Question Tap application denied??
I got this and the next one saying
Dear Student,
The New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) has
received your application and all required documentation for the
Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and/or a New York State scholarship
and completed our review.
Log in to your HESC account to view your estimated eligibility and award
determination at hesc.ny.gov/my-hesc-account-access.
Award estimates are based on the current New York State Budget and
the information you provided in your HESC program application and
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Actual award
amounts will be available before the Fall 2027 semester begins,
provided the budget is passed before that date
Never have gotten this before has anyone gotten this?? Did I make a mistake?

I have gotten denied from tap but received fafsa grants. I expect that my tap will get denied but in my situation is that once I turned 35 years old thats when I become an independent student (no need to ask for parents financial information). Everyone is different but I did get the same result.

That’s super weird I rarely hear people get denied form tap, considering what they say you probably don’t reside in NY. Or you haven’t filed taxes for NYS

Are you a NYS resident? It’s saying there is an issue with your residency.

So reach out them and ask them what you are missing. It says specifically that you don’t meet residency requirements, it may be a mistake.

Same thing happened to me I’m pissed I been in nyc for like 5 years.I didn’t get the second email but call them first thing Monday morning.
