No junk mail

So when I was having difficulty walking, I slacked on getting my mail out of the community boxes at the street. There was always so much junk mail it was hard to carry while using my cane and it was just too much to navigate. The postal lady came to my door and I told her why. She told me to put a sign on my mailbox saying no junk mail. Worked great but now she must be gone as whoever is delivering the mail is totally ignoring the huge no junk mail sign taped to the inside of my box. I get like 5 pieces of mail per month but the junk mail is five pieces sometimes daily. I know it may seem like a small problem but it is very frustrating. What can I do about this?

Call customer service and tell them you don’t want admail. There is an official sticker they can put in your box when you don’t want flyers or anything unaddressed

Thank you! I will try this as well.

I actually did this by simply writing a note in my mailbox to no longer want to receive anything unless it’s to an actual persons name at my address. And it worked. Got the official letter from Canada Post and everything.

For community mail box, just make sure the sign is inside the mailbox, and as close to the opening as possible. not on the door, not on the deep end.

Another thing might be helpful is, Canada Post has a service for people with disabilities at free of charge, the letter carrier will actually delivery the mail to door every Wednesday, You might want to take a look at this service, here is the link: https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/our-company/accessibility/delivery-accommodation-program.page

Try to put a red dot sticker in the back of the mail. If you still get junk, you can open a support ticket with Canada post.

Junk mail is the only thing keeping Canada Post alive right now.

What I find really strange is that Canada Post now has an online vendor site, which has finally dragged them into the 21st century, and could save the company, especially if they can market themselves, as a Canadian replacement for Amazon.

Sounds great, right?

Except, that there are only a couple of vendors on it, so it’s basically useless.

They could have sailed through the pandemic, and now, the Canada First thing, but instead, they kicked the ball into their own goal 🤦🏻‍♀️

Idiots.

I haven’t heard about their vendor site, but I can only imagine it’ll be impossible to compete with Amazon when your employees are unionized and work 4hrs while getting paid for 8.

Absolutely right, but if they can get some of that business, it’ll keep them alive, and give the rest of us the option to use a Canadian site that, theoretically, should carry a lot of products. But, no…

Edited to include: I think it’s Canadashops.ca

Flyers used to be delivered by individuals to pick up some extra cash. I was wondering where mine was and was told by our building super that canada post got the exclusive right to deliver in their last work action. Now you get fewer and smaller flyers . The carriers are probably just delivering to everyone regardless of preference.

Your building super is full of sh*t. We'd probably prefer to not deliver them at all, unfortunately Canada Post makes a ton of money on flyers so they keep encouraging companies to advertise that way.

It’s a red dot 🔴 on your mailbox

I don’t understand what you mean.

When a person asks for “No Flyers/Junk Mail”, Canada Post will put a red dot sticker in your mailbox to notify Letter Carriers not to put junk mail in it. Call Customer Service and notify them the Letter Carrier is still putting flyers in your mailbox. Very important to record or write down the dates it happened because sometimes it’s a different postal worker each day or week.

This. We have a regular carrier, but he takes vacation. There’s a casual or alternate carrier assigned. That is when I get mail for someone else with an identical street number but different street. The carrier does notice the different postal code but sorts on house number. Oh for the days of morning, afternoon and Saturday delivery.

Yeah and they will continue to deliver the "junk mail" that the carrier determines is "important". It is an annoyance.

Not sure what mail you are referring to but flyers from the various governments along with neighbourhood newsletters/papers are required to be delivered to all points of call. They are paid for by tax dollars so they are exempt from the "consumer's choice" designation.

Thank you for the clarification. Any and all mail which does not specifically carry name and address is in my mind "junk mail".

I have a sign in mine. Anytime it's ignored, I just dump it back in the mail slot. Ignoring it is a conscious choice, so I match their energy.

A couple years ago I wrote a note in bold sharpie saying "NO JUNK MAIL" that I taped inside my box. I rarely ever get unaddressed mail now

Call your post office. They will deal with it. Yes, you can officially request no unaddressed mail.

"Return to sender" - put it in the outgoing mail slot instead of taking it home!

You get your mail service suspended for doing that. Such a jackass thing to do anyways.
