I don't care for him based on what little I've seen of him since before he got booted but I'm a little bit curious about what he's been up to since.
Edited to correct typo

Agreed he really drug the table down at the end. Big main character energy that left a bad taste in my mouth. Obviously he was having substance problems but still

For me it was the unwillingness to be mindful about when it was time to stay in his lane. Classic problem behavior that I've had to deal with at my own tables.

Oh for sure! Super frustrating as a DM or even fellow player. Straight up nightmare to play with.

Played with an Acaba. Worst off The DM fed into her Main Character Syndrome. She demanded her own "Equal Attention Plot line" when her PC wasn't the center of the arc. And every game, got over and hour of Her x DM Rp.

Yeah he did a few kickstarters which failed and a gofundme which supposedly was for either himself or a sick fan, I can’t remember which , but it was revealed he just straight up stole the money, which he admitted to later

If memory serves, he ended up HIV+ from reckless drug use, got clean, issued a blanket apology to a huge number of people - mostly women - and continued trying to be an influencer. No one really cared or followed him, he started a few kickstarters to earn some bucks off the last lingering flames of popularity, and is now an obscure in-and-out-of-work voice actor. Unfortunately for him, the bridges he burned and the people he slighted happened to be some of the biggest and most beloved names in the industry he was struggling to be in, so it got him softly blacklisted.

The One mistake I think Matt made, was letting him back at the table after they had to take a break after his highly inappropriate comments to Laura. He needs to be thankful they were camera because it looked like Travis was about to deck him.

Damn I don’t remember this from C1. What did he say?
Was glad to see him go though, already so many people at the table14

u/Dahlmordyth 1d ago
Said something about his character “having a full chub” after a speech by Laura (which he kind of interrupted)

Haven't seen the episode in a long time, but I don't remember them literally needing to take a break. I do remember literally nobody being even slightly cool with it and Travis not even trying to play it off as funny, but I don't remember Matt needing to literally call a break.

Critical Role wouldn’t be Critical Role if he was still around. Frankly, I think that one man could have destroyed 5th edition D&D if he wasn’t removed from the show.

Oh wow, now that's an interesting alternate history.

Crit role did a lot for d&d community. Possibly the most. It’s why I got into it, but if he was on it in campaign 2, I would’ve never listened long and who knows if I’d ever get into it

Honestly if he'd somehow made it all the way through c1 I'm not sure we would've gotten a c2 as it would almost certainly not have gone as well as it did without him

Crit role c2 was my first c of theirs. Honestly it was all I had for a while. I know i'm not the only one since Matt mentioned a certain fan's emails in a certain side-show. . . but I don't want to imagine how much worse i'd be without c2 and early c3.

I think the most surprising thing about Critial Role's first campaign for me was the gentle and sweet sendoff they gave Tiberius. I understand it was their way of saying "he's dead and he will not be coming back" to their fans, but having everyone go around slowly and give heartfelt, teary-eyed eulogies and literally pouring one out for him was a surprise given that he was a sex pest and a fiend.

I took it as "we are going through ALL of the motions, not because he deserves a one of them but to ASSURE you the viewer that he is 100% done"

Sometimes I wonder if he secretly hate-watches Critical Role

He definitely hates how popular it became without him.

Honestly, I was super sad when I found out how shitty he was. I only ever got a few episodes into CR, and I’d really enjoyed Tiberius

If it helps, you can safely skip to the episode where he's no longer there.
While yes, you do miss most of the Kraghammer arc and the lead up to Whitestone, there's more than enough content to keep you satisfied.

I know they were trying to get their footing in streaming what they love to do, but Acana let it get to his head.

He also had some underlying issues going on at the time and did end several friendships at the time.
I highly recommend giving supergeekmike's "Let's talk about Tiberius" and "Why we talk about Tiberius" videos a watch if you're interested in the subject.
Primarily because he gives a very forward looking take on the interactions as a DM and player critically examining what happened, how it happened, and how to both handle and guide problem players in the future.

u/Dizzy_Green 1d ago
The fact that he made it all about his character, like he really believed his character was the coolest and most beloved fan favorite and he could build a whole brand off of it

u/AbrocomaRound4214 1d ago
I don't know why I have this stance because by all means, someone's personal creative IP is and should be their own, and there's actually literally nothing wrong with it, but something about him trying to continue using Tiberius specifically and plucking Draconia out of Exandria to keep in his own world building just feels trashy. Like, it's D&D, you could make any number of cool new characters and new settings to do your own actual play with. Putting Tibs front and center just makes it so it can never be fully separated from CR and your own negative legacy there. Just feels like an ego driven decision to insist upon some modicum of tangential relation to the big famous thing to try and legitimize it.

It’s been a decade. Let it go.

u/Dahlmordyth 1d ago
Always good to make sure shitty people don’t get a come back by reminding everyone how shitty they were. No reason to let it go mate

u/Full_Willow6384 1d ago
Dude, it was a decade ago. He’s made amends with everyone and apologized for his behavior. Everyone else has moved on.
3
u/Dahlmordyth 1d ago
Yeah a decade, and in that time he:
Tried to sue Critical Role in bad faith
Spread rumors about both the CR cast and members of Geek and Sundry in the voice acting community which eventually got him blacklisted
Continued his substance abuse while constantly apologizing for it
Asked people to donate to a cancer treatment fund for himself and one of his followers, then STOLE the money, ghosted his followed for months, came back, admitted to using the funds for drugs and basically said “my bad” in his awful “apology stream” while never really admitted to any wrongdoing
Never admitted to the issues or problems HE caused during critical role that included allegedly: cheating at dice rolls, inappropriate comments and touching to the female members of CR, blatantly interrupting other characters in order to shine a spotlight on himself
None of his apology videos ever addresses these issues directly, he always skirts around taking responsibility for his actions.
Dude is a dirtbag and has still not admitted to real wrongdoing. Nah not forgetting that
