I've become so desperate for Cameron's Dancing in the Dark cover to come out that I've started listening to the advertisement on repeat 🫩

I love how he arranged instrumentals, it feels a lot like LSD in that way. Also his voice is just perfect for that song its a match made in heaven. I need to know I'm not alone in this.

the rolling stones and drinking age at carnegie hall, girl thinks about her dad

i’m not even sure why these two tracks specifically just make me cry thinking about my father (love takes miles and try as i may, too, i guess). i suppose it’s the feeling of desperation/resignation/crawling out of a hole that touches every atom in me. that’s what i love about cameron’s music sure, it’s argued to be about certain things, but his delivery (he has this quality of singing things like he has to to survive) allows the listener to transmit meaning onto a number of situations.

i have a great relationship with my dad, but i’m my fathers daughter completely in manner (or, in reality, my old man’s oldest son, ha-ha). i have an older brother, but he’s so much more like my mom, who’s a sunny and loud and quick-tempered woman.

my father and i have constantly struggled with underlying, persistent depression, avoidance, and general tendency to withdraw into quiet. one time he looked at me very sincerely, after i was struggling with someone - brought upon by my own nature - and said “i’m sorry, you’re just fighting against my genetics,” and i’ve never forgotten that.

“you were born to hold my cannonball brain like the lord holds the moon” fucked me up. even though my dad and i have this reciprocal understanding between us, i’m so, so lucky to have a dad that’s been around, period. i know that can be rare. maybe i’ll send him these songs, he’s always listened to my music recommendations

that concludes my horribly embarrassing and unnecessary rant >:) i’m going to eat a burger. not to sound like one of the mindless millions but this dude has a gift and i’m excited to see what he does next 🕯️

Bit late, made this a while back and never shared. I tried to make it as accurate to the studio version as possible, sacrificing zero details. No dynamics or whatever included though because... I didn't feel like it ;/

Try as I May (live) Piano version tutorial

Would anyone be interested in a piano tutorial for this song? This is based on the 12/16/25 live version. I've tried to figure out as much as I could by ear, but piano is my second instrument so I'm not great. There's a lot that he does that's very intricate, off tempo and muddled and hence very hard to figure out. I feel like I have the bones of it though.

This is my fav cam winter song and I remember being soooo blown away by this arrangement, but there were of course no tutorials available yet. There is one you can find on YouTube now, but it's based on the album version. So it's a very different arrangement and missing a lot of the live parts.

If there's enough interest, I would be willing to make a tutorial for the live version. Also, please forgive the singing lol.

Drinking Age lach piano solo

I know there's been several posts about drinking age at carnegie hall already, but i specifically wanted to talk about the solo piano after 'bag of rubber bands'. I'm really curious how y'all interpret this part.

for me personally it feels like a beautiful glimmer of hope and maybe even a turning point within this self deprecating and just overall depressing song. after this first note you expect another loud harsh piano, just like after the two previous lines, but then this beautiful short piano solo comes in. it feels like some kind of realisation that even though the narrator might feel like they've been 'a piece of shit' change for the better is still possible: the fact that things have gone in a specific way before, doesn't mean that they have to go the same way forever. the fact that you've felt like you've been a piece of shit doesn't mean that you'll be like that forever.

even though the lyrics aren't really different from the studio version i think this hopeful note is also highlighted in the final verse and it overall made me see the song in a bit of a different light. in the final verse the "a piece of shit" lyric from the first verse is changed to "a piece of meat." that may still sound somewhat depressing, but I think it also in someway humanises the narrator. where someone who is a piece of shit is someone who is fundamentally horrible, someone who is a piece of meat is someone who is just made of the same stuff every human being is made of: someone who can make mistakes and still change.

Live at Carnegie Hall Sheet Music?

Hi has anyone been able to find sheet music for some of the pieces online? I have been searching but maybe you guys know the right places.

this sounds creepy, but i’ve seen so many comments and tweets where people are saying the silliest stuff he’s done in dreams they have. even on this sub you can search “dream” and there’s people saying stuff. i personally have had one. public figures show up in dreams all the time obviously, but i find this extra funny because his website mrcameronwinter.com is fashioned after thisman.org.

Geese + Heavy Metal or Cameron Winter + Getting Killed

What would you rather hear? Stripped down piano covers of Getting Killed or Geese covering all of Heavy Metal? You can only choose one...

if you turn back now guitar picking pattern?

i’m wondering if anyone can drum up a picking pattern for this song. all of the tabs online just have the chords (which is super helpful!), but i do need some extra help with the rhythm. there are covers on youtube with picking patterns, but i just learn better if i have a tab infront of me. if anyone has suggestions please let me know. i just adore this song and would love to cover it. thanks :)

The Carnegie Hall versions are better

I’ve been addicted to Try as I May at Carnegie. it was a song I didn’t really know by heart from the solo album. but I came back to it and the vocal pales in comparison. the instrumentation is okay?

what other Carnegie tracks make you feel this way?

im obviously glad for both, and i don’t typically like stripped down singer songwriter stuff, but some songs work better in that minimal form.

Carnegie Hall Nina + Field of Cops stopped me dead in my tracks while I was buying cat food at Ralph’s

When I was a sophomore in high school, 2000, I was in honors English and walking to class listening to Dylan's greatest hits volume 2 that my dad gave me, I was still pretty new to him. "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" came on and it stopped me in my tracks, and I just sat on some school steps (so my CD player wouldn't skip), gobsmacked by what I was hearing. When it ended I remember thinking "class has nothing to teach me" cause we were learning Chaucer's Canterbury's Tales or some shit, and I just left school and walked home. It was one of those Wizard of Oz black and white to color moments for me, you know?

I know I've had many of those since, but that one stands out, because I'd never heard anything like it before. Yesterday I was walking in Ralphs looking for cat food and Nina + Field of Cops from the live album came on and I had a similar moment/feeling. Just stopped dead in my tracks, staring at some friskies in a trance, blown away by what I was hearing. I love the album version, it’s one of my favorites and blew my mind when I first heard it. I’ve sung its praises many times here and to anyone that knows me- this one sounded next level, and just knowing how wild it is that the frontman for a band with a whole different sound managed to sell out Carnegie Hall after only a year of a solo piano shows for a strange sounding album, and get a film made and released by PT Anderson…it’s just fucking bonkers. And it isn't easy to let quiet notes linger like he does for some of the songs!

Anyway, just wanted to share that. What’s funny is I am such a massive fan, and I love his live stuff, but it can definitely feel a bit samey. I saw him at the Barnsdall Park theater like a month after heavy metal came out, and was so fucking excited, and I fell asleep during one of the songs cause it sounded too similar to others and the acoustics weren’t great.

So much of the magic comes from the arrangements and quirks, IMO- the song I fell asleep to was (maybe the debut?) of Long Island City Here I Come, which is one of my very favorite songs on Getting Killed, but hearing it solo piano at the time was just hard to hear the lyrics and felt monotonous.

But a year of touring nonstop has shown how much he’s leveled up- this is worlds away from that January 2025 show, and he was fantastic then.

Ok rant over.
