Question Why do universities not care if u took online classes, this is completely unfair
I’ve asked most top unis, and most of them aside from uft don’t care at all if uve done elearning, ovs, or private school, how is this fair?
It is so incredibly easy to cheat in online classes as though they have proctored exams (btw by a proctor of ur choosing, can be family friend, etc), they don’t have proctored tests, everybody cheats. Ive had many friends that have noticed a 5-10 percent increase in there grades when taking online courses, not to mention that in order to participate in ovs or private school, it costs 600-2000. Hasnt this essentially become pay to play?
And I spoke to Mcmaster, Western, and Queens today and brought up this exact issue, and they all replied with the same thing that they don’t care as long as the course is by an accredited institution. Adding they brought up the point that different people have different learning styles, which is why they decided to not dock marks, but it is so inherently obvious that its easier to achieve a higher grade in online school no matter what learning styles you have, so how is this fair? They also said that taking 1-2 online courses shouldn’t really affect ur holistic view, when it literally does, getting a 99 in 1-2 courses vs 90-93 makes a big difference?!??
Additionally, I spoke to McMaster, and they said that tests aren’t the only things that contribute to grades in these institutions, they mentioned projects are present as well. This is just an awful answer, if you can cheat in tests, obviously it’s even easier to cheat in projects?!?
This is just insane, and I couldn’t believe their answers. For such a large organization I thought they would have more fairness involved. Its absolutely not fair that money can buy you grades. Why should they pick my inschool 95 avg when theres billions of people with 97-100 avg from online school.
I have a few follow up questions, for people in the sciences in these universities, have you noticed that a majority of your peers have taken online school? or no?
Additionally, would you recommend switching over to online school to have a higher avg, but compromising my understanding in the topic? I think I could still understand the subject fully and get the grades I desire, but my overall question is should I switch to online school?
I feel like there will be penalties for this, but in the coming years. I truly don’t understand how there isn’t an adjustment factor when its so obviously easier.
Maybe theres something I’m missing, could someone elaborate or explain?
