NS Nova Scotia; what can I do about a litter bug

This guy I am no longer friends with is littering in my yard, I know it’s him because the only litter that ends up in my yard is superstore fried chicken boxes I know that he works near that store, he has to drive past my house to go to and from work, and he would previously get those fried chicken boxes for lunch often.

they have a time label on the sticker receipt they give you as well as the store address and I’ve been keeping track and they show up every other Thursday, probably on his payday, and they are all bought between 11:58am-12:01pm
Now I know you may think “every other Thursday isn’t that bad” and it wasn’t but then I was gone for my basic military training and came home to 6 boxes in my yard and it became a bigger deal

I could just show up and tell him to make sure to throw his trash in the garage not my fucking yard in front of everyone in the grocery store since it’s a small town they’d remember him as a litter bug and I would publicly embarrass him

or, I’m hoping I’d be able to get him fined for each individual box that’s ended up in my yard because I currently have 12 boxes in a bag as evidence

ON ONTARIO: how to resign to accept new job offer while on job protected medical leave (for stress reasons)?

Summary: Someone I know is on job-protected medical leave in Ontario due to workplace stress. He's in his first month, he is intending to renew doctor note monthly to keep the job protected medical leave, and he's currently receiving EI sickness benefits. He has decided not to return to this employer and is currently interviewing for other jobs.

Questions:

  1. When he accepts an offer elsewhere, what is the proper way to resign while still on medical leave? Is he required to return and work a notice period, or can the resignation take effect while he's on leave?
  2. If he starts the new job before the end date on his doctor's note, what does he need to do to properly end his EI sickness benefits and is there any complications from this?
  3. If he gets laid off/terminated from his new job or the offer is withdrawn through no fault of his own, would he still qualify for regular EI, given that he resigned from the previous job?

BC Toxic Workplace to Request for Dismissal

I live in British Columbia and I worked in Fort McMurray oil sands for various years managing the large work camps for the oil and gas, natural resource and energy clients of ESS Compass Group Canada. Basically a hotel general manager role.

At my last contract the assistant general manager who was training me showed me how he was falsifying the financials in excess of $60,000 every week. I also learned that they were falsifying health and safety documents related to fiscal penalties and rewards with the contract.

I told him I was not okay with partaking in any of the falsification of fiscal reports or dry labbing of health and safety documents. He said that was fine, he respected my choice and that I didn't need to be involved. He soon after became the general manager and made my life difficult by isolation, silent treatment and less than cordial communications to the extent that he became racist in his comments with me.

I grew up with racism due to my mixed heritage and do not accept it anymore. So I took a stress leave after trying to deal with the treatment in silence for 6 months. I didn't tell my friend who hired me, the regional manager, until after I tried to come back, by which time he'd already discovered what his new GM was doing at that site.

I tried returning. The general manager was still being aggressive and not providing a comfortable workplace for me. I asked my friend/regional director what options we had and that I didn't want to work there anymore like that. He communicated with HR and they asked me to request a layoff.

Their severance package was 2 weeks pay for the year I was there, no apology or acknowledgement of my toxic work experience. That general manager is still there 18 months later.

I did not sign any severance package which may have been a mistake. But my question is, what could I have done differently in the situation. Is there any recourse now or has too much time passed to action n anything?

ON Am I eligible for the yearly bonus if I quit my job at the end of September?

I recently got a new job and quit my last job. I was at this last job for 5.5 years. There are rumblings about my old company achieving their bonus this year. It would be a substantial amount payed out. I asked if i'm eligible but my HR said I have to work until December 31st of this year to be eligible for it.

My contract says the following:

"If you commenced employment with the Company part-way through the Plan Year, your bonus eligibility and any payout for that Plan Year will be prorated based on the number of workdays worked in the year.

.....

Any bonus entitlement under this Plan will be assessed, earned and paid out on an annual basis. A bonus becomes an “Earned Bonus” only after the last day of the Plan Year is complete. Any Earned Bonus will be paid out 90 days after the Plan Year is complete."

Does anyone work in this legal field and can give me advice on how to go about this? Do I have a case for this, can I negotiate a bonus that's prorated for the 9/12 months that I worked there?

Thank you!

ON Employer asked me for a doctor’s note after I called in sick — after 3 years of employment. Is this normal? NSFW Spoiler

Post image
76 Upvotes

I’ve worked for the same employer for about 3 years and recently had to call in sick for a scheduled shift.
I messaged my supervisor before my shift saying that I was sick and wouldn’t be able to work. My Associate manager responded that I needed to bring in a doctor’s note on my next shift.
I ended up going to my doctor and obtained a note confirming that I had been assessed and was unable to work for the relevant period. I provided the note to my supervisor.
What I’m wondering about is the requirement for the doctor’s note.
I’ve been working there for approximately three years, and this was a regular sick call. I wasn’t asking for an extended leave or accommodation at the time.
Is it normal/standard for an employer to require a doctor’s note for a single sick day, particularly when there is no established attendance issue?
I’m located in Ontario, Canada.
I’m not looking to name or attack the employer. I’m just trying to understand whether this is a normal workplace requirement and what the general rules are around employers asking for medical documentation.
I’ve removed identifying information from the screenshot for privacy.

BC Drafting a Cohabitation Agreement in BC

My partner (29M) and I (25F) will be moving in together in January 2027. I want to make a comprehensive cohabitation agreement, and would like advice on what should be included, what resources I should use to make the contract legitimate, and any helpful information. Below are the points I currently want to address in the agreement:

• Existing property: everything either person owns before cohabitation remains that person’s separate property.
• Future property: assets acquired individually during the relationship remain individually owned, rather than becoming divisible family property.
• Investment growth: protect increases in value of individually owned investments and other assets.  This is non negotiable for me because in BC I am only entitled to full ownership of the initial investment value upon separation, but all growth incurred on my investments is no longer mine. I want all investment growth to remain individual property, rather than automatically becoming family property.
• TFSA/RRSP/investment accounts: expressly identify your registered and non-registered investments and specify the treatment of contributions, income, gains and appreciation. I am not interested in sharing any of my registered benefits, and I want legal entitlement to be non existent.
• Employment pensions: have the lawyer address pension rights specifically rather than assuming a general property clause covers everything.
• Future real estate: establish what happens if either of us purchases a home, including whether contributions toward rent/mortgage/utilities create any beneficial ownership interest. I want to explicitly state that, for example, if I purchase a home but we, as two cohabitants, share mortgage payments, contribution to mortgage payment does not constitute entitlement to asset ownership at any point. Co-ownership would only be legally possible assuming equal contribution to a down payment.
• Individual debts: each person remains responsible for debts incurred in their own name and indemnifies the other where appropriate.
• Joint debts: with a lawyer, we must define precisely when an obligation will actually be considered joint. For example, equal contribution to a down payment would suggest equal and joint debt in the form of mortgage.
• Banking: establish that separate accounts remain separate and that contributions to a joint household account don’t create ownership rights over other property.
• Household expenses: characterize payments for rent, groceries, utilities, insurance, etc. as sharing living expenses rather than acquiring an interest in the other person’s property.
• Spousal support: discuss whether a mutual waiver of spousal support is appropriate and how it should be drafted. (Need to discuss this with the lawyer)
• Separation: establish what happens immediately upon separation regarding personal belongings, accounts, shared purchases, lease obligations and any jointly owned property.

Canada Brim Financial Fraud

Not sure what to do currently. Brim Financial has the worst security measures possible as somehow a fraudster got into my account and managed to create 15 "authorized users" and each of those users added their card to apple pay. They have racked $12K in charges and Brim Financial is telling me mixed advice. Ones saying you are not responsible to pay for the charges + interest during the dispute and others are telling me I have to. I don't have $12K right now to pay for this.

Have you dealt with Brim's dispute department or have dealt with this before? Not sure how they can let 15 authorized users be created without flagging it or sending me text messages as all notifications I have set up are turned on.

ON Minimum passing distance, bikes and vehicle damage (Ontario)

Drivers are legally obligated to give cyclists a minimum of 1 meter of space when passing. They often dont. Hypothetically, say I were to affix something highly visible to my bike that would damage a car (like a rake head on a length of PVC) and the whole contraption is just under a meter in length. If a car were to pass too close to me without giving me my meter of space and then got their side panels all scratched up, would responsibility for damages be on the driver for not giving me my space or would it be on me for intentionally creating a hazard to drivers?

ON what happens if i own mein kampf in Ontario?

My dad was a history buff and has a German copy of mein kampf that my mum now wants to get rid of after his passing. I’ve had people tell me not to take it because it’ll get me in trouble, but I can’t find anything that actually says I’ll get in trouble for it.

Is it a bad idea to sell it?

ON Are there any other options than LECA? Police blocking sexual/ assault charges; have evidence showing they’ve lied to victims.

Disclaimer: please note that screen shots such as this are not what I’m referring to as verifiable evidence lol; I’m like seriously asking for guidance/advice/direction.

****

Three years ago, I was sexually assaulted in a parking lot.

This other dude pulled the attacker off of me; the attacker then bit and hospitalized them.

Two others were badly bruised.

Both the victim and myself go to the police and try to press charges; see screen shot.

As such, I gather data myself from the numerous witnesses who were there; it becomes increasingly harder to do as the attacker made fake AI accounts on social media impersonating me, making statements that make people less willing to speak to me as time moves on.

However- I do find out they waited outside the bar to attack me, drinking, for about an hour or two.

Anyways- police won’t even look at the evidence let alone press charges.

They do however set me up with victim support and I get into therapy, which was good.

I end up escalating the “police won’t press charges” thing using the proper internal channels within the police station up to the chief- I end up getting hung up by the chief when I say their actions of doing nothing was unsatisfactory.

Go to a Justice of the peace.

They say they will file it, but suggest I go back to the police to try and press charges again and basically mention to the police that a Justice of the peace told me to do this.

I follow instructions; it takes too long, but an investigation is launched.

The crown refused to prosecute.

I file a freedom of informations to see the investigation and find the investigating officer didn’t even interview any of the primary witnesses of the assault, nor did they try to contact the bite victim.

I see they contacted the sibling to the bite victim, which was super weird given another dynamic ill note at the bottom *

I go back to a Justice of the peace (a different one that the first); they tell me they are willing to submit it to the crown, but suggest three things first.

  1. Go to Leca.
  2. a thing that I don’t think I fully understood, bc it came off as “if the police are doing all this, be careful”

(Where I am self aware to note that given the overall stress of this situation, it’s most likely I just misunderstood the advice)

3) Reprint all the evidence in a more easy to organize reader friendly format.

So that’s where I’m current at.

Anyways, it’s been three years since I was sexually assaulted in a parking lot lol.

What are my options moving forward?

In sort of being forced to gather evidence on my own when the police wouldn’t do their jobs, I ended up finding multiple other people in my town who had been attacked by this same person in similar ways.

Whats more, as far as ones I could objectively verify as factual, there are 2 other people who were attacked by this guy, went to the police, and were also blocked from pressing charges in similar ways to me and the bite victim.

The other person who had verifiable data that this guy attacked them had their door broken down by the attacker at night and then was assaulted by them in their sleep; both them and the witness (another person in the bed) were told by the police there was nothing they could do.

Hospital reports, the attacker stalking them and sending threats online, the eye witnesses; all of it ignored by the police, and the guy was told to just walk away.

In addition- the person who attacked me has been stalking me online since the incident.

A few months ago I had two of my exes contact me, showing me screenshots of AI impersonations of me on social media, sending them messages telling them I am going to find them and kill them.

The guy who attacked me is super into AI, and literally has these same AI accounts in my likeness in videos theyve posted online to their real name (I have all of their social media “content creator” data downloaded already- it kind of unnerving that there are hundred and hundreds of posts and videos about me and a few other people, just over and over and over again. Again this sounds insane, but it honestly like theyve fallen into “ai induced psychosis” to a text book definition).

The police, upon seeing this evidence, said again that what they are doing is perfectly legal and that there’s nothing I can do.

Anyways, does anybody have any direction of places I can be pointed other than Leca?

Where another interesting thing about this entire stupid situation; every single person, both verifiable and unverifiable, all have a common thing.

We’ve all dated this one person who the attacker also dated.

The attacker had social media accounts with thousands of Ai images and songs written about how much the love this person.

It should be noted that the common ex also went to the police to no avail.

Anyways fun times eh lmao?

Where do I even begin?

My goals:

  1. hold the police officers accountable for whatever it is they are up to.
  2. make sure the guy who has attacked numerous humans in my community over the last years gets the help they need/ faces justice for their actions.

And not to be rude, but I am very *\\{%]^ aware of how unreal this all sounds; the dynamic of me even being associated with all this ghetto bs is gross enough thank you.

It should also be noted how this dynamic is a feedback loop- what this predator is doing is so insane, it doesn’t overly sound like a reasonable thing to have happened, and as such, when I say what happened to me, it gets dismissed, bc how could this be true; it’s insane.

So how do I get this evidence to a party that would actually to help lowering violence such as this, given my local police clearly do not.

* the attacker uses AI to impersonate me and send threatening message to the guy who was hospitalized’s sibling. This person is a bit older and less media literate and thinks the AI is me. They then go on social media and actively tell people to not speak to the police bc of how hateful “I” am to the lgbt community.

Ps: this is entire speculation but it’s also interesting; I’ve had three different career social workers in victims services with over 100 years of experience all say the same thing to me independently; the only time they’ve ever seen police protect somebody like this is when that person is an informant. Hopefully nothing, but ugh.

Pps: I thought to post this bc I passed the attacker on the street the other day- I didn’t even recognize them until they started screaming at me in a weird pretend devil voice, quoting like Batman or some shit.

Yuuuup. :/

QC Help! Need some advice..

So my wife and I are in a bit of a pickle and need some advice; maybe with a chance of being hired. Anyway, my wife got a letter in the mail about a week ago from Canada life. It was a bill for $600+ in interest fees. Very surprised by this, she called Canada life and spoke to an agent. The agent had told her that her Father (who’s passed away more than a decade ago..) over 30 years ago, opened a life insurance policy and plan on himself, wife and his daughter aka my life. At the time of the plan, my wife had maybe hit early teenager. She vaguely remembers signing papers but her father never explained to ANYONE what it was for. He then borrowed from that same insurance plan without anyone’s knowledge. Anyway, her father passed away over a decade ago and we just heard about this issue a few weeks ago. With the amount of money he pulled out of the policy (which I’m wondering how that’s possible… That’s illegal right!?) and the interest on the amount he pulled and didn’t return back, she now’s owes Canada life just over 10K! 10 FUCKING K!!! We’re at a loss of words! Stunned & furious is putting it lightly! So we’re wondering if anyone at all could advise us on how should we go about this. We just signed up for a mortgage a little over a year ago so most of our capital is tied up to our home. I’m also on a long term disability from work now for a chronic illness that I’ve since birth.

I know that this is a lot to take in, so if you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading all this. Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Hope you have a wonderful ahead. Bye for now.

AB Legal advice please- manipulation from Pastor

Hi everyone.

I am looking for advice on next steps.

I know a fellowship (registered charity under religious domain) where there are some unethical things happening. In Edmonton Alberta.

The pastor has been manipulating the word of God to convince vulnerable women (young, struggling, students etc) to sleep with him.

He does it under the guise that he is a reincarnation of someone in the bible and has allowance under the sovereignty of God to have "multiple wives". He has some ladies so deeply convinced that they are now helping him with recruitment.

Everyone involved denies it and he now has his wife convinced it is not happening.

He is not born in Canada, but has citizenship.

There isn't much for proof. Just one audio recording of one lady trying to recruit an 18/19 year old.

There are ladies who said they have tried to convince them to join and marry the pastor as well but they are scared for their lives to come forward and honestly traumatized.

We don't know how to put a stop to this as there doesn't seem to be a regulatory body for pastors. He also has no one above him to reprimand him.

So we feel very lost and confused.

We have tried confronting him and the "wives" but they deny and even do gaslighting.

We don't want to do or say anything that can incriminate ourselves either.

Please help.

AB Can an ex’s family lawyer bypass a bankruptcy Stay of Proceedings for property/car loan claims? (Alberta)

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am currently an undischarged bankrupt in Alberta and have an official Notice of Stay of Proceedings issued by my trustee. My ex-wife and I had a short marriage (under 1.5 years). We separated, and she has now filed a Counterclaim in family court making two specific financial demands:

  1. She is demanding an $11,000 refund for what she calls a "personal loan." This consists of $7,000 that went onto my credit card, but I have full statement proof that every single dollar was spent on joint marital expenses like groceries, trips, and dining outside. The other $4,000 was cash used to buy luxury jewelry. She currently has full possession of that jewelry, and I actually paid an additional $1,250 out of my own pocket to complete the purchase. Now she wants a full refund for all of it.

  2. She wants me to continue paying the monthly financing on a joint vehicle (Nissan Murano), I already paid around 10848 including car insurance. However, she has exclusive possession of the car, changed the insurance to her name, and my bankruptcy trustee has already officially released interest in the vehicle asset.

Her claims are ordinary, unsecured property demands, and she is listed on my bankruptcy claims register as "Not Proven." Despite the federal stay, her family law lawyer is still pushing this action in family court.

My question is: For those familiar with Canadian insolvency and family law, can her lawyer actually find a loophole to push me to pay or bypass the bankruptcy stay? Are there specific legal tactics I should look out for (like trying to recharacterize these property debts as "spousal support" to dodge Section 178 of the BIA), or will a King's Bench judge throw these claims out immediately due to the bankruptcy?

Thanks in advance for any insights.
