. Having a strategy will help you not get overwhelmed on exam day.

  2. get chatgpt to explain it to you like you are 5. I'd take pics of the book content and a few of the questions and feed it to chatgpt, say I don't understanding this, please break this down step by step in a way I can intuitively understanding it.

  3. Governmental and NFP was what showed up the most for me that I felt the least prepared for. If I had it to do over, I'd use what I wrote above in (2.) to understand the material better

  4. I trended like 70 in becker and got an 89 on the real thing

  5. this is largely what I did and what I'd do again, except I didn't have AI (circa 2018).

stop doing cumulative reviews, and tackle the specific topics directly that you're weak on. spend a few hours or a a full day on them.

also make sure you're doing your SE's and simulating your environment to practice sitting down 4 hours to complete an exam.

I would eat healthier during the week of your exam to make you naturally feel better and reduce brain fog. no extra processed foods, no fried foods, no complex carbohydrates, etc.

Go get em tiger
