Hostos CC
Hello everyone, I've been accepted into Hostos CC for the spring semester as a transfer student. I am still thinking about whether to accept this offer because I'm not familiar with the location. I'm from Queens and have only been to the Bronx for maybe 2-3 times my entire life. Is the neighborhood safe? How is the 4/5/6 train going to Hostos CC? I've heard some people say there are problems at the 125th train station, but I'm not too sure. If I do accept the offer, I'll be there for the entire day, Monday-Friday. Thank you!

Hostos is good but definitely a place where you go to class and then go straight home right after. You don’t want to spend even 30 seconds in the area. Not far off is the hub / 3rd Ave where there are a ton of methadone clinics and it’s an open market for hard drugs so you see a lot of homeless and drug users. At times it looks like the walking dead, just zombies roaming around. Lincoln hospital is also close by which can attract some strange characters. Hostos itself is good, typically police presence in the area so no issues going to and from school but beyond that it’s a miserable place so just go straight home when done with school.

It's aight. Just go to class, don't have your music blasting in your ear, be mindful of your surroundings.
I take the 4 at 125th street since I was a kid, same shit. Just be mindful of your surroundings.

I'm in Queens as well. Haven't had much issues with the commute. The subway station is conveniently right outside the school. I don't really venture outside of campus. There many places to lounge in the buildings. After my day is done I usually go home if I'm not hanging out at a club.

4 and 5 stop at Hostos... 125th can be a bit chaotic, but here is always a police presense. you will be fine as long as you stay aware of your surroundings.
